Abstract

Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan membagi rumusan masalah menjadi 2 bagian yaitu bagaimana karakteristik lalu lintas (arus, kecepatan, dan kepadatan) di jalan Tol Jagorawi arah Bogor dan bagaimana karakteristik lalu lintas di jalan Tol Jagorawi yang menuju Bogor serta korelasi dengan kecelakaan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menyelesaikan rumusan masalah yang ditetapkan yaitu untuk menganalisis karakteristik  lalu lintas (volume, kecepatan dan kepadatan) di jalan Tol Jagorawi arah Bogor dan mengkaji kecelakaan lalu-lintas di jalan Tol Jagorawi arah Bogor serta korelasi dengan karakteristik lalu-lintas. Metode yang digunakan untuk mencapai tujuan penelitian ialah dengan menggunakan metode regresi linear untuk menentukan hubungan antarvariabel lalu lintas melalui model Greenshields untuk pengolahan data primer dan metode tabulasi silang berdasarkan identifikasi kecelakaan untuk pengolahan data sekunder. Adapun untuk data primer didapatkan dengan melakukan perekaman data di area penelitian yang ditentukan dan data sekunder didapatkan dari data Laporan Kepolisian RI (KA Induk PJR Jagorawi). Setelah dilakukan pengolahan data maka didapatkan hasil yang menunjukkan bahwajumlah atau bobot kecelakaan terbesar berada di KM.6+400-KM.14+600 dengan kondisi jumlah arus kendaraan dan kecepatan tempuh yang tergolong rendah (berada kurang dari nilai median) sedangkan kepadatan yang tinggi (berada lebih dari nilai tengah) menghasilkan jumlah kecelakaan terbesar sehingga dapat disimpulkan bahwa pada segmen ini kecelakaan terbesar terdapat pada kondisi area penelitian yang cukup padat dengan jenis kecelakaan depan-belakang.Pada segmen/penggal jalan di lokasi KM.3+867-KM.4+700 memiliki jumlah dan bobot kecelakaan paling rendah bahwa jumlah arus dan kepadatan tidak mempengaruhi jumlah kecelakaan karena kecepatan  maksimum mencapai 34 km/jam ditambah kepadatan paling tinggi di segmen ini menyebabkan pengemudi kehilangan konsentrasi tinggi dengan jenis kecelakaan depan-belakang dan tunggal yang mendominasi.Dari perhitungan uji korelasi didapatkan nilai korelasi (r11) dan nilai determinasi (KD) masing-masing variabel yaitu korelasi angka kecelakaan dan volume sebesar 0,94, angka kecelakaan dan kecepatan sebesar 0,93, angka kecelakaan dan kepadatan 0,93 sehingga dapat disimpulkan bahwa terdapat hubungan linier diantara ketiga variabel tersebut. Kata Kunci :   karakteristik lalu lintas, jumlah dan bobot kecelakaan, jenis kecelakaan, analisis regressi hubungan dengan modelgreenshield, korelasi kecelakaan dengan karakteristik lalu-lintas.

Abstract

Driving a vehicle above the speed limit is unsafe driving behavior that may cause the occurrence of an accident. Speed limitation can be one way to improve road safety. This study aims to get an illustration of speed limit violation committed by the drivers on the national road segment, and also to investigate the demographic and psychological factors that affect driver behavior in violating the speed limit as stated in the traffic regulation. Speed data collection was carried out at the Bekasi Raya national road in Bekasi, while the demographic and psychological data were collected using questionnaires through online methods. The result of speed measurement using Speed Gun to 30 motorcycles, 30 light vehicles, and 30 heavy vehicles, shows that there are no light or heavy vehicles that drive above the speed limit. Speeding behavior only is indicated by a little number of motorcyclists. From the online survey through the distribution of questionnaires to 102 motorcyclists, it was found that speeding behavior tends to be done when they are in a rush situation. Mengendarai kendaraan di atas batas kecepatan (ngebut) merupakan perilaku mengendara yang berkontribusi terhadap terjadinya kecelakaan..Salah satu cara untuk meningkatkan keselamatan di jalan raya adalah dengan pembatasan kecepatan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendapatkan gambaran tentang pelanggaran batas kecepatan yang dilakukan pengemudi di ruas jalan nasional, dan faktor-faktor demografis, serta faktor psikologis yang berperan dalam perilaku pengendara kendaraan bermotor melanggar batas kecepatan yang telah ditentukan oleh peraturan lalu lintas. Pengambilan data kecepatan dilakukan di jalan nasional Bekasi raya, sedangkan data tentang faktor demografis dan psikologis diperoleh melalui penyebaran kuesioner melalui online. Hasil pengukuran kecepatan terhadap 30 sepeda motor, 30 kendaraan ringan, dan 30 kendaraan berat dengan Speed Gun menunjukkan bahwa tidak ada kendaraan ringan maupun kendaraan berat yang mengemudikan kendaraan di atas batas kecepatan. Perilaku ngebut dilakukan oleh sebagian kecil pengendara sepeda motor. Dari survey melalui penyebaran kuesioner terhadap 102 pengendara diperoleh gambaran bahwa perilaku ngebut cenderung dilakukan ketika berada pada situasi tergesa-gesa.

