Abstract: Cohesion is the relationship between the sentences in a discourse, both in strata certain grammatical and lexical strata. Sehubung with it, study here trying to describe the study of lexical cohesion in Riau Pos daily news. This research is a qualitative research. In this study, the authors use descriptive method. Descriptive method is a method performed by the following steps: collecting data, classify, analyze and make conclusions to get a picture of the object. The data source of this research is the daily headlines in Riau Pos listed starting from January 2 to January 31, 2015. Data collection techniques in this study is documentation techniques. Documentation techniques is to collect documents and data needed in the research problems studied intensively so as to support and add to the confidence and proof of an event. Writing collect data such as documents headline news in every issue of Riau Pos daily publication. The results of research there are five forms of lexical cohesion which will be described includes 18 synonyms, divided into four types, namely: inter-sentence synonym, inter-word, inter-phrase, and inter-morpheme, 6 antonyms, divided into four types, namely: antonym between words, between sentences, inter-phrase, and inter-morpheme, 5 underwriting meaning, 6 homonym, divided into four types, namely: homonymous between words, between sentences, inter-phrase, and inter-morpheme, and 5 hipernim , These results indicate the use of lexical cohesion in Riau Pos daily headlines.Keywords: Cohesion, lexical cohesion, Headlines, Riau Pos.

Abstract: This study entitled Imperative utterances in a Malam Minggu Miko comedy series. This study aimed to describe the form and meaning of the imperative in Malam Minggu Miko comedy series. The research is a qualitative research with descriptive methods. This research data is the form and meaning of speech imperatives contained in Malam Minggu Miko comedy series. Data obtained using the technique of listening and listening. The validity of the data obtained by a triangulation technique. Then, the data were analyzed by identifying and classifying based on the nature and meaning of the imperative in the speech. The results of the research I have found in this study is that there are six imperatives form contained in Malam Minggu Miko comedy series is the imperative form of regular, demand, licensing, solicitation, errands, and prohibition. Among the imperative form, the predominant form found is imperative messenger. In the study of meaning, the author uses seventeen kinds of meaning imperative. Abstract: This study titled is Endofora Reference in the Short Story of Riau Pos Daily. This study aimed to describe the reference endofora in Riau Pos daily short stories. The research is a qualitative research with descriptive methods. This research data is the entire sentence that uses a reference endofora, both based on the reference position and by type of object contained in Riau Pos daily short stories. Data obtained using the technique of reading. Then, the data were analyzed by identifying and classifying based on a reference shape endofora short story text. From the data obtained in the cliff Riau Pos daily, endofora reference forms are found among other personal references anaphora categories, demonstrative reference anaphora categories, comparative reference anaphora categories, personal references katafora categories, demonstrative reference katafora categories, and comparative references katafora categories. Types of personal pronouns used, among others, saya, aku, -ku, kami, kita, kamu, kau, -mu, ia, dia, beliau, -nya, and mereka. Abstract: This study investigated the ability to determine the composition of personal letters and official letters seventh grade students of SMPN 10 Tapung Tapung District of Kampar regency. This study aimed to obtain information that will be described regarding the ability to determine the composition of personal letters and official letters, and is there a significant difference between the ability to determine the composition of a personal letter and a composition of a formal letter. This study is a quantitative-descriptive. This research data is test data to determine the composition of personal letters and official letters seventh grade students of SMPN 10 Tapung Tapung District of Kampar regency. Instruments in this study is a chart of personal letters and official letters chart. The data collection was done by using the test. The population in this study were 147 students with the determination of a sample of 105 students. Data were analyzed with descriptive methods. In the form of exposure data and then normality test later if both data obtained by normal then paired sample t test. The validity of the data obtained through the method of data validation. Results of this study of the test results to determine the composition of personal letters and official letters seventh grade students of SMPN 10 Tapung Tapung District of Kampar regency. Judging from the two data obtained normality test is normal data. Then, out of paired samples t test was obtained 0.141 <1.660 t less than t table meaning there is no significant difference between the ability to determine the composition of personal letters and official letters because it is essentially the ability of determining the composition of the two letters the same, namely high category.Keyword: personal letters, official letters, normality test, paired sample t test.2

