Methroxylon sago, a plant that is widely used in daily life, for example by the indigenous people of Luwu. The research about the importance of these plants for the indigenous people of Luwu has never been carried out. The aimed of study to document local knowledge in the form of the importance of using sago by the Luwu indigenous people in their daily lives. The sampling method used in this research is exploration and observation. Determination of respondents or informants of this research using purpose sampling. Collecting data using Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA) through interviews. The results showed that the indigenous people of Luwu used sago fronds as materials for making toys, rafts, household utensils, house walls, traditional rituals and glue. Sago leaves are used as building materials, sago starch is used as food, sago stems are used as fuel and house floors. So it can be concluded that sago plants have an important meaning and economic value in daily life by the Luwu indigenous people.

Abstract

Abstract

The aim of the research is to analyze the economic potential and feasibility of the Vaname Shrimp cultivation business in that location. The method used is qualitative and quantitative. Qualitative is to see an overview of shrimp farming in the village, while quantitative analysis is to calculate the economic potential and business feasibility of Vaname Shrimp cultivation. This research was conducted in August-October 2022 in Seuwwa Village, Pakue District, North Kolaka Regency, Southeast Sulawesi Province. The location selection was done deliberately, data collection through observation and questionnaire assistance. Data analysis techniques to calculate economic potential through acceptance and income analysis, while data analysis techniques to determine business feasibility are using operating profit (OP), benefit cost ratio (BCR), payback period (PP), profit rate (PR), breakeven formulas. points (BEP), return on investment (ROI). The results showed that the Vaname Shrimp cultivation business in the research location obtained a profit or income of Rp. 17,073,000, OP value obtained 17,193,000, BCR 5.09, PP 0.24, PR 409.29%, production BEP 78.54 Kg, BEP value Rp. 7,854, and ROI 236.76%. Based on this, the Vaname Shrimp farming business in Seuwwa Village has economic potential and is feasible to continue.

Abstract

Weathering sago rootstock is a natural process natural occurs in parts of the sago stem that are no longer physiologically active. Various microorganisms, including fungi, bacteria, nematodes, and other soil organisms, eat organic material in this weathering process. The importance of weathering sago stems in the ecosystem cycle, especially in returning nutrients to the soil. This research aims to isolate fungi found in weathering sago rootstocks and identify fungi found in the weathering of sago rootstocks. This research was carried out in June - November 2024 in Pengkajoang Village, West Malangke District, North Luwu Regency. This research was carried out by taking samples from the weathering of sago rootstock at a depth of 15 cm. Samples were taken from five points, with 100 grams collected from each point. The sampling procedure was consistent across all points. The samples were then isolated using a serial dilution method, where 1 gram of the sample was dissolved in 9 ml of sterile water and shaken using centrifugation for 30 minutes until homogenized. Subsequently, 1 ml of the suspension was taken and placed into a test tube containing 9 ml of sterile aquades. The serial dilution was carried out until a 104 dilution was achieved. Samples from dilutions 101, 102, and 103, 0.5 ml each, were then cultured on PDA media using the spread plate method and incubated for 3 to 7 days at 22-25°C. Fungal isolates were identified using a determination key from Illustrated Genera of Imperfect Fungi (Barnett & Hunter, 1998). The study identified four fungal genera: Trichoderma, Penicillium, Gliocladium, and Rhizopus.
