Abstract

East Kalimantan is one of the provinces that has natural resources, especially the abundant mining sector such as coal, oil, and gas. The growth of the coal mining sector makes the level of heavy equipment use also increase. The purpose of this service is to improve the knowledge and skills of the community in the field of heavy equipment for youth organizations, Loa Jananilir District, Samarinda City, East Kalimantan. The service method is carried out by socializing for youth organizations. The results of the service show that there is an increase in public interest, especially young people, in heavy equipment, especially to support East Kalimantan which will become the new State Capital (Ibu Kota Negara/IKN). The use of excavator type heavy equipment can increase work efficiency and be more optimal because the area that can be worked on is wide and in a short time.

Abstract

A wiper is a device used to clean rainwater and particles from glass that can block the vision of heavy equipment operators during rainy weather. To clean rainwater from the glass, the operator must activate the wiper switch. When the operator is focused on work often the operator forgets to turn on the windshield wipers or turns off the windshield wipers, it can disturb the operator's concentration especially on the machine when working. Automatic wipers are devices that detect rainwater with the help of a raindrop sensor FC 37 to activate the wiper motor without the need to activate the switch. With this automatic wiper the operator can comfortably work when the weather is rainy. The purpose of making a microcontroller arduino ino R3 based automatic wiper simulation tool is as a learning media for wiper electrical system applications on heavy equipment. The results obtained from simulation testing based on the standard operating procedures that have been made and successfully work well without problems.

Abstract

Transmission Off Highway Truck (OHT) 789C uses the Powershift transmission type. This type of transmission uses a hydraulically activated clutch. The main advantage of this powershift transmission is its very fast response when shifting gears without having to break the connection between the engine and the transmission. One component that plays a major role in this clutch is the plate and disc, which function as a medium for conducting rotation from the engine to the transmission, and this part also functions as the main frame of the clutch to withstand the workload. So that damage often occurs in these parts. This damage can occur due to several factors. An analysis is done to get the root cause and action to fix it. The purpose of the study was to identify the damage that occurred to the plate and disc and its causes. In this study, applying the 8-step method of applied failure analysis on a plate and disc transmission 789C which experienced normal wear and tear causing transmission slip. The results of the study using the 8-step applied failure analysis method showed that the root cause of the problem with the plate and disc transmission 789C was customer negligence in maintenance so that it accelerated wear and tear on the components, which caused the plate and disc to wear up normally so that contaminated oil caused the piston selector to be jammed. Reduced oil pressure results in a lack of lubrication and a transmission slip problem occurs.

Abstract

Cooling system has an important role in motor vehicles, because its function is to maintain the working temperature of the engine, so that the temperature does not exceed the threshold (over heating), due to the frequent causes of excessive heat due to the use of cooling water in the radiator. The research method used is an experimental method, where the aim is to determine the effect of coolant on engine temperature from the use of several types of coolant additives. The cooling water used is coolant 30/70 pre-mixed and coolant predilute 33%. This test is carried out at rounds of [600, 1500, 2000, 2500, 3000] RPM. The object of this research is the Toyota Avanza Type E 1300 CC M/T. From the results of research on engine temperature data with the use of coolant 30/70 Pre-mixed at various variations of engine speed obtained an average temperature of 94.13 OC. While the use of coolant predilute 33%, the average temperature in testing reaches 94.4 OC. Based on the description of the results of the test data that has been done, it was concluded that the use of coolant 30/70 pre-mixed and coolant predilute 33% has the same effect on the temperature of the Toyota Avanza Type-E 1300 CC M/T engine.

Abstract

UPK Bukittinggi is a state electricity company in charge of 3 hydropower plants in West Sumatra with a vision to become the leading electricity company in Southeast Asia. To realize this vision, the company must continue to monitor a good level of productivity on the quality of engine performance which must be maintained. For this reason, it is necessary to propose a preventive maintenance plan for each hydropower plant with actions based on the Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) method. The purpose of the study was to calculate the amount of time for repair (Mean Time To Repair) and the amount of time the damage occurred (Mean Time To Failure) as well as determine the maintenance time interval schedule for the equipment experiencing the highest downtime at UPK Bukittinggi. Where the RCM method is integrated with the Failure Mode Effects Analysis (FMEA) method which is used as an analysis of the failure mode that occurs by calculating the highest Risk Priority Number (RPN) value on the machine and then calculating the time interval for damage as the basis for determining the maintenance schedule. The result of the research is that with routine scheduling of machine maintenance will be obtained with time intervals obtained by time intervals and maintenance actions using the RCM method.

Abstract

Motor travel serves as a steering and braking system, driving the unit forward, backwards and to the side with the help of a hydraulic system. The hydraulic system plays a very important role in the operation of the machine. The fundamentals of hydraulic and advanced hydraulics, and applied failure analysis support the knowledge of engineering students. The method used is to carry out the disassembly and analysis of the travel motorbike with the aim of identifying the damage that occurred. Visual analysis of traction motors, head/valves, brake valves, brake pistons. These components can be reused after cleaning the components. There is also such a type of damage to traction motor components as wear and tear. This wear is found in retaining shoes, port plates, cylinders, pistons, camshafts, and shafts. . After visual analysis, the next step is measurement. The measured part is a spring. The results of the analysis proved that the measurement of this spring does not correspond to the information provided in the literature.

