Abstract

At the beginning of 2020, the world was shaken by the spread of new viruses, the new type of coronavirus (SARS-Cov-2), and the disease was called the Corona Virus Disease-2019 (COVID-19). As of 20 May 2020, In Indonesia were reported 19,189 cases with 1,242 deaths (CFR 6.47%) including nurses (55 health workers are death). There was a shocking lack of preparedness at hospitals in handling this, which puts nurses at particular risk. Nurses claimed to have difficulty getting PPE (Personal Protective Equipment). In addition, the cases of nurses who were stigmatized in their environment due to exposure to the COVID-19 were very widespread, even in the funeral process they were still rejected. Many things can be done to increase the ability of Indonesian nurses in their devotion when handling COVID-19. It can be from the nurses themselves, professional organization support, government support, and community support. The appreciation can also help them struggle to fight against COVID-19. In the future, when this pandemic is over, we need to appreciate what nurses have done for the world. Keywords: Nurses, against, covid-19

Abstract

The temporary closure of educational institutions in an effort to contain the spread of COVID-19 has affected millions of Indonesian students. Starting from March 16, 2020, face-to-face learning activities in schools were officially suspended by the Government and replaced with School from Home. SMP/MTs/equivalent were affected with 13,086,424 students studying at home. The government facilitates learning programs from home (virtual face-to-face), but this sudden activity causes students, parents and teachers to not fully implement it so that it has an impact on the independence of students. This study aims to determine the description of the independence of students during School from Home. The design of this research is quantitative with analytical descriptive approach, the sample is 284 people (accidental sampling). The instrument used is an independence questionnaire adapted from Siregar (2018). It was found that most of the respondents (54.5%) had low independence. This is greatly influenced by the condition of parents, teachers, and supporting facilities for learning at home which need a lot of adjustments, so it is hoped that the school will be able to increase the learning independence of students.

Abstract

Entering old age, a person experiences a process of changing body functions both physically and psychologically which can cause the elderly to have difficulty in achieving their basic needs. The Caring behavior is a form of support that caregivers can provide to the elderly in an effort to protect, improve, maintain or devote a sense of humanity by helping someone achieve a better aspect. This study aimed to determine the caring behavior of caregivers in fulfilling basic needs for the elderly at Kasih Sayang Ibu Tresna Werdha Social Homes Batusangkar West Sumatera Province in 2022. This study was conducted on March untill July in 2022. The text describes a qualitative research with a phenomenological approach. The research population consists of all elderly individuals who directly receive caring behavior from caregivers, using interview guidelines. Purposive sampling was employed based on inclusion and exclusion criteria. In the qualitative study, two themes were identified: the optimal ability of the elderly to fulfill basic needs and the ineffectiveness of communication between caregivers and the elderly in meeting their basic needs. The study concludes that the majority of the elderly evaluate the caregiving behavior of caregivers as good. Elderly individuals with the ability to perform activities independently find it easier to meet their basic needs with minimal caregiver assistance. The research suggests that caregivers should continue to enhance caregiving processes for the elderly to achieve optimal basic needs fulfillment through effective communication between caregivers and the elderly.
