Abstract

ABSTRACT Background.Hemorrhagic stroke is a spontaneous bleeding in the brain that is usually life threatening. The most common risk factor of hemorrhagic stroke is hypertension. Hypertension can cause change in the structure of the artery wall which can cause the blood vessels near the brain to rupture easily. Purpose. To analyze the correlation between blood pressure and intracerebral haemorrhage volume in hemorrhagic stroke patients in Dr.Ramelan Navy Hospital neurologic ward. Method. This research is using a cross sectional study design. This study is done using primary data collection, using the head CT Scan result to measure the patient’s intracerebral hemorrhage volume and patient’s ER admission data for the blood pressure. Results. The study is performed to 26 haemorrhagic stroke patients who fits the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Correlation test shows no correlation between blood pressure and intracerebral haemorrhage volume in haemorrhagic stroke patients in Dr.Ramelan Navy Hospital neurologic ward, with significance (p) value of 0.888 > α (0.05). Conclusion. There is no correlation between blood pressure and intracerebral haemorrhage volume in haemorrhagic stroke patients in Dr.Ramelan Navy Hospital neurologic ward.

Abstract

Abstract Background: Virgin Coconut Oil (VCO) is a functional product that is highly favored and have been widely applied in the everyday lives of society. The increase of the frequencies and duration of VCO consumption is suspected that VCO could negatively impact the target organ. The kidney is a vital organ in the human body, it is responsible for clearing out the residual waste products of metabolism in the body. The evalution of the kidney‟s function can be done through the measurement of creatinine and blood urea nitrogen. The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of VCO administration on kidney function. Method: 24 male wistar rats that are divided into 4 groups, which are listed as follows, K(-) or a negative-controlled group, P(1) or the first group of rats that are given VCO with a dose of 2mL/200gr of the rats‟ total BW/day, P(2) or the second group of rats that are given VCO with a dose of 3mL/200gr of the rats‟ total BW/day, and P(3) or the third group of rats that are given VCO with a dose of 4mL/200gr of the rats‟ total BW/day for 28 day Results: Administrating VCO with a dose of 2mL/200gr and 3mL/200gr of the rats‟ total BW/day does not affect the blood‟s creatinine level while with a dose of 4mL/200gr of the rats‟ total BW/day decreases the blood‟s creatinine level. Administrating VCO with a dose of 2 mL/200gr, 3 mL/200gr, and 4 mL/200gr of the rats‟ total BW/day does not affect the level of blood urea nitrogen. Conclusion: Administration of VCO dose of 4 mL / 200 g BW rat / day significantly decreased blood creatinine levels in experimental animals, while other doses did not affect the creatinine levels or blood urea nitrogen levels

Abstract

ABSTRACT Background : Avicennia alba or known as mangrove api-api putih is a type of mangrove species which has many benefits and often to be used by the local Indonesians as traditional medicine. The alcaloid and flavonoid substances derived from Avicennia alba leaves could inhibit pain. This study aims to determine the analgesic effect of Avicennia alba leaves extract in male mice (Mus musculus L.) induced by acetic acid 0,7%. Method :25 mice were divided into 5 groups that were given different therapies. The therapy are 10 mL/kg bw of water, 150 mg/kg bw of acetosal, 250 mg/kg bw; 500mg/kg bw; 1000 mg/kg bw of Avicennia alba leaves extract. 0,7% acetic acid with dose of 10 mL/kg bw is given to each subject intraperitoneally 30 minutes after the therapy to induce pain. The pain is manifested as writhes in mice, the writhes then are counted repeatedly each 10 minutes for 30 minutes. Result:: mean of writhes in group treated with Avicennia alba leaves extract in 250 mg/kg bw and 500 mg/kg bw with each value 6,20 and 9,40 are less than mean of writhes in negative control group with value 31,40. %inhibition of Avicennia alba leaves extract with dose of 250 mg/kg bw and 500 mg/kg bw respectively are 80,25% and 70,06%. Conclusion : Avicennia alba leaves extract in 250 mg/kg bw and 500 mg/kg bw dosage showed analgesic effect in male mice (Mus musculus L.) induced with 0,7% acetic acid.