ABSTRACT: This study entitled The Ability to Understand Structure and Content of Short Story Text of XI Grade Students at Senior High School 1 Teluk Kuantan. This study aimed to describe the ability to understand the structure of the short story text at XI grade student of SMAN 1 Teluk Kuantan, describes the ability to understand the content of short story text XI grade student of SMAN 1 Teluk Kuantan, and describe is there a significant relationship between the ability to understand the structure and content of the short story text XI grade student of SMAN 1 Teluk Kuantan. The method used is descriptive method with quantitative approach. Data of this study is the result of taking the test (answers) to understand the structure and content of the text that the author given to the sample, such as 144 students of XI grade at SMAN 1 Teluk Kuantan. The research results obtained are: (1) ability to determine the structure of the short story text XI grade students at SMAN 1 Teluk Kuantan classified as moderate with a value of 81.65%, (2) ability to determine the structure of the text of the short story class XI student of SMAN 1 Teluk Kuantan MIPA classified as moderate with values 78.87%, (3) ability to determine the structure of the text of the short story class XI IPS SMAN 1 Teluk Kuantan is high with a value of 84.65%, (4) ability to determine the structure of the text of the short story class XI student of SMAN 1 Teluk Kuantan women classified as moderate with values 80.80%, (5) the ability to determine the structure of the text of the short story class XI student of SMAN 1 male Teluk Kuantan classified as moderate with a value of 83.03%, (6) the ability to determine the intrinsic elements of text short story class XI student of SMAN 1 Teluk Kuantan is high with a value of 88.74%, (7) ability to determine the intrinsic elements of text short story class XI student of SMAN 1 Teluk Kuantan MIPA is high with a value of 89.44%, (8) ability to determine the intrinsic elements of text short story class XI IPS SMAN 1 Teluk Kuantan is high with a value of 87.77%, (9) the ability to determine the intrinsic elements of short story text XI grade students of SMAN 1 Teluk Kuantan women is high with a value of 89.58%, (10) the ability to determine the intrinsic elements of text short story class XI student of men SMAN 1 Teluk Kuantan is high with a value of 87.39%, (11) the ability to understand the intrinsic elements of short story text XI grade students at SMAN 1 Teluk Kuantan superior to the student's ability to understand the structure of short storiy text.Keywords: the ability to understand the structure, the ability to understand the content, text stories, a class XI student.

ABSTRACT: This research entitled a study on the ability of writing pantun in the first year student’s of SMP YLPI Marpoyan Program Plus Pekanbaru. The problems in this research is ability writing pantun suitably condition of pantun. This aimed to describe student ability in writing pantun on aspect about verse, ability writing pantun on aspect about total word and a part word, ability writing pantun on sampiran's aspect, and ability writing pantun on content aspect. Method utilized in this research it descriptive method. Data collecting tech that is done for research it utilizes tech essay. This research population as much 46 person and research sample also as much 46 person with sample establishment total. To analysis research data utilized by average formula by use of estimation criterion guidance. Analysis is research data is done to 191 pantun couplets. This research result most that identification (1 ) ability writing pantun on aspect about verse gets medium category with average 76,78, (2 ) ability wriing pantun on aspect about total word and a part word gets medium category with average 72,96, (3 ) ability writing pantun on sampiran's aspect gets medium category with average 77,83, and (4 ) ability writing pantun on content aspect gets medium category with average 80,96.Keyword: ability, writing, pantun

ABSTRACT: This study aimed to describe the use of repetition and collocation in an editorial the newspaper Kompas. This research uses descriptive method. The study concluded that the use of repetition in Kompas newspaper editorial amounted to 128 data. The use of full reps edition March 11, 2015 until 11 April 2015 amounted to 40 (13 22 word phrase and clause 5). Repetition with other forms of editorial Kompas newspaper March 11, 2015 until 11 April 2015 amounted to 30 data. Reps with the replacement in an editorial the newspaper Kompas March 11, 2015 until 11 April 2015 amounted to 57 the data (48 words and phrases 9). Reps with hyponymy and hypernymy in Kompas newspaper editorial edition March 11, 2015 until 11 April 2015 amounted to 1 data. ABSTRACT: This study discusses the language politeness of Class XI Teachers at Senior High School 1 Lirik in teaching and learning process. This study also discusses the compliance andviolation of politeness principles according to of Leech's politeness principle. Politeness principle is divided into six maxims. The obedience and violation of the principle of politeness is taken from the teacher's speech during teaching and learning process. The compliance and violation of the principle of language courtesy found in the study consisted of the maxims of wisdom, the maxim of generosity, the maxim of praise, the maxim of humility, the maxim of agreement, and the maxim of conclusions. This research uses qualitative approach and descriptive method that aims to describe the teacher's speech in the process of learning in the classroom. The results of this study in the form of description of the teacher's speech based on compliance and violation of the principle of language politeness.Keywords: Speech Language, politeness maxims, teacherâ€™s utterances

Abstract: This research entitled Ability to Determine Preposition in Essay Student Description Class VII MTs AL-Istiqomah Tebingtinggi Regency of Meranti Island. This study aims to determine what level of ability to determine the preposition of students of class VII MTs AL-Istiqomah Tebingtingggi Meranti Islands District. The type of this research is descriptive research. The study had a population of 38 and a sample of 38 using a saturated sample. The research data was obtained from the test result by the students completing the sentence that was in overview in the description text with 22 prepositions that have been provided. Data collection techniques in this research is a stuffing test technique. Data analysis techniques in this study make code, correct student test results, analyze errors based on Chaer theory, explain the results, and draw conclusions based on assessment categories. The results of research in this study is the student has not been able to determine the preposition in the essay description accurately so categorized failed.Keywords: Ability, preposition, essay description

Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui simbol-simbol adat di Limo Koto di Tongah Rantau Nan Kurang Oso Duo Puluah Kabupaten Kuantan Singingi. Simbol-simbol adat dalam masyarakat Kuantan Singingi merupakan pijakan dan dasar-dasar dalam melaksanakan hukum adat dan tata nilai hang berlaku di tengah masyarakat. Namun saat ini simbol-simbol tersebut sudah banyak ditinggalkan, dan bahkan sudah dilupakan.
