Abstract

Kata kunci : Adaptasi arsitektur, adaptasi hunian, etnik campuran.ABSTRACTThis study examines how architectural adaptation that occurs in settlements in mixed ethnic settlements. This research is interesting to study because the influence of ethnic mixing is the basis for the formation of Jaton and Mopugad settlements. Jaton is a mixed Minahasa ethnic settlement as a local ethnic group with Javanese ethnic as a migrant ethnic group while Mopugad is a mixed ethnic settlement of Bolaang Mongondow as a local ethnic group with ethnic Balinese as immigrant ethnic. Both of these settlements become religious custom settlements because of the thick religious tradition values in this settlement. The study of architectural adaptation can explore how the architectural elements in Jaton and Mopugad are formed and how they are influenced by the changes that occur due to modernization. According to Ibarra, adaptation is an effort from humans to increase the compatibility between the environment and himself. This research is classified as qualitative research by taking a descriptive and rationalistic approach. In general, dwelling in the Jaton settlement adapts the occupancy of local Minahasa ethnicities while occupancy in the Mopugad settlements adapts ethnic settlements of Balinese migrants. The high social attachment of the community resulted in a very thick local adaptation process in the Jaton settlement while the low social attachment of the community resulted in the Mopugad community preferring to adapt to their original Bali residence. Keywords: architectural adaptation, residential adaptation, mixed ethnicity.

Abstract

Kata kunci: komersial, perumahan, perubahan fungsi, tipomorfologi ABSTRACTAn interesting phenomenon that has occurred in Indonesia to date is the existence of settlements adjacent to the city center, such as urban villages adjacent to the campus. Student activities melt into villages looking for boarding houses encourage residents / homeowners / capital owners to change the function of the building into a boarding house. Characteristics of student activities in a closed village with its environment require changes in the appearance of buildings that are limited by high fences that limit social interaction with their environment. Therefore, it is necessary to examine the "Re / production of Space for Social Interaction Based on Trade Activities in Urban Villages Around the Campus". Increased student needs such as finding a place of laundry, food stalls, and as a matter of encouraging homeowners to change the function of the ground floor and front yard of the house into a trading function, and influence the way of social interaction between students / non-students through trading activities. The results of the study found a new social interaction space (based on trade activities) in the city kampong around the campus. Village criteria as the object of research are; The village has a density of> 400 people / ha, direct achievements from village to campus, dominated by the homogeneity of trade activities, the village has 2 or more achievements to the village. Research methods use qualitative research methods; descriptive survey research, and case studies. Keywords: commercial, housing, function change, typomorphology

Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to examine the role of public buildings as city landmarks in strengthening Balikpapan’s identity as a supporting city for the new capital of Indonesia (IKN) in East Kalimantan. In this context, the Balikpapan UMKM Gallery, strategically located in front of Sultan Aji Muhammad Sulaiman Airport, is selected as a case study of iconic architectural design expected to represent the city’s identity. The research employs a descriptive-qualitative approach, utilizing data collection techniques such as field observations, literature review, interviews, and questionnaires distributed to the general public and professionals. The assessment is based on five landmark criteria: visual dominance, memorability of design, integration with the surrounding environment, symbolism, and durability over time. The results indicate that the UMKM Gallery fulfills most of the criteria for iconic architecture, particularly in terms of visual and symbolic aspects. However, shortcomings remain in its environmental integration and material durability. This study emphasizes the significant role of architecture in shaping urban identity and the urgent need for contextual and sustainable design planning to support regional transformation toward the new capital.

Abstract

Malino is an area located in Tinggimoncong District which is a supporting area for South Sulawesi tourism which is located at an altitude of 1000 meters above sea level with natural beauty and cool air as a valuable asset to attract local and foreign tourists with the opening of tourist attractions including tea plantation tourist areas that have existed since the Dutch colonial era and then began to be managed with the addition of other facilities in 2014, namely Malino Highland. Malino Highland has experienced a decline in the number of tourists since 2020 which has had an impact until now. With its potential, Malino Highland is expected to be able to attract local and foreign tourists again, by conducting research using case study research methods for other tourist destinations in the Malino area supported by primary data obtained through observation, interviews, questionnaires, documentation and literature studies and the results show the need for revitalization to increase tourist attraction both in terms of area and buildings aimed at its main building, namely Green Peko'e Café by considering Sustainable Architectural Aspects and recommendations for transportation and access within the area. The use of sustainable materials is a consideration for use, namely Bamboo as the main material because it is widely found along Malino and can be harvested in just 3-5 years. By carrying out this Revitalization, it is hoped that Malino Highland can be an example of how to improve Tourism that pays attention to sustainable development in order to be an inspiration for tourism development in other areas.
