Abstract

The power produced by a hydrokinetic turbine depends on the interaction between the rotor and water. Therefore, the optimal rotor geometry must be designed and built to capture maximum water energy and convert it into usable energy. Hydropower is one of the potential renewable energy that can contribute to the need for electricity. Hydropower generator is pollution free so this generator can answer environmental problems and the availability of renewable energy sources. The aim to be achieved in this study is to produce a turbine hydropower with good performance if it operates on an irrigation channel and is applied as a power plant. This research was developed to get the right specifications for the use of hydrokinetic turbines in the irrigation canal area. There are several methods carried out in the design of hydrokenetic turbines, namely by designing blades based on the shape of water flow, repairing the transmission system, and selecting the right generator. In this study, we tested the sweet lemon irrigate applied and tested in the area of ​​Padang Sumbar Sweet Limes Pauh, the results obtained were that the turbine can produce power of about 12.6 watts.

Abstract

In this Final Project report, a little is explained about the parts of power steering and how to make the vehicle comfortable, especially when the vehicle turns. Stability and comfort in driving a vehicle is very important and desirable for all motorists, how it can be obtained. Power steering makes the driver feel light in controlling his vehicle especially when turning. So power steering is one of the things that is very important to get driving comfort. Therefore maintenance of the power steering is also important to be able to help realize stability and comfort in driving. Abstract

Vertical Mill is one of the main equipment in the Indarung IV factory PT. Semen Padang. This Vertical Mill is used to grind / crush the main ingredients of making cement such as Limestone, Silica stone, Clay, and Iron sand. Milling of this material is done with the help of a tool called a Roller Tire and grinding table. So that the Tire Tire and grinding table always work as expected, the Roller Tire and grinding table must be maintained and repaired continuously and planned. Major damage that is often encountered is the occurrence of wear and tear on the Tire Roller and the grinding roller. Countermeasures by adding meat to the Tire Roller and grinding table using welding. With the maintenance and repairs are well scheduled, then we can avoid the causes of a damage from the beginning.

Abstract

SD Bustanul Ulum Semen Padang is located on Jl. Komp. Kuranji Batu Busuk Hydropower Kel.Lambung bukit kec. Pauh. Training given to teachers and students of SD Bustanul Ulum (BU) Semen Padang to make a mini hydroponic installation so that the existing green house can be organized and can develop plant seeds. As well as fostering the spirit of elementary school students bu to care more about the environment early. And provide knowledge about vegetable cultivation techniques, organic nurseries with hydroponic systems. Training on making hydroponic installations in the school green house teaches school students can cultivate a variety of plants to green the school sd BU Semen Padang. This program has been started since SD BU Semen Padang obtained an independent adiwiyata tropy at the national level and SD BU strives to improve the quality as a school that cares & cultures the environment for the proposal of Asean Eco School candidates from 21 provinces throughout Indonesia. Abstract

The community service team from the Padang State Polytechnic majoring in Mechanical Engineering has implemented a community service program which is participated by members of the affluent farmer group, namely the local community, which is located in Batu Gadang, Kec. Lubuk Kilangan which owns agricultural land. This community service provides rice mower machine assistance to affluent farmer groups. Community service is expected to be able to help all members of a prosperous farmer group, who previously needed a lot of manpower for post-harvest, now no longer need a lot of agricultural labor and also with this community service assistance, prosperous farmer groups can save time and costs for post-harvest. The high hopes of the community service team for affluent farmer groups are to be able to make the most of this machine and support the success of affluent farmer groups to increase rice production and overcome the need for extravagant labor at post-harvest time. And it is highly hoped that the prosperous farmer groups will be able to use this rice mower machine, and can assemble agricultural tools with a modification of the carrying type lawn mower to be used as a rice cutting machine.

Abstract

Oil palm empty fruit bunches (OPEFB) are solid waste from the oil palm plantation industry with a fiber content of ± 70%, and can be used as a composite board reinforcement. From the results of previous studies found that the mechanical properties of composite boards of OPEFB fibers between the left, middle and right parts occur very large differences, this situation occurs because the length of the fiber used is not the same between 3-10 cm. The long fibers in addition to the adhesive mixing process are very difficult and long, also resulting in uneven strength of the boards on each side. The purpose of this study is to modify the design of the TKKS fiber chopping machine cutting unit using a reel type cutting cylinder, making the machine cutting unit, and testing the engine performance. From the results of engine design, the engine capacity is ± 85 kg / hour, the engine size is 110 cm x 36.5 cm x 49 cm, the motor power is 2.5 HP with a rotation of 1450 Rpm. The components of the chopper unit consist of the chopper holder measuring 8 cm x l5 cm x 13 cm, placed 3 pieces of planers which are 8 cm x 5 cm x 0.4 cm, the chopper shaft measuring 40 cm long and Ø 3 cm, the holder of the pin measuring Ø 16 cm with a thickness of 0.6 cm. From the results of engine performance testing, it is found that the capacity of the machine with 5 mm filter diameter is 35 kg / hour, diameter of 10 mm 48 kg / hour, diameter 15 mm 55 kg / hour and diameter of 20 mm is 65 kg / hour. The uniformity of the results in the filter hole 5 mm the average fiber length of 15-25 is 80%, the filter hole 10 mm fiber length an average of 30-40 mm by 82%, the filter hole 15 mm fiber length an average of 40-50 mm by 85%, and the filter hole 20 mm in fiber length an average of 50-60 mm by 80%.

