Abstract

This article is about an analysis of teaching and learning process in an English classroom. it also gives an explanation of the presence of Input-Interaction-Output (IIO). In the article, there are details of the type of input and role applied by the teacher, the type and role of interaction built, and the type of output and its lead. Besides, other elements such as English talk and lesson explanation, the feedback given by the teacher, language view, materials, and activity in the classroom, etc will include in the essay. The method applied in the article is document analysis. The result is that the way the teacher teaches, the method she applies, and the approach she implements can offer and encourage them to obtain the knowledge in a good way. These factors seem agreeable as the students can perceive her teaching style well. However, the material or the subject provided by the teacher seems much lower for the students’ capacity. Abstract

This article is to explain the implementation of KTSP curriculum which is invented in 2006 and is still implemented in some schools in Indonesia. Here, the writer includes several aspects, which are the current status of the curriculum, the relationship of curriculum with the mainstream environment, the organizing principle of the curriculum, theoretical approach of the curriculum, the theory of language learning, the curriculum and its context, curriculum and syllabus assessment. The method applied here is a library analysis toward KTSP curriculum. The result shows that the curriculum suits Indonesian students in almost sides since it requires teachers to develop the curriculum based on the context of schools and students’ capacity. Besides, the students will not face huge burden learning in a school since the teachers who formally recognize their students well develop all the teaching and learning syllabi. In conclusion, KTSP is a practically appropriate curriculum which has been implemented compared to previous curriculums. Indonesian government design it since this is a better innovative curriculum to apply to the educational institutions in Indonesia. The demand of the curriculum appears neither low nor high and is definitely achieved by the students.  Key Words: Analyzing, Curriculum, KTSP

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to integrate AREL into EFL Speaking in fostering critical thinking. The sample of this study was the grade XI 1A students of SMAN 4 Banda Aceh which is consisted of 26 students. This study was pre-experimental design with one group pre-test post-test. The instruments of this research is a test (pre-test and post-test). The finding of this study revealed 59,79 for the mean score of pre-test and 62,84 for the post-test, and the standard deviation for pre-test was 7,57 and post-test was 7,77, then the standard error of measurement for pre-test was 1,48 and 1,52 for post-test. Meanwhile, the result of this study indicate that t-test was 6,84 and t-table was 1,71. It represented that t-score is higher than t-table (6,84>1,71) which means that alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted and null hypothesis (Ho) was rejected. Thus, integrating AREL into EFL Speaking in fostering critical thinking can enhances students’ speaking ability and students got a positive impact after learning AREL in speaking grade.

Abstract

In this digital era, the use of YouTube video media in education sector becomes a need. Learning by using this media supplies a beneficial effect towards either the teacher or students. Researches related to using media in learning English language from year to year show the steady increase in an attempt to boost the students’ outcomes in English language skills. Yet, there has been found rarely the study exploring the EFL students’ perspectives on using the media in English learning. Therefore, it is critical to establish a study focusing on the EFL students’ perceptions towards the use of media particularly YouTube video media in learning English pronunciation. This study aims at exploring the EFL students’ perceptions towards the use of YouTube video media in learning English pronunciation whether positive or negative. This study employs a qualitative approach using questionnaire and observation sheet to 28 students of SMP 2 Mesjid Raya, Aceh. Therefore, based on the results of the questionnaire, it can be stated that the majority of students responded very positively to the use of YouTube-based video media. This is indicated by the high percentage of all statements on the aspects of students' interest in the use of the media in learning pronunciation. There is a positive significant result shown by the EFL students towards the use of YouTube video media in learning English pronunciation.