Abstract

Wheel loader is one of the heavy equipment units used to move materials. One of the parts of concern for the machine unit is the differential which functions to move the rotational power from the propeller shaft to the rear wheel axle. This study aims to find the cause of damage to the differential components of Caterpillar's 914G unit. The method used is library research which begins with taking data from the Service Information System (SIS) as standard data and various modules related to the object of research, field observation by disassembling, visual inspection of objects, and ending with measurements that will be compared with standard data. The results of this study showed that measurements on the backlash component between the bevel gear and pinion shaft were 0.31 mm with standard specifications of 0.18-0.36 mm (in spec), damage to the ring gear due to contact stress fatigue wear, scratches due to abrasives on the side gear, and there was spider gear damage due to contact stress fatigue wear.

Abstract

Limbah cair industri kelapa sawit yang tidak dikelola dengan baik dapat menyebabkan terjadinya pencemaran lingkungan, sehingga diperlukan usaha untuk mengolahnya agar memenuhi standar baku mutu limbah cair yang aman bagi lingkungan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh penambahan massa dan massa optimum adsorben dalam menurunkan kadar COD dan BOD pada limbah cair kelapa sawit. Pengaktifan adsorben fly ash menggunakan HCl 6 N dan AgNO3 0,1 N, kemudian hasilnya dikalsinasi pada suhu 250°C selama 2 jam. Penentuan massa optimum dilakukan dengan cara menambahkan adsorben yang sudah diaktivasi dan tanpa aktivasi dengan variasi massa 1,5 ; 2,5 : 3,5 : 4,5 dan 5,5 gram kedalam 250mL limbah cair kelapa sawit, kemudian diaduk selama 150 menit, filtrat yang dihasilkan kemudian dianalisa kadar COD. Hasil analisa menunjukan bahwa massa terbaik pada penurunan COD adalah 3,5 gram dengan penurunan maksimum COD dengan menggunakan adsorben tanpa aktivasi fly ash sebesar 83,86% dengan nilai COD 372,96 mg/L danpenurunan maksimum COD dengan menggunakan adsorben aktivasi fly ash sebesar 92,62% dengan nilai COD 170,49 mg/L. Sedangkan penurunan maksimum BOD dengan menggunakan adsorben tanpa aktivasi fly ash sebesar 22,70% dengan nilai BOD 39,5mg/L dan penurunan maksimum BOD dengan menggunakan adsorben aktivasi fly ash, sebesar 26,81% dengan nilai BOD 37,4 mg/L.

Abstract

Dalam pengoperasian alat berat banyak hal dan aspek yang harus diperhatikan, mulai dari ketrampilan dan skill operator, prosedur pengoperasian alat, aspek keselamatan kerja dan aspek perawatan dan troubleshooting. Keberhasilan Pelaksanaan program Kegiatan Pelatihan fundamental engine system dapat dilihat dari beberapa tolak ukur yakni respon positif dari peserta pelatihan yang diukur melalui observasi langsung dan pendekatan persuasif dengan mengadakan diskusi, tanya jawab dan presentasi terhadap peserta, meningkatnya keterampilan peserta setelah mendapat pelatihan fundamental engine system. Pelatihan fundamental engine system ini diikuti oleh 10 peserta yang ada disekitar kampus yakni warga kelurahan Harapan Baru Kecamatan Loa Janan Ilir, Samarinda. Pelatihan fundamental engine system ini selain diajarkan perawatan komponen alat berat dengan pemahaman mengenai fundamental engine system juga diajarkan tentang keselamatan dan kesehatan kerja ditempat pelatihan. Selama Pelaksanaan Program Kegiatan Pelatihan fundamental engine system mulai dari tahap persiapan sampai tahap pelaksanaannya, dapat kami sampaikan temuan-temuan sebagai berikut antusiasme peserta pelatihan fundamental engine system untuk masyarakat Kelurahan Harapan Baru Kecamatan Loa Janan Ilir Samarinda sangat baik, dengan diadakannya pelatihan ini dapat membantu masyarakat yang nantinya akan digunakan sebagai bekal untuk mencari kerja dan berkompetisi dengan yang lainnya.

Abstract

Teknologi otomotif khususnya pada alat berat sangat cepat, sehingga hal ini mendorong manusia untuk selalu belajar. Hal ini untuk menjamin kesiapan pemakaian untuk pengerjaan dan juga masih minimnya pengetahuan tentang kerusakan yang sering terjadi dan belum mampunya dalam memperbaiki dan juga merawat. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi kerusakan, mengetahui perawatan dan perbaikan yang tepat dan menganalisa kerusakan Front Final Drive Planetary Gear Backhoe Loader Case 580 SN. Pada penelitian ini menggunakan metode observasi kelapangan dengan melakukan pengamatan secara langsung dengan mencari penyebab terjadinya kerusakan dan cara mengatasi kerusakan terhadap komponen Front Final Drive Planetary Gear serta melakukan metode tanya jawab sehingga ditemukan suatu permasalahan yang terjadi pada Final Drive. Hasil penelitian mengindikasikan bahwa dengan Kerusakan Final Drive Backhoe Loader Case 580 SN disebabkan kurangnya pelumas Final Drive pada saat dijalankan, dikarenakan O-Ring Final Drive mengalami keausan sehingga pelumas merembes keluar. Untuk mencegah terjadinya kerusakan dini maka harus dilakukan pemeriksaan harian dan perawatan berkala pada Front Final Drive Planetary Gear yaitu memeriksa kondisi komponen Final Drive Planetary Gear dan mengganti minyak pelumas setiap 1000 jam kerja dan melakukan pemeriksaan harian pada unit yang dioperasikan khususnya pada Front Final Drive untuk mencegah terjadinya kerusakan yang tidak terduga.