Abstract

A median is required for a two-way road to separate traffic from opposing lanes and to prevent head-on collisions. However, studies indicate that medians are also perceived as hazards which need to be avoided during driving. This hazard perception is manifested in drivers’ changing behavior towards various types of medians along the driving lanes inform of their tendency to allow various safe distances to the medians. The Indonesian Highway Capacity Manual (IHCM) does not differentiate between types of medians and the influence on the drivers’ choice of safe margin to the medians. Therefore, this study looks into how the existence and types of medians influence the safety distances of different categories of vehicles from different types of medians as the manifestation of their perception of hazard potentials of medians. Traffic recordings on different categories of vehicles are used to obtain movement margins of vehicles along various medians during near-saturated traffic. Using the smallest values of 10 and 90 percentile of distances, the results show that drivers shy from 0.27 m to 0.82 m from medians. The result of this study will contribute to the change of applied assumptions used in determining the effective lane capacity to road safety-based assumptions.

Abstract

This research was conducted to identify blackspots, determine the diagnosis and causes of accidents at the blackspot in Depok City, and develop a program for handling them. The method to identify the blackspot is the network screening method with the simple ranking method, ACF, and EPDO. In this study, a blackspot was found on Jalan Raya Bogor (in front of Pertamina gas stations), Sukamaju, Kec. Cilodong, Depok City. Traffic accidents that occur tend to be front-back and front-front collisions involving pedestrians and often occur at night with dim lighting conditions. There are several ways to handle blackspots or mitigating accidents, such as the installation of rumble strips, zebra cross, street lighting, signs, and tree logging. After handling the blackspot, the number of accidents is predicted to decrease from 7 to 3 accidents. The BCR value is 93,663 > 1, so that the treatment program is feasible to be implemented. ABSTRAK Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengidentifikasi blackspot, mengetahui diagnosis dan penyebab kecelakaan pada titik blackspot Kota Depok, serta menyusun program penanganan dan perbaikannya. Metode untuk menentukan titik-titik blackspot adalah network screening method dengan metode simple ranking, ACF, dan EPDO. Pada penelitian ini didapatkan titik blackspot di Jalan Raya Bogor Km. 37 (depan SPBU Pertamina 34.164.05), Sukamaju, Kec. Cilodong, Kota Depok. Kecelakaan lalu lintas yang terjadi cenderung bertipe tabrakan depan-belakang dan depan-depan yang melibatkan pejalan kaki dan dominan terjadi pada malam hari dengan kondisi pencahayaan redup. Penanganan yang dilakukan pada blackspot yaitu pemasangan pita penggaduh, zebra cross, lampu penerangan jalan, rambu-rambu, dan penebangan pohon. Setelah adanya penanganan blackspot, angka kecelakaan diprediksi berkurang dari 7 menjadi 3 kecelakaan. Didapatkan nilai BCR sebesar 93,663 > 1 sehingga program penanganan layak untuk dilaksanakan.

Abstract

The rapid growth of motorcycle vehicles coupled with inadequate traffic discipline contributes to an escalating rate of traffic accidents and casualties. This study investigates the efficacy of auxiliary road markings in enhancing traffic safety and intersection performance along Lieutenant Sutopo Street, Promoter Street, and Boulevard BSD East in South Tangerang, Indonesia. Employing the Traffic Conflict Technique (TCT), the research evaluates safety enhancements and service level alterations subsequent to the installation of road markings. Preliminary observations highlight significant safety concerns and traffic conflicts at the intersection. Consequently, auxiliary road markings are strategically installed to regulate driver behavior, enhance lane discipline, and improve visibility. Post-installation observations revealed a significant decrease in total vehicle conflicts, though the percentage of severe conflicts slightly increased. Initially rated as Level of Service (LOS) F with high delays, the LOS remained the same post-marking installation but with reduced delays. Further cycle time adjustments improved the LOS to E, indicating a substantial overall reduction in delays. The findings suggest that although auxiliary road markings effectively reduce traffic conflicts and improve intersection performance, additional measures are necessary to address the severity of these conflicts. The study offers valuable insights into the effectiveness of road safety interventions, supporting broader strategies for improving traffic management and safety in urban areas.

