Abstract

Improving the quality of education is closely related to improving human resource. Meanwhile, the quality of human resources at school is a partly relied to the quality of the principal. A principal is responsible to the success or failure of education. The problem lies upon the difficulty to find a credible principal who can manage the institution quite well. The jobs of a principal are (1) encourage the teachers to have continuous professional development, (2) become role model for everybody at school, (3) make innovation for the institution.

Abstract

Muhammadiyah Schools must have distinctive features that distinguish them from other schools. The distinguishing characteristic should be something of a positive nature so that it can make Muhammadiyah schools become excellent schools as mandated in the progressive educational interpretation. This should apply to all Muhammadiyah schools including Primary School or Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Muhammadiyah as the first and main formal education level. Thus SD / MI Muhammadiyah need to have distinguishing characteristics with other schools. Distinguishing features that can be the availability of teaching materials that are able to integrate the values of Islamic and Muhammadiyah in a various fields of study including mathematics. So this research is aimed to develop teaching materials in the form of integration module of ke-Islaman and ke-Muhammadiyahan value on mathematics material of data processing chapter. This study is a developmental study by modifying Borg & Gall (1985) development steps into steps that include: (1) Need Analysis (2) Module Design; (3) Module Development; (4) Products / Outputs. The results show that module development steps can produce ready-to-use modules in Primary School or Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Muhammadiyah in East Java or Indonesia.

Abstract

Introduction. In academic libraries, transformational and situational leadership is important as it can change organizational behavior and increase the staff performance.There is limited discussion types of leadership. This research discusses two types of leadership and develops a framework in academic libraries of ideal leadership. Data Collection Method. The paper used a qualitative approach and considered literature review from books, journals, and other sources related to the theme. Data Analysis. The paper analyzed various literature, examined and selected data, developed a theoretical framework, and conceptualized the contents. Result and Discussions. Transformational leadership in the academic library is appropriate to create a vision, however, staff commitments develop slowly. The leadership can be appropriately applied to the academic library with a few human resource as itemphasizes two-way communication to motivate staff. Meanwhile, in the situational leadership, organizational vision can be achieved when staff commitments are developed effectively. The situational leadership can be implemented in the academic libraries with large number of staff by using direct and two-way interaction, as staff motivation may increase when they are trusted. Conclusion. The transformational and situational leadershipsare effective when applied to the proper circumstances to achieve set goals. Library leaders need to consider strengths and weaknesses of the leadership style.

Abstract

Achievement of the objectives of education is very dependent on the skill and wisdom of the principal's leadership is one of the leaders of education. Because the principal is a professional officer in the school organization responsible for the regulation of all sources of the organization and collaborate with teachers in educating students to achieve educational goals. With the professionalism of this principal professional development of educational personnel is easily done because according to function, to understand the needs of school principals who he led to the competence of teachers not only stagnates the competence he had previously, but grew and developed so well that the professionalism of teachers will be realized.

Abstract

Career counseling is a process of assistance, information services and approach to the individual/ group of individuals to be able to know and understand themselves, to know the world of work to determine the career choice, able to take career decisions and acknowledge that the decision is the most appropriate / in accordance with the situation himself associated with requirements to be practiced career. Given the importance of career problems in human life, the children need to be prepared early on and helped to plan for a brighter future, by providing education and career guidance sustainable. Schools have an important role in career guidance. Through career counseling in elementary, junior high, high school and college facilitate learners in the achievement of his career.

Abstract

The concept of prophetic leadership is basically a concept of leadership that is run by the Prophet and Messenger where in fact they are human just like his people, but they have the privilege and has properties which are noble and sublime in accordance with his position. Should the leaders in various institutions and levels must have and uphold the as-Siddiq (the truth), Amanah (Honesty), Tabligh (speak the truth and honesty as well Fathonah (intelligently manage institutions, human resources, natural resources and state assets. Similarly, leaders must be good examples in all asepek good life in society, nation and state.

Abstract

The phenomena of radicalism, including in religiosity, occur in any country and have become a global trend. Their fast widespread is supported by technological development especially in communication and information fields. One of effective ways to deal with radicalism is strengthening the family institution and optimizing its function in shaping the family members’ personality. Sadly, many families become less aware of their importance in exercising such noble function and task. Worse still, some recent radical actions in Indonesia even involved wives and children which reflect the failure of family institution in creating a peaceful and tranquil society where they live in. This paper tries to recall and re-understand the urgency of family institution to educate the family members in facing radicalism. This study is a library research employing the discourse analysis method. The results show that indeed the family institution plays a significant role in shaping their members’ personality and can contribute determinately in brushing radicalism aside and creating a peaceful society.
