Issue of Big Data was already raised by Fremont Rider, an American Librarian from Westleyan University, in 1944. He predicted that the volume of American universities collection would reach 200 million copies in 2040. As a result, it brings to fore multiple issues such as big data users, storage capacity, and the need to have data analysts. In Indonesia, data analysts is still a rare profession, and therefore urgently needed. One of its distinctive tasks is to conduct visual analyses from various data resources and also to present the result visually as interesting knowledge. It becomes science enliven by interactive visualization. In response to the issue, librarians have already been equipped with basic information management. Yet, they can see the opportunity and improve themselves as data analysts. In developed countries, it is common that librarian are also regarded as data analysts. They enhance themselves with various skills required, such as cloud computing and smart computing. In the end librarian with data analysts competency are eloquent to extract and present complex data resources as interesting and discernible knowledge.Â

The rapid growth of information is supported by the development of information and communication technologies, especially digital information. On the other hand, the information that hasnât been digitalized but has long-term benefit values in order to persist through the media transfer processes. The library and archive institution playing the role to manage the various documents so that people can access them needs to preserve the documents in order to give benefits for the future generation. The library and archive institution of Central Java as the institution managing the information has preserved various documents such as cartography documents. This case study research focused on the transformation model of cartography documents in which its contents should be preserved through scanning processes. The results showed that the processes, facilities, technical specification, application tool of the media transformation activities, and storage process of the preserved documents were to preserve the information values within.Â

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh adanya ketersediaan layanan hotspot area dengan tingkat peminjaman koleksi di UPT Perpustakaan UMK. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah kualitatif dengan metode analisis deskriptif. Adapun subjek penelitian yang dijadikan sumber dalam peneliti ini sebanyak5 (lima) informan. Penelitian ini memilih karakteristik orang yang berbeda-beda yaitu pemustaka yang sering datang ke perpustakaan, pemustaka yang sering menggunakan layanan hotspot area, dan pemustaka yang bersedia menjadi informan. Jenis dan sumber datayang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu sumber data  primer dansekunder.   Teknik  pengumpulan   data             menggunak metode observasi, wawancara,  dan studi pustaka. Teknik analisis data menggunakan reduksi data, penyajian data serta penarikan kesimpulan dan verifikasi. Hasil yang diperoleh dari penyediaan layanan hotspot area terhadap tingkat peminjaman adalah adanya pengaruh positif, karena pemustaka mencari mencari sumber informasi dari berbagai sumber salah satunya dari buku dan internet. Pemustaka tidak hanya mencari infromasi di internet karena semua informasi yang ada di internet belum tentu valid datanya. Maka dari itu pemustaka juga mencari informasi dari buku karena buku merupakan sumber informasi yang dapat dipertanggung jawabkan kebenrannya karena penulis, penerbit serta sumbernya jelas. Oleh karena itu pemustaka menggunakan internet dan buku sebagai salah satu sumber informasi. Agar pemustaka dapat menemukan informasi secara cepat, tepat dan teringat. Simpulan dari penelitian ini adalah pemustaka sudah tahu mengenai keberadaan layanan hotspot areadi UPT Perpustakaan UMK. Pemustaka juga sudah dapat menggunakan layanan tersebut dengan baik. Hal ini bisa dilihat dari ramainya pemustaka yang menggunakan layanan hotspot area. Secara keseluruhan layanan hotspot area di UPT Perpustakaan UMK sudah sangat baik tapi tetap perlu adanya perbaikan dibeberapa bagian seperti : peningkatan kecepatan internet, penambahan sarana dan prasarana yang mendukung. Dengan adanya layanan hotspot area Perpustakaan UMK dapat membantu pemustaka dalam memenuhi kebetuhan informasi secara cepat, tepat dan akurat.

User satisfaction is one of success indicators of a library in providing service to users. This research is intended to investigate the user satisfaction on the service quality of Difabel Corner (DC) in the State Islamic University Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta Library. Respondents of the study were 24 students, all blind students from the year 2013 to 2016. The results show that the most contributive variable to user satisfaction is the affect of the service with an average score of 3.65. The ease of navigation is the most contributive dimension to the user satisfaction with an average score of 4.16. The average score of all variables is 3.47, which means that DC service provided by the State Islamic University Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta Library is perceived to be good and satisfying. Meanwhile the average score depicting the relationship between service quality and user satisfaction is 43.6, which is in a strong category.[Kepuasan pemustaka merupakan tolok ukur keberhasilan sebuah perpustakaan dalam memberikan pelayanan kepada pemustaka. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui tingkat kepuasan pemustaka dan besar hubungannya terhadap kualitas layanan Difabel Corner (DC) di Perpustakaan UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta yang dikaji dengan menggunakan 3 variabel layanan dan 14 dimensi layanan. Metode yang digunakan adalah deskriptif kuantitatif, dan data dikumpulkan observasi, studi pustaka, angket, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Populasi yang digunakan adalah semua mahasiswa tunanetra angkatan 2013-2016 sejumlah 24 orang. Variabel yang paling berkontribusi terhadap kepuasan mahasiswa adalah kinerja petugas dalam melayani (service of affect) dengan skor rata-rata 3,65, sementara dimensi yang paling berkontribusi adalah kemudahan akses (ease of navigation) dengan skor rata-rata 4,16. Nilai rata-rata semua variabel adalah 3,47, yang menunjukkan layanan DC Perpustakaan UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta dirasakan sudah baik dan memuaskan. Sementara hubungan kualitas layanan dengan kepuasan pemustaka adalah 43,6 yang masuk pada kategori yang kuat.]

