Abstract

Employee is one of the main assets that support the success of an organization, so their performance will affect performance of the organization as a whole. This study aims to evaluate the application and determine the effect of incentive systems and other factors on job performance. Methods of data collection in this study consists of literature review, interviews and collecting questionnaires. A total of 103 questionnaires distributed to nonacademic employees at an educational institution. Data processing in this study, among others, evaluation of incentives satisfaction, correlation test using Pearson and Partial Least Squares (PLS) to predict the relationship between the variables. The results showed that salaries are the most important priority to be obtained at work. Relationships between variables in terms of a significant correlation between the variable conditions of employment, the willingness achievers, and incentives for job performance variables. In the design of the proposed incentives, provision of incentives aimed at increasing productivity and work motivation, maintaining equality and feasibility at incentives, and maintaining the welfare of employees. In addition, the design of proposed incentives gives adjustment to the amount of family allowance, responsibility allowance, general allowance, as well as performance benefits.

Abstract

The number of people using online tablets in public places has increased dramatically. Their postures are dominantly characterized by non-neutral and awkward positions that in the long term may lead to a higher risk of musculoskeletal disorders. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of tablet compared to laptop (i.e. netbook) usage postures on the development of fatigue, discomfort and pain. A total of 12 participants accomplished email typing tasks for 2 hours with four different usage configurations: 1) Netbook-on-table, 2) Netbook-on-lap, 3) Tablet-on-table, and 4) Tablet-on-lap. Changes in fatigue, discomfort, and pain were monitored based on pinch grip strength (tip pinch, key pinch, and palmar pinch), rating of perceived discomfort, and Phalen’s & Reverse Phalen’s tests, respectively. The results indicated that the effect of portable device placement was significant (p < 0.05), with varied effects across measurements. No effect of portable computer type was found. The interactive effect of portable computer type and placement was only significant for right tip pinch (p < 0.05). The findings of this study can hopefully be used to increase the awareness of tablet users about associated fatigue, discomfort and pain while using a tablet in public places that may lead to a higher risk of musculoskeletal disorders.

Abstract

Kota Bandung saat ini mengalami pertumbuhan penduduk mencapai 3% setiap tahunnya, sehingga kebutuhan akan transportasi umum sangat tinggi serta tingkat kemacetan yang timbul semakin tinggi pula. Kemacetan yang panjang berdampak pada penurunan kewaspadaan dan timbulnya risiko kecelakaan karena waktu berkendara yang relatif lebih beragam. Menyadari akan risiko kecelakaan yang diakibatkan oleh kelelahan maka diperlukan pengukuran kelelahan pada pengemudi bus di kota Bandung yang belum pernah dikaji. Penggunaan alat ukur untuk mendeteksi kelelahan saat ini sangat beragam sehingga diperlukan alat ukur terbaik untuk mendeteksi kelelahan pengemudi bus di kota Bandung. Pengukuran kelelahan menggunakan indikator variabilitas denyut jantung dengan menggunakan alat Polar RS800CX (RMSSD dan LF/HF) dan skala tingkat kelelahan dengan kuesioner Visual Analog Scale (VAS). Kuesioner VAS menunjukkan sebanyak 29,9% pengemudi bus Damri mengalami peningkatan kondisi kelelahan dan Polar RS800CX menunjukkan 46% peningkatan kondisi kelelahan. Kriteria selang interval waktu berkendara menunjukkan hasil yang signifikan. Pada penelitian ini, kuesioner VAS mampu mendeteksi kelelahan dibanding alat ukur Polar RS800CX. Korelasi alat ukur antara kuesioner VAS dengan Polar RS800CX (parameter rasio LF/HF) sebesar 0.025 yang menunjukkan nilai signifikan dan kedua alat tersebut mempunyai kekuatan yang sama dalam mengukur kelelahan. Setengah set data pengemudi menunjukkan peningkatan kondisi kelelahan interval waktu berkendara 2 hingga 2,5 jam sehingga pemberlakuan jam istirahat pada waktu tertentu setelah mengemudi selama 1 ritase sangat dianjurkan. Jam kerja yang tidak berimbang antara waktu mengemudi pagi dan siang berpontensi timbulnya peningkatan kondisi kelelahan sehingga pihak Damri sebaiknya mengkaji ulang pembagian waktu mengemudi.

