Abstract

Writing is a difficult language skill since the students should pay attention to the writing’s aspects and need to express their own ideas. The tenth-grade students of SMAN 1 Kintamani found some difficulties in writing in which they were hard in generating their ideas, how to begin their text, and how to construct a well-structured text. The objective of the present classroom action research was to figure out whether or not writing skill of tenth-grade students of SMAN 1 Kintamani in academic year 2020/2021 can be improved through ESA combined with picture. The undertaking of this research was based on the preliminary study. The pre-test was carried out, and it showed the subjects’ writing skill was low. Therefore, the present study was conducted by implementing ESA combined with picture in two cycles. The result of post-test in each cycle showed that there were significant improvements on the subjects’ writing skill after the application of ESA combined with picture. Furthermore, the questionnaire proved that the subjects’ responses towards the application of ESA combined with picture were positive during the teaching and learning process. In conclusion, the study showed that writing skill of the tenth-grade students of SMAN 1 Kintamani in academic year 2020/2021 can be improved through ESA combined with picture.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan penerapan pembelajaran translation dengan berbantuan Computer Assisted Translation Tools (CAT Tools) bagi mahasiswa semester 6 FKIP Unmas Denpasar. Metode yang diterapkan dalam penelitian ini yaitu kualitatif fenomenologi, dimana untuk pengumpulan data, peneliti melakukan pengamatan langsung pada kelas-kelas penerjemahan di semester 6. Wawancara dilakukan kepada mahasiswa guna mengetahui motivasi mereka dalam pembelajaran translation dengan CAT Tools. Berdasarkan hasil analisis data, diketahui bahwa pembelajaran translation dengan CAT Tools membuat mahasiswa lebih percaya diri dengan terjemahan yang mereka hasilkan. Mahasiswa juga tidak terbebani dengan pencarian daftar padanan kosakata yang belum mereka ketahui sebelumnya karena Cat Tools memberikan referensi penerjemahan

Abstract

This research aims at describing students translation ability in translating Indonesia folklores into English through classroom action research. This research was conducted on the sixth semester students in Facultylation quality of Teacher Training, Universitas Mahasaraswati Denpasar. The data was analyzed by using descriptive qualitative. Based on the result of the analysis, it showed that students’s translation quality was improved. It could be seen from the naturalness and the consistency use of English terms. Besides, students’ translation products greatly improved, with the average progress score rising to 12.55 and they also showed positive response to the use of CAT Tools.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui korelasi antara literasi digital dan kemampuan penerjemahan mahasiswa yang dilakukan terhadap mahasiswa semester 7 Program Studi Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris FKIP Unmas Denpasar. Metode yang diterapkan dalam penelitian ini yaitu Ex-Post Facto dengan Desain Korelasi. Pengumulan data dilakukan dengan penyebaran tes berupa pengetahuan literasi dan tes penerjemahan naskah argumentasi. Analisis Shapiro-Wilk memiliki tingkat signifikansi lebih besar dari 0,05. Penguasaan literasi digital mempunyai nilai signifikan sebesar 0,731. Sementara, nilai signifikansi kemampuan penerjemahan adalah 0,215. Artinya pada dasarnya kemampuan penerjemahan, penguasaan literasi digital, dan data variabel sudah mempunyai tingkat normalitas tertentu. Pada uji homogenitas nilai signifikansi sebesar 0,164 maka dapat disimpulkan berdistribusi homogen. Nilai signifikansi korelasi product-moment Pearson adalah 0,000. bahwa data telah membuktikan adanya korelasi antara kedua variabel. Tingkat signifikansi seluruh kelompok data yang dianalisis menggunakan T-Test sampel independen menunjukkan 0,02. Kesimpulannya, data telah membuktikan bahwa penguasaan literasi digital berkorelasi secara signifikan dengan kemampuan penerjemahan mahasiswa.
