Abstract

Orientation: This research is about the development of CTL-based English instructional mate- rials of English for Specific Purpose.Research Purpose: The purpose of this study is to determine the type of contextual materials used in English language, develop English for Specific Purpose materials that integrate CTL, and assess the effectiveness of instruction by using CTL-based materials.Motivation for the study: The research provides a starting point in identificating the students need and provide them with suitable materials in the form of module.Reasearch design, Approach, and Method: The method of research was a research and development. The method of data collection were observation, interviews, study the document, portofolio, and tests. The technique of data analysis in this study used mixed method.Main Findings: The Results showed that ESP materials used POLTEK Jawa Timur looked traditional and they were focused more in using textbook, white board, and face to face interaction. CTL based materials has been developed systematically and revised based on recommendation, and the use of CTL based materials is more effective than ordinary materials.Contribution/Value-add: The process leads the lecturers in collaboratively handling students’ difficulties. It also showed the students the proper way of citation, understanding, and synthesizing the terms related to the ideas they had.

Abstract

Konsepsi-konsepsi yang paling menonjol mengenai kurikulum bisa diklasifikasikan menjadi empat golongan, yaitu: humanistik, rekonstruksionalis sosial, teknologis, dan akademik. Perumus dari tiap-tiap jenis kurikulum tersebut masing-masing memiliki pertanyaan yang berbeda mengenai kurikulum: apa yang harus diajarkan? Kepada siapa? Kapan? Dan bagaimana? Para penganut kurikulum humanis menyarankan bahwa sebuah kurikulum seharusnya memberikan wadah bagi pengalaman pribadi yang memuaskan bagi setiap siswa. Para humanis baru merupakan pelaku aktualisasi diri yang melihat kurikulum sebagai sebuah proses liberasi yang memenuhi kebutuhan akan pertumbuhan dan integritas pribadi. Namun demikian para humanis tersebut jangan diartikan sebagai pendidik dalam tradisi seni liberal yang menganggap humaniora sebagai disiplin ilmu yang terpisah, seperti: seni, musik, dan sastra, dan mereka yang berusaha untuk berhubungan dengan manusia hanya melalui karya kultural. Para rekonstruksionis sosial menekankan kebutuhan sosial yang terdapat pada kepentingan individual. Mereka menyatakan bahwa tanggung jawab sebuah kurikulum adalah untuk melakukan reformasi sosial dan menurunkan masa depan yang lebih baik bagi masyarakat. Mereka menekankan perkembangan nilai-nilai sosial dan penerapannya di dalam proses berpikir kritis. Teknologis melihat penyusunan kurikulum merupakan sebuah proses teknologis untuk meraih apa yang dikehendaki oleh pembuat kebijakan. Mereka menganggap dirinya bertanggung jawab untuk menciptakan realita yang menunjukkan bahwa kurikulum yang mereka susun sesuai dengan tujuan yang dikehendaki. Efisiensi dan akuntabilitas merupakan nilai akhir bagi seorang teknolog. Orientasi mereka tidaklah netral karena teknolog memiliki komitmen terhadap suatu metode yang akhirnya akan berpengaruh terhadap tujuan dan isi kurikulum. Orang yang memiliki orientasi akademik memandang kurikulum sebagai kendaraan yang bisa digunakan oleh pembelajar untuk mengenali disiplin ilmu dan mengenali bidang-bidang ilmu yang terorganisir. Mereka melihat isi yang terorganisir dari disiplin ilmu tersebut lebih sebagai sebuah kurikulum yang harus dicapai daripada sebuah sumber informasi untuk mendalami masalah personal dan lokal. Orang yang termasuk dalam kategori ini menganggap bahwa kurikulum akademik merupakan cara terbaik untuk mengembangkan pemikiran – bahwa penguasaan sejenis pengetahuan yang biasa ditemukan pada kurikulum semacam itu akan membentuk cara berpikir rasional.

