Abstract

This study aims to determine the application of technology packages in paddy rice farming in Labulu-Bulu Village, Parigi Sub-district, Muna Regency. The informants in this study were all wet-rice farmers in Labulu-Bulu Village, Parigi Sub-district, Muna Regency.Research informants were obtained through a snowball sampling method, which is a sampling method where the sample is obtained through a rolling process from one respondent to another. The collection of data was carried out through various means, including observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation, with the assistance of an instrument in the form of an interview guide. The focal point of this research is the application of technology, encompassing seeding, tillage, planting, fertilization, irrigation, pest and disease control, utilization of agricultural tools and machinery, and harvesting. The research data underwent analysis using a descriptive method, encompassing three stages: data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion or verification. The findings indicated that the implementation of technology packages in paddy rice farming in Labulu-Bulu Village, Parigi Sub-district, Muna Regency occurred across multiple stages or cultivation processes. These stages or processes encompass land cultivation, seeding or breeding, planting, fertilization, irrigation, pest and disease control, and harvesting. The implementation of technology in paddy rice farming, particularly in the stages of land cultivation, planting, irrigation, pest and disease control, and harvesting, has been identified as a significant factor contributing to enhanced benefits and ease of operation for farmers.

Abstract

The research objectives were to determine the effectiveness of the use of the Anti-Rat Trawl method in controlling the population of rat pests that often threaten rice plants. The research location was deliberately selected in Sendang Mulya Sari Village, Tongauna District, Konawe Regency, with the strategic consideration that the area is a representative rice production center to analyze the impact of pest control innovations. The scope of the study covered all rice farmer groups in the area, with a total of 11 farmer groups spread out. The informant selection method was carried out purposively, namely by selecting 18 members of the farmer group who were considered to have direct knowledge and experience related to the use of Anti-Rat Trawl in controlling pest attacks. The results of the study showed that the Anti-Rat Trawl innovation proved to be very effective in reducing the population and attacks of rat pests on rice plants. The level of effectiveness achieved reached 86%, which indicated significant success in protecting plants from the risk of damage due to rat pest attacks. The success of this method has important implications for agricultural pest control strategies. Anti-Rat Trawl is not only able to reduce the rat population, but also has the potential to minimize economic losses that can be caused by pest attacks. Innovative approaches such as these demonstrate the importance of developing technology-based solutions and local adaptation in addressing agricultural challenges. This study confirms that innovation in pest control technology has a key role in increasing productivity and sustainability of agricultural businesses. By implementing the Anti-Rat Trawl method, farmers in Sendang Mulya Sari Village have proven their ability to adopt practical and effective solutions to protect rice plants from pest threats.

Abstract

The efficacy of agricultural extension programs in the Andoolo Subdistrict remains constrained by numerous challenges, including suboptimal program planning that does not adequately align with farmers' needs and regional potential. This suboptimal planning is attributable to limited competencies, the dynamics of extension tasks, and the phenomenon of extension workers changing professions. Consequently, the effectiveness of agricultural extension implementation at the field level is also diminished. The objective of this study is to ascertain the extent of the performance of agricultural extension workers in the development of programs in Andoolo Subdistrict, South Konawe Regency. The present study employs a qualitative approach, utilizing a descriptive research design. The selection of informants was deliberate. The objective of this study is to assess the performance level of agricultural extension workers in the development of agricultural extension programs. The analysis was conducted in a descriptive manner, employing a combination of qualitative and quantitative methodologies. The findings indicate that the performance of agricultural extension workers in developing agricultural extension programs in Andoolo Subdistrict, South Konawe Regency, is satisfactory, with an average NPK score of 88.08. Extension workers have been able to carry out most of the stages of program development systematically, particularly in the stages of program refinement and approval, which reached the very good category. Nonetheless, there is still room for improvement in the stages of determining activity plans and planning monitoring and evaluation methods. These methods should be more closely aligned with the objectives and problems faced by farmers.