Abstract

Kanagarian Salo Kec. Baso Kab. Agam memiliki beberapa peternakan puyuh yang dikelola secara mandiri. Berdasarkan survey yang dilakukan pada awal 2020 di peternakan puyuh kanagarian Salo, pakan puyuh diaduk secara manual menggunakan skop sehingga hasil adukan tidak merata ditiap bagian. Pengolahan pakan yang baik sangat berpengaruh pada produksi telur puyuh. Pakan yang baik memiliki komposisi pengadukan yang merata di setiap bagian ransum, sehingga puyuh mendapat gizi sesuai kebutuhannya. Berdasarkan permasalahan tersebut sangat perlu dibuatkan mesinpengaduk pakan unggas. Tujuan pengabdian masyarakat ini adalah menyediakan mesin pengaduk pakan ternak puyuh kapasitas 400 kg untuk peternak di Kanagarian Salo. Diharapkan proses pengadukan pakan menjadi lebih efektif dan efisien. Metoda yang digunakan untuk menyelesaikan permasalahan mitra adalah adalah rancang bangun alat pengaduk pakan yang aplikatif berdasarkan kebutuhan mitra dan sosialisasi cara pemakaian mesin pengaduk. Hasil kegiatan pengabdian ini adalah tersedianya mesin pengaduk pakan puyuh kapasitas 400 kg untuk peternakan puyuh di kanagarian salo dan pemahaman peternak dalam pengoperasian mesin. Kata kunci : pakan unggas, pakan puyuh, mesin pengaduk, tingkat campuranhomogen ABSTRACT Kanagarian Salo Kec. Baso Kab. Agam has several independently managed quail farms. Based on a survey conducted in early 2020 quail farm in Kanagarian Salo, the quail feed ingredient was stirred manually using a shovel that produce Non-homogeneous mix. Good feed processing is very influential on the production of quail eggs. A good feed has an even mixing composition in every part of the ration, so that the quail gets the nutrition their needs. Based on these problems, a poultry feed mixer machine is needed. The method used to solve the problems is the design of an poultry feed mixer machine based on the needs of partners and socialization of how to use the mixer machine. The result of this activity is the availability of a poultry feed mixer machine with 400 kg capacity for quail farms in Kanagarian Salo and the understanding of farmers in operating the machine. Abstract

The Test Bench is a tool that makes it easy to carry out the disassembly and assembly of electrical components in a portable way. The design of the Test Bench is the main support in making the tool so that it can be used for testing tools. There are several stages in the process of making the Test Bench including the selection of materials, tools, the process of cutting materials, the process of drilling materials, the process of welding, and the process of painting. The Test Bench for starting the motor makes it easier for practical work on disassembly, assembly and testing of starting motors to be more efficient, effective and timely based on the procedures that have been made.

Abstract

Air is the successor to the Caterpillar 777D Highway Truck Air System. Air is used to supply the braking system on the Caterpillar 777D Highway Truck which is then collaborated with a hydraulic system for the technical braking process. For this reason, the authors analyze the components of the 777D Caterpillar Highway Truck Air System and what damage often occurs and how to repair it. In this case the object examined is the water system component of the Caterpillar 777D Highway Truck. The method used in this research is field observation, literature study, conducting, inspection with several units that improve the schedule and scheduled repairs. According to the appropriate literature, component damage that occurs in air systems is damage to the system and wear and tear on components. The study was conducted by conducting a visual inspection and measurement, then an analysis of the assessment of the appropriate data literature was carried out. The results found damage to the maintenance component that is not really a component relay valve and air dryer on the air filling system.

Abstract

Circular cylinder has a strong  adverse pressure gradient. When a fluid flows around the circular cylinder, it will produce aerodynamics force. One of them is  the drag force which strong enough. Hence, control of flow need to reduce the drag force with placed a disturbance body on the upstream side. The purpose of this study is to compare and complement the experimental research of drag reduction that has been done before. The aerodynamics characteristics of the disturbance body and cylinder are modelled in two dimensions Unsteady-RANS by using fluent with turbulent flow. It is found that the mean drag and the lift fluctuation of the cylinder can be reduced by the upstream disturbance body with the s/D = 0.107 (here s and D are side length of the disturbance body and the diameter of cylinder, respectively). The position of the disturbance body is varied at (α) 20º, 30º, 40º, 50º and 60º with a gap distance (δ = 0.4mm). Reynolds number based on cylinder diameter ReD = 3.48x104. Fluid interaction between circular cylinder with two disturbance body can increase boundary layer transition from laminer to turbulent to produce small drag. It is found that the characteristics of the flow significantly depend on the position of disturbance body. The optimum condition for the drag force reduction is at the angle α = 30º  about  53 %.
