Abstract

The students’ higher order thinking skills were still low due to the learning system, such as the use of textbooks that have not led to an increase in higher order thinking skills. The availability of updated textbooks based on higher order thinking skills was needed in the university. The aim of this study was to develop a textbook based on higher order thinking skills on animal physiology course. The development model used in this study was the Thiagarajan (4D) development model which consisted of define, design, development and dissemination. However, the research stage carried out was only up to development. The developed textbook was validated based on three criterias, namely material, language and design. The developed textbook was also tested to students who have taken animal physiology course and obtained the students’ response. The result of validation by material expert was 86 in the category of “Very Good”, language expert was 88 in the category of “Very Good”, design expert was 87 in the category of “Very Good” and students’ response according to individually, small group and limited group were 86, 89 and 89 respectively. The whole students’ responses were categorized as “Very Good”. It can be concluded that the product can be used as a textbook in animal physiology course. This study is useful as a learning source for students and an alternative teaching material for lecturers, as well as improving the quality of animal physiology learning.

Abstract

This research aims to determine student literacy skills in SMA Negeri 1 Labuhan Deli T.P 2017/2018 and the relationship of literacy skills of students with the result of the biology subject in SMA Negeri 1 Labuhan Deli T.P 2017/2018. The population is all of students in X MIA and XI MIA SMA Negeri 1 Labuhan Deli T.P 2017/2018.The total population is 200 people. The sample is determined by Random Sampling, where a sample of 67 people. This research is a quantitative approach with a correlational method. The data collection tool used was a literacy skills questionnaire and cognitive biology test. From the results of the data requirements test it is known that students' literacy abilities and result of biology subject was distributed normally and homogeneous with an average score of 98.82 and a standard deviation of 13.359 for student literacy skills data, and an average value of 61.88 with a standard deviation of 14.807 for result of biology subject The results showed that students' literacy skills in SMA Negeri 1 Labuhan Deli T.P 2017/2018 were good and there was a significant positive relationship between literacy skills of students and result of biology subject in SMA Negeri 1 Labuhan Deli T.P 2017/2018. This is evidenced by the correlation value of 0.269 and a significant value of 0.028 (p <0.05) at a significance level of 5%. The conclusion that the better the students' literacy skills, the better the result of biology subject at SMA Neegeri 1 Labuhan Deli.

Abstract

ABSTRACK This study aims to identify the endophytic fungus from the bark of the plant raru (Cotylelobium melanoxylon). This study uses identification technique manually by viewing and comparing the macroscopic and microscopic morphological characteristics of each isolate endophytic fungi then seek to obtain dendogram similarity index which divides each isolate into several clusters/genus. Data were analyzed using cluster analysis Simple Matching Coefficient in the Multi Variate Statistical Package (MVSP) where each isolate that had ≥70 % similarity indices are grouped into one cluster/genus. The results of cluster analysis to get 8 cluster/genus endophytic fungi found in the bark of plants raru (Cotylelobium melanoxylon). Eighth genus included the genus Alternaria, Aspergillus, Botrytis, Debaromyces, Fusarium, Mycelia sterile, Nigrospora, and Scopulariopsis. This paper presents a description of the genus Botrytis. Kata Kunci: Identifikasi, Jamur Endofit, Cotylelobium Malanoxylon,  Indeks Similiritas
