Abstract

Diabetes mellitus is a collection of symptoms in a person caused by an increase in blood glucose levels due to decreased insulin secretion. To overcome the instability of blood glucose levels can be through two ways, namely pharmacological and non-pharmacological therapies. One of the non-pharmacological techniques is relaxation that can stabilize blood glucose levels, the type of relaxation therapy that has high effectiveness in reducing blood sugar levels is progressive muscle relaxation therapy. This research design is a type of descriptive observational research in the form of a case report. The research time was from May 15 to June 3, 2023. The population of this study were all male patients with DM who were admitted to the Interne room in Padang Hospital. The sample amounted to 2 people taken by purposive sampling technique. Data collection techniques using interview methods, physical examination and observation of DM patients with blood sugar checks for the application of progressive muscle relaxation therapy to stabilize blood glucose levels. The evaluation results of the intervention given to patients showed the effect of progressive muscle relaxation therapy in stabilizing the blood glucose levels of Diabetes Mellitus patients in the Male Interne room of in Hospital.  The suggestion of this study is that progressive muscle relaxation techniques can be considered to be an alternative non-pharmacological intervention that can be done by nurses to reduce blood glucose levels of patients with Type 2 DM.

Abstract

Stroke patients often experience weakness on one side of the body or both with varying muscle strength values. Stroke patients, apart from experiencing weakness in part or both extremities, will also experience emotional instability. The aim of this activity is to determine the ability of families in the community to care for family members after stroke by screening blood sugar and cholesterol, passive muscle training (ROM) and diet education at the Alai Padang Community Health Center. This activity is carried out through community gathering methods, identifying risk factors, counseling and providing training to the community. The results of the activity showed that people at the Nanggalo Padang Community Health Center had the highest risk factors for stroke, namely 55% (n: systole > 120 and diastole > 80 mmHg). Those who wanted to check themselves to check their peripheral blood were 13 people. Those with high cholesterol were 76.9%, while those with high blood sugar values were 7.6%, with the highest age of the community being 70 years and the youngest being 33 years. The conclusion of this activity is increased public understanding of how to reduce risk factors for stroke.

Abstract

Abstract

An inguinal hernia is a common hernia that presents as a bulge in the groin or scrotum. Inguinal hernia is a condition of protrusion or weakness of an organ structure. Inguinal hernia is the most common type of hernia, About 25 out of 100 men and 2 out of 100 women suffer from at least one inguinal hernia at some point in their lives. The purpose of this final paper is to apply deep breath relaxation therapy and finger grasping in nursing care to reduce pain intensity in patients for indications of lateral inguinal hernia in the male surgical room of the RSUP. Dr M. Djamil Padang. The research method uses a case report approach. This research was conducted in the male surgical room of the hospital. Dr M. Djamil Padang. The population of all patients in the male surgical room of Dr. M. Djamil Padang Hospital in April-May 2024 as many as 7 people. Sample with purposive sampling technique as many as 2 people. Data collection techniques with interview methods, observation, physical examination and documentation studies. Analysis using pico by comparing the results of nursing care with journals that have been found. The results of the application of finger grip relaxation show that there is a decrease in pain intensity before being given finger grip relaxation, namely a scale of 6 in the first patient and 5 in the second patient, after finger grip relaxation therapy, namely a scale of 2 in the first patient and 2 in the second patient.

Abstract

Teacher competence is the primary determinant of the successful implementation of Deep Learning in Indonesia as a national policy to enhance educational quality in pursuit of Indonesia Emas 2045. Therefore, improving teacher competence through effective, efficient, and sustainable technology-assisted training must become a top government priority. Based on this fundamental urgency, this study was conducted to enhance the competence of Deep Learning facilitators through blended-based training in hinterland regions of Riau Islands Province, Indonesia. In line with this objective, the research employed an Action Research design consisting of two cycles through the stages of planning, action, observation, and reflection. The study involved 3,140 teachers for the preliminary research, 25 participants for the pilot study, and 37 trainees from hinterland areas in Riau Islands Province, Indonesia. The findings indicate that blended-based training can improve Deep Learning facilitator competence, including competence in designing lesson plans, peer teaching, and understanding Deep Learning concepts contextualized to hinterland regions. This study provides a theoretical contribution that blended-based training is relevant for improving teacher competence in Indonesia’s hinterland areas. The results offer new directions for future research by optimizing blended-based training to enhance teachers’ competence in implementing Deep Learning adaptively according to the hinterland context.

Abstract

Background: Global and national data indicate an increasing trend in diabetes mellitus (DM) cases, including in Padang City, where the Belimbing Community Health Center recorded the highest number of type II DM patients in 2023. Several previous studies have reported a low quality of life among patients, prompting this study to explore similar trends and serve as a basis for future improvements. This study aims to examine the relationship between self-care and family support and the quality of life of patients with type II diabetes in the working area of the Belimbing Community Health Center. Methods: This quantitative, cross-sectional study was conducted from December to June 2025. The population included 468 type II DM patients treated at the health center between August and October. A total of 88 respondents were selected through cluster random sampling. Data were collected using the SDSCA, HDFSS, and WHOQOL-BREF questionnaires, and analyzed using univariate and bivariate analysis with the Chi-Square test. Results: The findings showed that 47.7% of patients had poor self-care, 15.9% received insufficient family support, and 50.0% had a poor quality of life. A significant relationship was found between self-care (p = 0.00) and family support (p = 0.001) and the quality of life of patients. Conclusion: Community health centers are encouraged to organize productive community-based activities and provide education and informational media to families in order to support patient care and enhance self-care management.
