Krisis spiritual yang melanda sebagian besar manusia modern menumbuhkan sebuah gejala yang saat ini tampak menjadi tren baru, bahwa manusia mulai beralih pada dimensi esoterik sebagai pilihan menghadapi kebuntuan modernisme. Wajah modernisme yang tampak anggun nan kokoh dalam filsafat rasionalismenya membawa aspek negatif yang sangat besar. Bentuk pemikiran ini telah menjerumuskan manusia dalam krisis kehidupan yang kompleks dan bersifat global. Permasalahan manusia modern ternyata tidak berhenti dalam tataran idealitas tentang konsep keseimbangan antara dimensi spiritual dan material. Karena dari permasalahan kekeringan spiritual telah memicu persoalan lain yang tidak kalah berbahaya dan terasa begitu nyata dalam kehidupan manusia sekarang, yakni krisis sosial. Berbagai permasalahan sosial yang sedang terjadi dalam dunia modern merupakan sumbangan dari kekeringan spiritualâkalau tidak dikatakan sebagai akar dari permasalahan zaman ini. Kesadaran dan keprihatinan yang mendunia ini menyebabkan ancaman pada manusia yang bersifat katastrofal, artinya ancaman tersebut terjadi dalam skala besar, terjadi secara bersamaan dan dalam lingkup luas. Maka kesimpulan yang didapat adalah bahwa manusia sekarang telah kehilangan makna perjuangan dalam rangka pemeliharaan martabat manusia. Hal ini dikarenakan kondisi yang mengancam eksistensi manusia, masalah tindakan moral di tingkat individu dan sosial, juga akibat-akibat perang adalah merupakan implikasi yang dimutlakkan oleh kebenaran teknologi dan sains modern. Spiritual crisis that hit most modern humans cultivate a phenomenon that currently appear to be a new trend, that man began to turn to the esoteric dimension as the choice facing a deadlock modernism. Modernism face that looks elegant and robust in the philosophy of rationalism bring huge negative aspects. Forms of human thought has been plunged into a crisis of life is complex and global nature. The problems of modern man did not stop at the level of the ideals of the concept of balance between the spiritual and material dimensions. Because of the problems of spiritual drought has triggered another issue that is no less dangerous and feels so real in peopleâs lives now, the social crisis. Social issues going on in the modern world is the contribution of spiritual drought-otherwise said to be the root of the problem today. Global awareness and concern this causes a threat to humans who are katastrofal, meaning that these threats occur on a large scale, occur simultaneously and in scope. Then the conclusion obtained is that humans now have lost the meaning of the struggle within the framework of the maintenance of human dignity. This is because the conditions that threaten human existence, the problem of moral action at individual and social levels, as well as the consequences of the war is a result of the truth that is absolutized by technology and modern Science.

The Islamic experience in the modern world reconstitutes the relation between human and God on the basis of the fundamental authority of the holy Quran. Mosque as a symbol, this monument to political power contains some of the most basic contradictions thats characterize Muslim societies in the modern world. A similar distinction applies to the to the morning officialy attributed to the mosque, it maybe “openâ€, “toleranâ€, “cosmopolitanâ€, and “modern†Muslim reformers, embattled governments against increasingly militant oppositional groups which have adopted Islam as an overarching instrument of discourse and struggle. Muslim reformers, activists, and militants nearly always say that theirs is a “movementâ€, a ‘current†which is still in the process of gestation and evolution. Emancipatory politics is concerned, above all, with themes of justice, equality, and participation, the very same themes that most Muslim reformers are in fact concerned with. Islamic experience involves a redefination of identity in a world which has become homogenized by the globalizing process of modernism The Islamic experience is therefore a call for an emancipatory politics which means justice where there is none, a more egalitarian distribution of wealth and a more democratic system of decision making.Â

Rationalities is being have sufficient as the new god of modern humans. Being the fuel of spirit, they try to negate ?Being? or metaphysical. The impact of it they alienate the social crisis and spiritual crisis. The extremely spiritual crisis generates atheism or at least agnostic. They leaned on the knowledges and technologist which have suspected them as the driving force of modernization process have resulted the higher degree of modern humans? rationality. Instead of losing the beliefs is precisely created the public sphere. The humans modern try to find the spiritual leaned by the Sufism way. One of the interesting Sufism figures to be studied is Ibn Atha`illah. This paper studies about the Ibn Atha`illah?s view in the modern of philosophical Sufism. Practically he was more emphasize the Sufism?s value in ma?rifat view. He is also the main figure of Sufism but his activities or influences was only in it. Ibn Atha`illah was known as the master of Islamic laws in mazhab Maliki and akidah, the competence which as a rule of religious exoteric.

This article discusses the philosophical dimension of post-modern societies. It examines the champion of rationalities of modern human beings and contends its contemporary limits. It argues that the modern rational philosophies that over-simplify the meaning “being” in metaphysical form has led to the civilizational crisis. In religious dimension, modern human has been sacrificing their inner spiritual dimension of humanity. As a response to this crisis, modernity has initiated the birth of “spiritual turn” that modern human tries to reinvent their spirituality, mainly through Islamic Sufism. This article further examines the significance of Sufi concepts of the 14th century Sufi master Ibn Atha`illah (1259-1310). Examining his Sufi concepts from the lights of post-modern philosophy as panacea for modern diseases, this article found that the concept of spiritual knowledge (ma’rifat) is an essential concept as transcending the limits of rationality and materiality of modern philosophy
