Abstract

The research aims to reveal: (1) the suitability of the implementation of science authentic assessment in Kulonprogo Regency, and (2) the forms of science authentic assessment applied. The study was used the CIPP Stufflebeam evaluation model. The quantitative data were analyzed with T-score, while the qualitative data were analyzed by using Miles & Hubermen. The results of this research are as follows. (1) The implementation of science authentic assessment is wholly fairly effective be seen from T-score analysis 52.44 from the score extent 20-80. (2) The forms of science authentic assessment are practice, portfolio, teacher transcript journal, and daily test, whereas project activity, self assessment, and peer assessment are not done for the heat matter and its movement with T-score 45.14 wholly fairly effective from the score extent 20-80.

Abstract

In Burundi, the academic performance in English for post-basic school leavers is wanting. Many researchers attribute poor academic achievement to the quality of teaching but fail to investigate the role the classroom context plays in learners’ academic achievement. This paper is a report of part of a study undertaken in 2023 on evaluating the instructional influences of the post-basic school English curriculum for learners’ achievement in Burundi.  The paper specifically reports on the impact of classroom context on learners’ achievement in Burundi's post-basic school English curriculum.  The study used a convergent mixed methods design and was guided by Communicative Language Teaching and Social Learning theories. For data collection, learners’ questionnaires, teachers’ interviews, and classroom observations were used. The research participants were sixteen teachers of English and three hundred and thirty post-basic school learners in the second and third years of the languages section in the Bujumbura Municipality. The research participants were selected through stratified and simple random sampling techniques. Data was analysed using descriptive and thematic analyses. The study revealed that teachers provided a welcoming learning atmosphere in their respective classrooms and promoted peer assistance. It was also established that teachers motivated learners to speak English differently, enhancing the learning process. It was revealed that teachers inspired learners in matters of using the English language (mean = 4.29, SD =.883). Moreover, the results showed that the classroom surroundings were generally perceived as noisy (mean = 2.95, SD = 1.327), and most of the classes were overcrowded (mean = 2.81, SD = 1.360). The study established that the classroom learning context greatly influenced learners' academic achievement (mean = 3.405, SD =.5030). The study recommended that the government should improve the classroom context for learners’ optimal academic performance in English.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the trend of elementary/MI science learning in the post-COVID- 19 pandemic era. The research used a survey design. Data collection methods included observation, interviews, and documentation. All instruments were tested for content validity and construct validity. Data triangulation was done by comparing and checking data obtained from information from parties who played a role in the research. After that, data analysis was carried out. Data analysis techniques used qualitative descriptive and quantitative descriptive analysis techniques. The study concluded that the post-COVID-19 SD/MI science learning trends lead to the following indicators including (1) the dominant learning method is lecture, (2) blackboards and markers are the dominant learning media, (3) student worksheets (LKS) are learning resources that are highly used by teachers, (4) assessment instruments used files/paper/written (5) oral tests are an assessment technique that is highly used by teachers, (6) cognitive assessment is the teachers' favorite in evaluations, (7) the realm of cognitive assessment in the majority is still oriented towards LOTS (Low Order Thinking Skills), namely understanding and remembering, and (8) aspects of discipline and responsibility are the main affective assessments that most teachers do. These findings imply that there is a need for more diverse and higher- order thinking skills (HOTS)-oriented teaching and assessment methods to enhance the overall quality of science education.

Abstract

Purpose − The purpose of this study is to examine the impact of principal leadership, work competence, and work motivation on the performance of elementary school teachers in the Kotagede sub-district. Method − The research uses a descriptive correlational approach with a quantitative method and involves a sample of 54 teachers. Data is collected through questionnaires, and analysis includes descriptive analysis as well as prerequisite tests such as normality, linearity, and multicollinearity. Hypothesis testing is conducted using multiple regression analysis. Findings − The results indicate a positive and significant influence of principal leadership, teacher competence, and teacher motivation on the performance of elementary school teachers in the Kotagede Subdistrict Yogyakarta, with an F value of 4.117 and a significance value of 0.000, which is less than 0.05. Therefore, in order to enhance the performance of public elementary school teachers in the Kotagede sub-district, attention to factors such as principal leadership, work competence, and teacher motivation is essential.

Abstract

The science learning process will be more meaningful if it includes facts, concepts, scientific ways of thinking, and solving problems. Meaningful learning will make it easier for students to understand science concepts. Material on animal life cycle and environmental conservation is one of the materials studied at the elementary school level. In general, students find it difficult to learn the material because the material is abstract. I-Spring learning media can help contextualize abstract material and increase learning effectiveness. This research aims to develop I-Spring-based learning media products on animal life cycle materials and environmental preservation for elementary school students. This research is a developmental research using the ADDIE development model. The research procedure consists of Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. The subjects of this study were 20 grade 4 students of SDN Tanjungrejo Malang City. The results of media validation showed a score of 91.74%, material validation was 96.18%, and learning validation was 94.04% while the attractiveness of I-Spring learning media products obtained a score of 90.55%. Thus, learning media is very feasible to use to support the effectiveness of the science learning process.

Abstract

The study aims at uncovering the factors that influence the early productivity of lecturers in writing scientific articles. The main problem under review is how the early writing experience shapes the continuity of academic productivity. In conducting the study, the qualitative approach of Grounded Theory was used with the data gathered from in-depth interviews with 18 lecturers throughout Indonesia. The research participants were purposively selected and were interviewed in stages by means of theoretical sampling. Then, the data were analyzed by using ATLAS.ti, and the data validity was tested by using method and theory triangulation. The results of the study show that publication productivity does not take place naturally but is shaped through social intervention, personal strategy, technology mastery, academic literacy, reading habit, and target stipulation. These results highlight the need to foster a supportive academic ecosystem to sustain lecturers’ writing productivity over time.
