Abstract

Temef Dam is located in Oenino Village Oenino District and Konbaki Village Polen District, Timor Tengah Selatan Regency which has a capacity of 45.79 millions m3. This research aimed to determine the amount of potential evapotranspiration using Penman Modification Method, the amount of dependable discharge with three methods that are NRECA, F.J. Mock, and Tank Methods, from those three methods will be selected a method that have closest characteristic of Temef Watershed, and filling timein Temef Reservoir. The maximum half monthly potential evapotranspiration in Temef Watershed using Penman Modification Method is 142.72 mm and the minimum is 71,25 mm. The average of annual discharge using NRECA Method is 249.89 m3/sec, F.J. Mock Method is 258.66 m3/sec, and Tank Method is 92.15 m3/sec. Based from three methods that have been used, Tank Method is the closest method to the characteristics of Temef Watershed, which RMSE value from Tank Method is 2.99. Filling time of Temef Reservoir to reach the planned reservoir volume in normal water year condition is three months and fifteen days and in low water year condition is six months.

Abstract

The main principle of designing the multi-storey building is increasing the building strength on lateral force. The higher the building, then the more vulnerable the building in resisting the lateral force, such as earthquake force. In structure design in multi-storey building, there are 2 systems lateral force restraint that often used, that are frame that use shear wall and frame without shear wall. The purpose of this research is to analyze the effect of shear wall placement with respect to structure deflection as an effect of quake load also to find out the sensitivity of the adding the amount of shear wall on decreasing rate of structure deflection as an effect of quake load, that the calculation of quake load effect done by use the Equivalent Static Analysis Method. The result of the analysis obtained the structure deflection decreases with the increasing of the amount of shear wall and the average of decreasing rate of structure deflection for every addition of 1% shear wall is 1.97% also the layout of shear wall placement very react on structure deflection alteration.

Abstract

The construction of a small dam in the Kupang District aims to help supply water needs for the agricultural sector, livestock sector, and human needs during the dry season. This study aimed to evaluate the performance of 30 small dams built in Kupang Regency through three aspects, namely physical aspects, utilization aspects, and operation and maintenance aspects. The method used is the Survey Method, Descriptive Analysis and the Likert Scale Method. The results showed that the performance of the small dam's physical aspects in Kupang Regency was in bad condition, with a bad percentage value of 73.23%. The minor dam utilization aspects in Kupang Regency were in good condition with a good percentage value of 55.75%. The operation and maintenance aspects of the small dam in Kupang Regency were in bad condition, with a bad percentage value of 63.74%. Overall, the percentage of small dams studied in the Kupang Regency that experienced a decline in function was 69.63%, and the percentage of small reservoirs that were still functioning was 31.37%.

Abstract

Due to the low rainfall, it is relatively uneven in each sub-district in Timor Tengah Selatan (TTS) Regency. It causes some rivers to be drought-prone in the dry season. This study aims to determine the largest drought index and map the drought distribution in the South Central Timor (TTS) Regency. The drought index analysis uses the Standardized Precipitation Index (SPI) Method. The data used is monthly rainfall data for ten years (2009-2018) of ten rain stations. Then, mapping of drought distribution rainfall using ArcGIS Software. The results of the drought index analysis showed that in the 1-month deficit period, the largest drought index was -3.61, which occurred in March 2014 at the Oeekam Rain Station. In the 3-month deficit period, the largest drought index was -3.19, which occurred in March 2010 at the Nulle Rain Station and in November 2015 at the Kesetnana Rain Station. The findings of the drought distribution map study suggest that during the 1-month shortfall period, all sub-districts experienced drought in January, February, and April. Meanwhile, in the 3-month deficit period, drought occurs evenly for all sub-districts only in June.

Abstract

Abstract

Knowing soil characteristics is very important for an engineer to ensure the safety of buildings above the ground. Therefore, conducting a soil investigation in the laboratory and field testing The island of Timor, especially in the Polen sub-district, Timor Tengah Selatan district, has fine-grained soil deposits. In the sub-district area, a large dam is being built, namely the Temef Dam and the main road link connecting one city and four regencies on the island of Timor also. This study aims to determine the characteristics of the soil both physically and mechanically through laboratory testing. The results showed that the location in Puna Village was clay of low plasticity, while the Loli Village had high plasticity clay deposits. The higher of soil's plasticity index, the higher the potential for swelling of the soil. The increased swelling potential causes the low shear strength of the soil. Clay with low shear strength cannot support the construction load on it. Therefore, before the construction of the building on it, it is necessary to improve the soil. In addition to its weaknesses, on the other hand, impermeable clay is used in the dam core material, where the location of material extraction is still within reach so that the work becomes economical.
