Abstract

This research aimed at finding out students’ literal reading comprehension by using literary work as a Media. The researcher employed a pre-experimental design, in which pre-test and post-test comparison was used to find out whether the used literary work Media enhance the students’ reading skill, the population of the research was all students of the eleventh grade students of SMA Negeri 1 Gowa which consisted of three classes. The sample was class XI Bahasa which consisted of 28 students’ by using cluster sampling technique. The instruments of this research was reading test. To analyze the score of the students’ achievement in pre-test and post-test the researcher used t-test analyzes. The result of the data showed that there was a significant difference between pre-test and post-test. The value of t-test in terms of main idea was 12.1 and fsupporting detail was 12.5. There figure was greater than the t-table (1.729) at the level of significant (p) = 0.05 degree of freedom (df) = 18. Therefore, it can be said that the null hypothesis (H0) was rejected and the alternative hypothesis (H1) was accepted. It means that there was a significant difference between the students’ reading skill before and after using literary work as a media or it can be stated that the use of literari work as a media was effective in improving students’ reading skill at eleventh grade students of SMA Negeri 1 Gowa.

Abstract

This research aimed to aimed to find out students’ ability to identify main clause and sub clause on reported speech By fifth semester At Muhammadiyah University of Makassar. This study used a descriptive quantitative research approach. The sample size was 30 students in total. Purposive sampling was utilized by the researcher. The data gathering instrument was written test.Based on the findings, the researcher found tha students’ ability to identify main clause and sub clause. Total score of the main clause test was 2.212, and the total numbers of the students were 30 while mean score of the students’ ability to identify main clause was 73.73 (good). Total score of the sub clause was 2.212, and total numbers of the students were 30 while the mean score of the students’ ability to identify sub clause was 73.73 (good) means some students were still difficult to determine them, and some students were having good comprehension about them. However this score need to be improved because this category is still low for college’s students.From the findings above, it can be concluded that students’ ability in identifying main clause and sub clause have good comprehension. However, the researcher concluded this score need to be improved.

Abstract

This research aims to find out The Effectiveness of Clustering Technique in Improving Students’ Writing Skill In Narrative Text. This research was conducted at SMA Negeri 21 Makassar. The design of this research is Pre-Experimental Design. The population of this study was the first-grade students in academic years 2020/2021 in SMAN 21 Makassar, which was selected by using cluster random sampling technique, while the sample of this study was 30 students. The instrument of this study was a test that used pre-test and post-test.The mean score of the pre-test in content 71,1 was lower than post-test 80,6. From the t-test, the study found that the value of t-test in generic structure pre-test 20,62 was fair than t-table 1.538, and the value of t-test in generic structure post-test 38,71 was greater than t-table 1.538. There was a difference between the students’ writing before and after applying the clustering technique in the class. It shows that the Null Hypothesis (H0) was rejected and the alternative hypothesis (H1) was accepted. The result of the data shows that writing in terms of the generic structure of narrative text through the clustering technique was a fairly effective method to improving students' writing skills in narrative text.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the fear experienced or felt by students in oral English presentations and strategies used to overcome fear in oral English presentation. This type of research is qualitative using descriptive method. the sample in this study were students majoring in English education, semester 4 as many as 15 students. The power obtained by using a questionnaire and which is open-ended and then analyzed descriptively. The results of the research obtained are Student Fear of Oral English Presentations in Higher Education, students experience and feel types of fear which include fear of communication, fear of negative evaluation and fear of test. The strategy used in overcoming fear in oral English presentations are the first strategy that focuses on the problem called problem focused coping, for example exercise, making important notes, and seeking support and the second strategy that focuses on emotions is called emotion focused coping, for example self-control, staying away and positive thinking.

Abstract

Kurangnya keaktifan siswa pada pembelajaran Bahasa Indonesia mengakibatkan tidak kurang efektifnya pembelajaran. Selama proses pembelajaran berlangsung, siswa cenderung bersifat pasif, jarang bertanya dan mengemukakan pendapat sehingga siswa tidak dapat menerima pelajaran dengan baik. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah meningkatkan keaktifan pembelajaran bahasa Indonesia kelas X MIPA 1 UPT SMA Negeri 9 Pangkep melalui model pembelajaran bahasa Indonesia discovery learning. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode penelitian tindakan kelas dan dilakukan dengan dua siklus dan jumlah jumlah siswa sebanyak 27 orang.

Abstract

Media pembelajaran dalam kelas sangat berpengaruh bagi siswa dalam keberhasilan penguasaan materi pelajaran. Maka dari itu, sangat diharapkan kepada guru untuk menggunakan media yang menarik dalam pembelajaran, khususnya peningkatan penguasaan kosakata. Karena ini menjadi salah satu masalah yang seharusnya diatasi dengan baik. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menemukan apakah Quizizz mampu meningkatkan penguasaan kosakata Bahasa Inggris siswa atau tidak. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan dalam studi ini adalah Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK). Subjek dari penelitian ini adalah kelas X IPS 1 SMAN 9 Pangkep, tahun ajaran 2022 / 2023 yang berjumlah 13 siswa. Penelitian ini terdiri dari dua siklus yang masing - masing terdiri dari perencanaan, pelaksanaan, observasi dan refleksi. Sedangkan teknis analisis data menggunakan teknik analisis deskriptif kuantitatif dan kualitatif. Instrumen yang digunakan ada dua yaitu lembar observasi dan tes. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa ada peningkatan dari pra siklus ke siklus I dan dari siklus I ke siklus II. Hal ini bisa dilihat dari nilai rata - rata tes diagnostik adalah 52,6, siklus I adalah 68,4, dan siklus II adalah 77,6. Selain itu, perhatian dan motivasi siswa terbantu dengan menggunakan Quizizz karena kuis yang diberikan melalui aplikasi Quizizz berbasis game. Namun, keterbatasan fasilitas dan Wi-Fi di sekolah menjadi penghambat dalam penggunaannya.