AbstractThis paper discusses the role of public libraries in political literacy programs. This paper uses literature review methods from various sources. The data shows that there is still a knowledge gap in the political and citizenship fields in Indonesia. The impact of knowledge gaps in politics and citizenship makes it easy for people to be controlled by a variety of external factors which sometimes aim for negative things, and to reduce these gaps requires open learning so that people increasingly know their role as citizens. The Public Library has the duty to educate people's lives through various literacy programs or learning for the community. The Public Library is required to take part in political literacy programs so that citizens have knowledge and have an attitude in determining political choices. The results of the study show that there are several political literacy models that can be carried out by the Public Library in the context of political learning and citizenship for all levels of society. Recommendations that can be given include (1) Libraries need to be more pro-active in building networks with various parties so that they become a source of learning for people with various subjects. (2) The library develops literacy activities in various fields and carefully recognizes people who will use literacy programs. so that it can be useful.Keywords : Public Libraries, Political Literacy.

This study aims to find out about the process of activities from the beginning to the end about the management and organization of information held at the Information Technology Faculty of Satya Wacana Christian University in Salatiga. This study This study used a qualitative approach using the case study method. One interesting thing to do is that in the management activities of stored information various kinds of documents result from various activities of the academic community. Documents and information held by the Information Technology Faculty are divided into 2 groups. The first group is an archival document and the second group is a library document. This research focuses on managing library documents. In implementing this management and information organization activities, the SWCU Information Technology Faculty formed a task force under the name of the Center for Documentation and Scientific Information. The main task of the task unit is to plan, carry out and make reports on the implementation of tasks. The results of this study that the organization and retrieval of information and documents using the information system diagramming framework introduced by Doyle. Some of the problems that were encountered were that the space available for this activity was incomplete and was still waiting for the purchase or procurement of various equipment to support the creation of better and more adequate information organizing activities.

Satya Wacana Christian University (SWCU) Library and Information Science Study Program students have studied information science at an early study stage, so they consistently seek information. This study aimed to investigate the information-seeking patterns of the SWCU Library and Information Science Study Program students using Ellis' theory. This study used descriptive quantitative research methods. Determination of respondents used quota sampling for active students from class 2015 to 2019 using Google forms. Based on the study results, respondents searched for information according to information-seeking behavior: starting, chaining, browsing, differentiating, monitoring, and extracting activities. Respondents in starting activities can already determine the topic of information before seeking the information needed, with a value of 82.6%. Respondents in chaining activities could relate the information obtained through the initial search, with a value of 83.4%. Respondents in browsing activities could search for information in a structured manner, with a value of 78.4%. Respondents in differentiating activities could categorize the information needed, with a value of 83%. Respondents in monitoring activities always made notes after obtaining the required information development, with a value of 79.1%. Respondents in extracting activities could ensure the accuracy of the information obtained through scanning techniques, with a value of 77.9%. However, there was a shift in the Ellis model of information-seeking patterns because some respondents had several stages of information-seeking. The conclusion is that the development of information technology has influenced the student's information-seeking pattern.

Every organization, both government and private, in the process of its activities willproduce a record of activity information which is called an archive. In organizationallife, there are dynamic archives and static archives. The management of this type ofarchive is different considering that each has a different use value. This study wants toknow more deeply about archive management in government institutions, especially atthe Dinas Kearsipan dan Perpustakaan Kabupaten Cilacap which also receivedrecognition for its achievements. This study uses a descriptive qualitative method withinterviews with archivists. The results of this study note that archive management ingovernment institutions is regulated by various government guidelines and regulations.Archival services are also developed based on information technology. The managementof static archives, especially in the form of archive acquisition, is carried out in agenciesthat are disbanded, merged and/or liquidated. The acquisition is carried out on archivesthat have static value and or have retention of more than 10 years.

ABSTRACT This research was conducted to determine the ability of new students to recognize information sources and use information, especially at Satya Wacana Christian University through an information literacy program implemented by the Library. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative study of existing literature and documents. Information literacy program for new students is carried out in order to provide knowledge and experience in the way of learning in universities that are different from those at the high school level. The results of this research include the application of information literacy models whose elements are contained in information literacy models that are currently known globally.