Abstract

Language and the speech society can not even be separated to each other, because when there is a language, there will be a speech community and vice-versa. Langauge has even become one of condition of society. The existence and use of the language in society is learned through sociolinguistics, which views language as a means of communication rather than a system alone, bearing varieties in line with the given social domains. On the other hand, the traditional language teaching has regarded language as a system, which entails structuralism models of teaching. In the development of the language teaching methods, language is not merely seen as a system, rather than a communication tool, just as sociolinguistics have suggested. This articles discusses the role of sociolingusitics in the development of teaching models, beginning from the nature of speech community, language function up to sociolinguistics-based language teaching models.Key words: Sociolinguistics, Language Teaching

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to identify the cohesive devices and thematic progression which are constructed in texts made by ELT 7th Students of IKIP PGRI Madiun on Final Project of Psycholinguistic Class. This research is conducted by using Discourse Analysis and qualitative research approach. The type of this research is library research, using document as object. The technique of analysing data is Flow Model. This result of this research are: (1) The researcher finds that the cohesive devices which the most frequently used in all data is Reference with the total 122 reference, 5 substitution, 4 ellipsis, 86 conjunction, and 15 lexical cohesion. (2) The researcher finds that thematic progression in each data is different. Data one consists of 9 Linear TP and 8 Constant TP. Data two consists of 10 Linear TP, 7 Constant TP, 1 Split Theme, and 2 Split Rheme. Data Three consist of 4 Linear TP and 11 Constant TP. Data four consists of 18 Linear TP, 3 Constant TP, and 1 Split Rheme. And the last one is data five consists of 4 Linear TP, 2 Constant TP, and 2 Split Rheme.

Abstract

This research was conducted to determine and analyze the Effect of Capital Adequacy, Lending of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises on Company Performance.The object of research on PT. Bank Rakyat Indonesia for the period 2012-2021.  The data used in this study is secondary data, The data analysis techniques used are descriptive statistical analysis, classical assumption test, multiple linear regression, statistical test. The results of this study show that partially capital adequacy has no effect and is not significant on the company's performance, the distribution of micro, small and medium enterprises loans has an effect and is significant on the company's performance, capital adequacy and the distribution of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) loans simultaneously affect the company's performance.

Abstract

This article will describe the physical image and psychological image of modern women in the novel " Lebih Senyap dari Bisikan " by Adinda Dwifatma. The theories used are Djajanegara's feminist literary criticism theory, Sugihastuti's image of women, and Bruns' self-image. The data analysis technique uses a Flow Model which includes data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The findings show that the modern woman depicted is a woman who is slim and smooth, a woman who is mature, and cares about her health. Then, psychologically, modern women are characterized as women who are technologically literate, independent, easy to get along with, tough and hardworking, and have anxiety.Keywodrs: image; contemporary women; literary feminismAbstrak:Artikel ini akan mendeskripsikan citra fisik dan citra psikis perempuan modern dalam novel “Lebih Senyap dari Bisikan” karya Adinda Dwifatma. Teori yang digunakan adalah teori kritik sastra feminis Djajanegara, citra perempuan Sugihastuti, dan citra diri Bruns. Teknik analisis data menggunakan Flow Model yang meliputi reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil temuan menunjukkan bahwa  perempuan modern yang digambarkan merupakan perempuan yang langsing dan mulus, perempuan yang dewasa, dan peduli terhadap kesehatan. Kemudian, secara psikis perempuan modern memiliki ciri sebagai perempuan yang melek teknologi, mandiri, mudah akrab, tangguh dan pekerja keras, serta memiliki kecemasan.Kata kunci: citra; fenimisme sastra; perempuan modern

Abstract

This research serves to improve the official letter writing skills of fifth-grade students at SDN Serag, Pulung District, Ponorogo Regency, through the Problem Based Learning model. The research was conducted in two cycles using a qualitative approach. Data collection techniques included observation, interviews, written tests, and documentation. The data analysis technique applied in this research is qualitative data analysis. The results showed that the Problem Based Learning model was able to improve students' ability to write official letters. In the pre-action phase, mastery was only 12.5%, increasing to 63% in Cycle I, and reaching 82% in Cycle II, exceeding the 75% target. Problem Based Learning also proved to make learning more enjoyable, enhance critical thinking, collaboration, conceptual understanding, meticulousness, independence, and the relevance of material to real-world situations. Although challenges such as discussion dominance and lack of confidence existed, overall Problem Based Learning was very effective.
