Abstract

Introduction: Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) is a significant global health issue, requiring vigilance and adherence to health protocols to prevent transmission. This study aimed to develop an interprofessional collaborative model based on community sectoral coordination. Methods: A mixed-methods explanatory research design was employed, involving 934 respondents selected through convenience sampling. The research instrument was a modified version of a validated and reliable questionnaire covering interprofessional collaboration, community health nursing, alertness, compliance, and resilience. The data was analyzed using Partial Least Squares (PLS) to test the model's fit and predictive relevance. Results: The coefficient of determination (R²) was 0.772, indicating that 77.2% of the variance in interprofessional collaborative community sectoral coordination could be explained by individual, team, task, and work structure characteristics, as well as community leaders and cross-sectoral factors. The remaining 22.8% was attributed to other variables not included in this study. The Predictive Relevance (Q²) value was greater than 0, suggesting that the model was adequately predictive. Significance testing showed that the exogenous variables had a significant impact on endogenous variables with a total T-statistics value of 1.96 or P value <0.05. Conclusion: The developed interprofessional collaborative model based on community sectoral coordination significantly enhances community alertness, compliance, and resilience, contributing to the achievement of COVID-19 herd immunity.

Abstract

Kata Kunci : kanker; dukungan sosial; kualitas hidup; pemberdayaan Capacity Building for Paguyuban Sehat in PKK RW 5 Pacarkembang in Providing Social Support for Cancer PatientsABSTRACTTreatment of cancer patients is different from other diseases. Decreased immunity due to chemotherapy treatment, changing roles due to inability to work and adjustment to post chemotherapy conditions. decreases mental health and overall quality of life. The results showed that about 632 patients (82.3%) of cancer patients were in the category of Quality of Life (QOL) score below the average and the quality of life of cancer patients was affected by the reported symptoms. The high risk of prolonged stress and mental disorders in cancer patients is due in part to the lack of support from the community. Precautions need to be taken to minimize stress both physically and mentally. So far, the support given to cancer patients mainly comes from fellow sufferers. Support through Paguyuban Sehat for cancer patients is provided in three aspects. The first aspect is knowledge, where the Healthy Paguyuban will be given information related to cancer, treatment of cancer patients after surgery and during chemotherapy or radiation treatment. The second aspect is social, where strengthening support is given to cancer sufferers. The third aspect is spiritual where a person seeks meaning, purpose, and connection to higher powers, and enables the individual to function effectively toward his or her life goals. Keywords: cancer; empowerment; social support; quality of life

Abstract

Stunting is a global health issue that significantly impacts a country's well-being. Community empowerment, particularly through the role of posyandu (integrated health post) cadres and mothers of young children, is crucial in stunting prevention efforts. This community service program aimed to prevent stunting by educating the community using a health information pocketbook written in the local Suroboyoan language. Conducted in RW 5, Pacar Kembang Subdistrict, Surabaya, the program was attended by 30 participants, including posyandu cadres, pregnant women, and mothers of young children. The Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) method was implemented through socialization and interactive discussions. The program successfully increased the participants' average knowledge score from a pre-test score of 69.7 ± 15.19 to a post-test score of 86.7 ± 9.58, with a p-value of 0.000 (Wilcoxon test), indicating a statistically significant improvement. The use of a pocketbook based on the local language proved effective in enhancing participants' understanding of stunting prevention. This approach is not only locally relevant but also has the potential to be replicated in other areas with cultural adaptations. Additionally, this model can be integrated into community health programs to support sustainable efforts in stunting prevention and improving public health literacy.

Abstract

Burn injuries are a global health issue, particularly second-degree burns, which damage both the epidermis and dermis. This has led to the exploration of natural treatments like Moringa oleifera (moringa) and Aloe vera for their potential in wound healing, pain relief, and infection prevention. This study aimed to evaluate the efficacy of a topical formulation containing extracts of Moringa oleifera and Aloe vera in accelerating the healing of second-degree burn wounds. This study employed a true experimental design with Sprague Dawley rats, divided into four groups (control positive, control negative, and two treatment groups). The experiment utilized topical formulations combining different concentrations of Moringa oleifera and Aloe vera extracts. The wound healing process was assessed through macroscopic observation and histopathological analysis, measuring the diameter of the burn wounds at different time intervals. Results showed that formulations containing Moringa oleifera and Aloe vera extracts significantly improved wound healing compared to the control group. The formulation with a 50:50 ratio of Moringa oleifera and Aloe verademonstrated the highest efficacy, reducing wound size and promoting fibroblast proliferation and vascularization. This study confirms the potential of a topical combination of Moringa oleifera and Aloe vera extracts in accelerating the healing of second-degree burns.
