Abstract

This study explores how Islamic picture media can enhance the Fiqh learning abilities of third-grade students at Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Syaichona Cholil in East Kutai during the 2024/2025 academic year. The research stems from the observation that many students struggle to grasp Fiqh material, largely because of its abstract and theoretical nature. To address this challenge, educators need learning media that align with the cognitive development of students at the elementary level. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, the study gathered data through classroom observations, interviews with Islamic Religious Education teachers and students, and documentation of teaching and learning activities. The researchers analyzed the data inductively through the stages of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that Islamic picture media significantly improved the delivery of Fiqh material. The visual content made abstract concepts more concrete, engaging, and easier for students to understand. Students demonstrated increased interest and enthusiasm in class, and they showed stronger recall and comprehension of key topics such as ablution (wudu), prayer (salat), and dry ablution (tayammum). Teachers also reported a more dynamic and interactive classroom environment. In conclusion, the study confirms that Islamic picture media is an effective tool for improving students’ understanding of Fiqh. It not only supports conceptual learning but also creates a more enjoyable and participatory educational experience for both students and teachers.

Abstract

This article discusses the Implementation of the Mahir Tahsin Method in Improving the Fluency of Qur’anic Reading among Grade X Students at SMA Bahrul Ulum Bontang in the 2024/2025 Academic Year. This study aims to describe: (1) the implementation of the Mahir Tahsin method in improving the fluency of Qur’anic reading among Grade X students at SMA Bahrul Ulum Bontang, and (2) the improvement in fluency of Qur’anic reading among those students. This research uses a qualitative approach with data collection techniques including observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The research subjects were Grade X students participating in the Tahsin program. The findings show that the implementation of the Mahir Tahsin method was carried out through several steps: (1) using talaqqi and musyafahah methods with direct practice, (2) providing individual guidance tailored to each student's characteristics, (3) utilizing relevant learning media, and (4) encouraging students to regularly read the Qur’an correctly through daily routines. Additionally, to assess the improvement in students’ fluency, teachers conducted periodic evaluations—weekly, monthly, and annually. Although some students showed slow progress, overall, the students demonstrated significant improvement in their Qur’anic reading fluency. The implementation of the Mahir Tahsin method proved to have a positive impact on students' mastery of tajwid and fluency in Qur’anic reading. The consistency of the program implementation, special attention to students experiencing difficulties, and follow-up on evaluation results were key factors in the success of this method in fostering fluent Qur’anic reading aligned with tajwid rules.

Abstract

This article discusses the efforts of Islamic Religious Education Teachers in forming student learning discipline. Learning discipline is one of the important factors that determine students’ academic success. Islamic Religious Education teachers have efforts not only in delivering religious material, but also in forming students’ character and discipline from an early age. One effort that can be applied is through giving rewards. This study aims to (1) determine the efforts of Islamic Religious Education teachers in forming student learning discipline through giving rewards (2) and how the application of these rewards can form student learning discipline. The research used is qualitative with a descriptive approach. Data collection techniques are carried out through observation, interviews, self-assessment and documentation. The subjects of the study were Islamic Religious Education teachers and class 1B students. Data analysis used is Data Reduction, Data Presentation, and Conclusion Drawing. The results of the study show that Islamic Religious Education teachers play an active role in forming student discipline through various strategies, such as role models, direction, positive reinforcement, and the application of rewards given in the form of verbal praise, star stickers, and stationery. Rewards are given fairly, consistently, and educationally, so as to foster student motivation to attend on time, complete assignments, and behave orderly during learning. In addition, the implementation of rewards also creates a positive, active, and enjoyable learning atmosphere. The conclusion of the research results is that the efforts of Islamic Religious Education teachers supported by the implementation of rewards are effectively able to form and strengthen students’ learning discipline from an early age.