Abstract

AbstrakMaraknya pengguna online game memicu terjadinya peningkatan jumlah penyedia jasa bermain game net dengan pengguna anak-anak, namun stasiun komputer yang digunakan ditujukan untuk pengguna dewasa. Akibatnya, muncul isu ergonomi yang dapat mengakibatkan keluhan otot rangka dengan salah satu indikatornya adalah kelelahan otot rangka. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui pengaruh keergonomisan stasiun komputer game net dan dampaknya terhadap tingkat kelelahan otot jari tangan pada anak-anak pengguna online game. Metode penelitian dilakukan dengan wawancara pengguna game net (n=166), survei keergonomisan game net (n=18) dan dilanjutkan dengan eksperimen. Pada eksperimen, sebanyak 36 anak (usia 12 tahun) direkrut secara random sebagai partisipan dan diminta bermain selama 4 jam di stasiun komputer game net yang dikategorikan ergonomis dan non-ergonomis berdasarkan hasil survei. Pengukuran kelelahan dilakukan menggunakan tiga tes kekuatan otot jari tangan, yakni tip pinch, key pinch, dan palmar pinch secara bergantian untuk tangan kanan dan kiri setiap satu jam. Kelelahan didefiniskan sebagai kecepatan pengurangan dari kekuatan maksimum terhadap waktu. Berdasarkan hasil uji komparasi t-berpasangan, disimpulkan bahwa keergonomisan stasiun komputer berpengaruh signifikan terhadap tingkat kelelahan yang diukur melalui tip pinch dan key pinch untuk tangan kanan dan tangan kiri (p<0.05). Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan pentingnya faktor ergonomi dalam rancangan stasiun komputer game net untuk mencegah gangguan otot-rangka. Abstract[Effect of Non-ergonomic Game Net Computer Station on Risks of Musculockeletal Disorders] The number of game net computer station providing online game has dramatically increased in Indonesia. The majority of game net users are children, but the computer stations are designed for adult users. This study was aimed at determining the effect of non-ergonomic game net computer station and its impact on the development of muscle fatigue on children finger. The study consisted of interview of game net users (n=166), survey of game net condition (n=18), and experiment. In the experiment, a total of 36 children (aged 12 years) were recruited as the participant. They were asked to play at both ergonomic and non-ergonomic game net computers for 4 hours. Fatigue development was measured using strength tests of finger muscle, including tip pinch, key pinch, and palmar pinch alternately for the left and right hands in every hour. Fatigue is defined as the rate of reduction in maximum strength by time. Based on t-paired comparison test, it was concluded that the ergonomics condition of computer stations had significant effect on the level of fatigue of children measured through key tip pinch and pinch for the right hand and left hand (p <0.05). The results of this study indicated the importance of ergonomic factors in the design of game net computer station in order to prevent complaint at musculoskeletal system. Keywords: Fatigue, Complaint; Musculoskeletal, Computer; Ergonomics

Abstract

Previous research has suggested that some traits may be useful as the predictors of risk behaviours behaviors. Therefore, personality traits seem to play a role in accident involvement. The purpose of this study is was to explore the relationship between the personality traits based on the Big Five Inventory (BFI) and worker accident experiences in order to elaborate personality traits based intervention for workplace accident prevention. A cross cross-sectional study was conducted among 173 workers in a cement company using a set of questionnaires consisting of respondents’ characteristics, BFI, and self-reported accident experience. The correlations were computed using Goodman Kruskal’s Gamma. A negative correlation between Extraversion dimension and accident experience was found to be approaching significant (G=- 0.273, p = 0.061). Workers with lower Extraversion dimensions, based on BFI, are recommended to have priority needs be prioritized for training or to be assigned to less hazardous workplaces.

Abstract

There has been a rapid growing of m-commerce application in recent years due to the development of mobile communication technology and e-commerce business. However, only about 30% of online users, who conduct online searching, make online purchases. The low conversion rate seems to be correlated with poor usability aspect of most m-commerce applications and poor satisfaction reported by users. Research has reported that satisfaction and continuance intention in using m-commerce applications have relationships with service quality and information quality. In this study, a new model of user satisfaction and continuance intention in the context of mobile application was proposed by incorporating usability aspect. The study involved 230 respondents. To develop a new reliable and valid model, this study used Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) that include two stage evaluation, namely measurement model evaluation and structural model evaluation. Results demonstrated 34 valid and reliable indicators which can be used to measure service quality, information quality, usability, user satisfaction and continuance intention in M-commerce application. There were positive and significant relationships among service quality, information quality, usability, user satisfaction, and continuance intention. This study provide evidence on the importance of usability aspect in M-commerce application for user satisfaction and continuance intention.

Abstract

Appropriate Technology (AT) is designed to substitute manual work and to increase productivity for small-medium businesses. Due to its low-cost technology that affects its design quality, the acceptance of AT appears to be low. A guideline has yet to be available to determine AT's design quality. The purpose of this study was to explore the efficacy of physiological measures collected from a Heart Rate Monitor (HRM) in differentiating mental workload in using AT. If applicable, these measures can provide objective data for AT evaluation. Several parameters were collected from HRM, including frequency domain and time domain. Two ATs were used for evaluation that represented “good” and “poor” agricultural processing machines. Eleven participants were involved in this study in which they used both ATs. The result of this studyis the ratio of Low Frequency and High Frequency (LF/HF) parameter detects differences perceived by the participants. The increase in the LF/HF value from the Commercial Extruder to the Customized Extruder is directly proportional to the increase in mental workload, where the Commercial Extruder is defined as a “good” AT design, and the Customized Extruder as a “poor” AT design. Therefore, it can be concluded that designs with specific guidelines can reduce the mental workload perceived by operators.