Abstract

Vehicle speed consistency plays a crucial role in maintaining traffic safety, with speed limits set to reduce accident fatalities. While the direct impact of speed limits on vehicle speed is minimal, their implementation significantly influences driver behavior, with about 85% of drivers complying with speed limits. However, variables such as traffic volume, weather conditions, and travel urgency often cause drivers to be inconsistent in adhering to these limits, increasing accident risk. On the Mojokerto-Surabaya toll road, data from Traffic Corps and Jasa Marga recorded 193 accidents with 101 fatalities from 2018 to August 2023, mostly caused by driver behavior such as excessive speed. This study analyzes the relationship between speed consistency and accident probability on this road, highlighting accident issues due to speed violations and inconsistency at ramp off/on locations. Results show the importance of toll road infrastructure considering vehicle volume, identifying accident blackspots, and implementing urgent speed management as key factors in improving safety on the Surabaya-Mojokerto toll road. The findings emphasize the need for better traffic management and speed regulation to reduce fatal accident risks.

Abstract

Yogyakarta has recorded a relatively high rate of traffic accidents, with a consistent trend throughout 2024. This condition is influenced by high traffic density, a consequence of increased activity in the education, tourism, and economic sectors, despite the implementation of various mitigation efforts. The aim of this study is to identify the variables that potentially influence the number of traffic accident casualties at (4 and T) intersections in Yogyakarta. The study utilized initial data collection through CCTV recordings at accident locations, data from the Integrated Road Safety Management System (IRSMS), Google Street View observations, and multiple linear regression analysis combined with variable reduction based on Variance Inflation Factor (VIF) values. The results indicate that eight variables significantly influence the number of traffic accident casualties in Yogyakarta. However, limited Smart City CCTV coverage restricts comprehensive analysis. Future research requires expanded intersection monitoring and extended study scope to enhance validity and representation.

Abstract

This study examined the influence of roadway geometry on traffic safety, focusing on the effects of hilliness and bendiness along a 9.28 km road segment in West Sumatra, Indonesia. Geometric data, including elevation and curvature, were collected using the GeoTracker application and processed with a Python-based sliding window segmentation of 1 km length and 50% overlap, resulting in 19 analysis segments. Traffic accident data were obtained from official police reports and included the number of crashes, minor injuries, serious injuries, and fatalities for each segment. Multivariate Analysis of Variance (MANOVA) was performed to evaluate the simultaneous effects of hilliness and bendiness on the crash variables. The results showed that hilliness significantly influenced the total number of accidents, while bendiness significantly affected the occurrence of serious injuries. Hilliness explained approximately 80% of the variance in accident frequency, and bendiness contributed substantially to variations in serious injuries. Although neither hilliness nor bendiness showed significant effects on minor injuries and fatalities, both factors exhibited positive trends in relation to increasing crash severity. The findings demonstrated that vertical elevation changes and horizontal curvature contributed significantly to traffic accident risks. The study suggested that incorporating these geometric parameters into road design, safety assessments, and targeted interventions could help reduce accident occurrences, particularly in mountainous and curvilinear roadway segments.

Abstract

The Value of Statistical Life (VSL) of residents in Dili City, Timor-Leste is examined in this research using the Willingness to Pay (WTP) method to determine how the public values reducing the risk of fatal traffic accidents. Data collection involved conducting structured face-to-face interviews in various offices and schools. Each respondent was presented with three hypothetical traffic safety programs offering risk reductions of 20%, 50%, and 65%. The associated WTP amounts were USD 12, USD 15, and USD 20, respectively. VSL was computed by dividing WTP by the corresponding percentage of risk reduction. The data were further analyzed using a binary logistic regression model, executed in R Studio software, to estimate the probability of WTP based on socioeconomic variables such as gender, age, education level, occupation, income, and cost of the proposed intervention. The regression results demonstrated a statistically significant and negative relationship between the program’s cost and the willingness to pay, indicating that greater expenses lowered public acceptance. The average individual VSL was calculated at USD 524.83 for female respondents and USD 398.07 for males. Using official records of 102 traffic-related fatalities in Dili during the 2022–2024 period, the Social Value of Statistical Life (SVSL) was estimated at USD 17,830.70 for females and USD 13,524.02 for males. Based on these findings, six policy recommendations are proposed: improved road infrastructure, strengthened law enforcement, public safety education, clearer traffic signage, adequate street lighting, and enhanced pedestrian protection.
