Abstract

According to World  Health Organization (WHO), there are two major steps as a commitment to make changes in the implementation of pharmacy practice that are national drug policy and learning system changes in pharmacy education. The aim of the research was to obtain the cummulative credit overview in college of pharmacy in Indonesia that supporting Rational Drug Use based on promotion rational drug use (PRDU) and International network  rational use of drug (INRUD). This study used a analytic descriptive design. The study was located in some colleges of pharmacy in Indonesia. Data was collected through observation of the recent curriculum used in the Indonesian college of pharmacy. Research were conducted by giving a questionnaire on the rational drug use topic in the curriculum and in-depth interviews with the dean or faculties appointed by the dean. The number of credits developed by 21 colleges of pharmacy as respondents have in between 140-158 credits. Median number of credits developed by C accreditation level are more than A and B accreditation level. Three of  A accreditation level of colleges have number of credits in between 66-171 credits and a college with B accreditation level as much as 36.9 credits. Whereas in total of credits semester that support the RDU in Community and Clinical Pharmacy (CCP) interests has more than the non-CCP interests.

Abstract

The importance of pharmacovigilance activity is the Adverse Drug Reaction (ADR) reporting system. Many pharmacists who do not report ADR incident and number of ADR indicated that more knowledge and good perception of ADR is needed. This study was aimed at investigating the knowledge and perception of pharmacists towards the ADR reporting system of Community Pharmacists in Yogyakarta City, Indonesia. Cross sectional study design was conducted to community pharmacists (n=275) in Yogyakarta City, Indonesia on the period of November 2016 to March 2017. All data were analysed by Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) software V.16.0. Results were reported as frequency, and we used cross tabulation. The questionnaire consisted of questions about the sociodemographic characteristics of the Pharmacists. Furthermore, questionnaire with nine and eight points for assessing knowledge and perception about ADR Reporting System in Indonesia was used. The response rate of community pharmacists reached 36% (n = 100). A majority of the respondent was female (81%) and respondents of age group 20?30 years were predominantly (55%). Most of the respondents was graduated as pharmacist (85%), in the graduation year of 2010-2016 (55%). Most of the pharmacist had 1-5 years of work experience (44%) and never get pharmacovigilance training (86%). Most of the pharmacists had fair knowledge ( 40%) and fair perception (65%) towards the ADR reporting system. Pharmacovigilance training and last education of community pharmacists could influence the pharmacists? knowledge (p: 0.00 and 0.013, respectively). Moreover, there was no significant association between pharmacists? knowledge and perception (p > 0.496).

Abstract

Background: Health science development is currently rapidly changing due to the Covid-19. Changes have taken place not only in terms of scientific development but also in terms of learning methods. Almost all learning methods have shifted into online learning, requiring students to be more active.Objectives: This study aims to determine the level of SDLR among pharmacy students in Indonesia, especially during the pandemic.Methods: The sampling was conducted using an proportional sampling technique based on the distribution of Pharmacy Schools (PTF) in all the provinces in Indonesia. The level of readiness of these pharmacy students was measured using a questionnaire that consisted of four domains. The questions were scored according to the characteristics of the questions (negative or positive).Results: The results of this study showed that 1884 respondents participated in this study. The basic characteristics showed that 89.1% participants were private pharmacy schools and 84.4% of them were female respondents. The mean of each domains of SDLR for self-management, the desire to learn, the emotional competency, and the responsible decision-making was 3.24 ± 2.65, 3.37 ± 2.09, 3.04 ± 1 87, 3.16 ± 2.16, respectively. Based on gender, the difference of mean in sub domain was p=0.000 (need for learning), p=0.002 (hope for outcome), and p=0.000 (identifying problem).Conclusion: In conclusion, the Self-Directed Learning Readiness (SDLR) among pharmacy students in Indonesia is quite high during the pandemic with a score above 3 (scale 1-4).
