Abstract

This research aims to explain the forms of hedonism lifestyle of urban teenagers, the factors that cause hedonism lifestyle of urban teenagers, and the impact of hedonism lifestyle of urban teenagers in Mariposa novel by Luluk HF. The teory used in this research is literary sociology theory. This type of research is literary research using descriptive method. The data source of this research is the novel Mariposa by Luluk HF. The results of this research are (1) there are three forms of hedonism lifestyle of urban teenagers, namely (a) activities, (b) interests, and (c) opinions. (2) The factors that cause the hedonism lifestyle of urban teenagers are divided into two, namely (a) internal factors are factors that encourage someone to do something that comes from within that person consisting of attitudes, personality, and self-consept and (b) external factors are factors that cause something to happen that comes from outside the individual, consisting of one, namely family. (3) The impact of hedonism lifestyle of urban teenagers divided into two, namely (a) being a pursuer of physical identity and (b) having a high taste.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the types and forms of human values in the short story collection Dua Tengkorak Kepala from Cerpen Pilihan Kompas: 2000. Using the sociology of literature theory, this qualitative research employs a descriptive method. The Dua Tengkorak Kepala collection serves as the data source for this research. Data collection methods include reading and comprehending the stories in Dua Tengkorak Kepala, identifying and recording elements related to human values in the stories, and identifying events that reflect human values. The validation technique used in this research is triangulation. Data analysis techniques involve classifying data based on the speech/actions or thoughts of characters and narrators that relate to human values, analyzing/interpreting the data, summarizing the analysis results, and writing the report. The results of this study are: (1) Types of human values. Human values are categorized into four parts: (a) Human and God, (b) Human and Nature, (c) Human and Others, and (d) Human and Self; (2) Forms of human values, categorized into five parts: (a) Value of Truth, (b) Value of Peace, (c) Value of Compassion, (d) Value of Righteous Behavior, and (e) Value of Nonviolence.

Abstract

Censorship, a tool of cultural hegemony often employed by colonizers, was practiced by the Dutch colonials in the Dutch East Indies through the people's reading commission or Balai Pustaka, as evidenced in the Nota Rinkes, which prohibited literary works with subversive political content, religious sentiments, and immoral themes. This study explores the content of the novel Sitti Nurbaya, a prominent publication from Balai Pustaka, using a postcolonial approach and Gramsci's theory of cultural hegemony as analytical tools. The findings reveal that Sitti Nurbaya contains elements of progressive politics through the Belasting riots, intense religious sentiment in defense of Adat teachings, and characters with flawed morals. Consequently, it is concluded that Sitti Nurbaya managed to circumvent Balai Pustaka's censorship and functioned as an organic intellectual, sparking anti-colonial awareness.

Abstract

Keberadaan karang taruna dimaksudkan sebagai wadah pemuda untuk dapat mengembangkan diri dan berpartisipasi dalam kehidupan bersosial dan bermasyarakat. Untuk itu, pemuda diharapkan dapat memberikan kontribusi bagi Masyarakat sekitarnya. Tulisan ini dilatarbelakangi adanya femonema pemuda anggota karang taruna kota Padang yang masih memerlukan isntensifikasi keterampilan berbicara untuk mendukung lifeskill mereka. Tidak sedikit dari pemuda masih kesulitan untuk menunjukkan kontribusi di Masyarakat karena masih kurangnya kketerampilan yang dimiliki. Salah satu keterampilan yang dapat dikembangkan dan dijadikan lifeskill adalah keterampilan berbicara. Keterampilan berbicara dikhususkan pada kemampuan public speaking lebih khusus lagi adalah Master of Ceremony (MC). Untuk itu, tulisan ini bertujuan untuk menunjukkan peningkatan keterampilan berbicara pemuda anggota karang Taruna kota Padang. Metode yang digunakan dalam kegiatan ini adalah pelatihan komprehensif melalui workshop terbimbing. Hasil yang dicapai dari kegiatan ini adalah pertama, subjek kegiatan ini mampu memahami dasar-dasar master of ceremony (MC). Kedua, subjek kegiatan ini mampu menulis skenario susunan acara formal dan non formal. Ketiga, subjek kegiatan ini mampu membawakan skenario susunan acara formal dan non formal.
