Abstract

Abstract. Overseas students often face various challenges, including psychosocial stress, differences in social support received, and other interpersonal and intrapersonal problems that arise as a consequence of the adaptation process to a new social and cultural environment. Overseas students who experience difficulties in building and maintaining meaningful social relationships in a new environment, can trigger feelings of loneliness that have the potential to affect their subjective well-being. This study aims to determine the effect of loneliness on subjective well-being in overseas students at the Bandung Islamic University (Universitas Islam Bandung). Using a quantitative approach with a causality design, the study involved 362 participants (132 males, 230 females). The measuring instrument used for the loneliness variable is the Loneliness Scale Version 3 (R-UCLA Version 3) which has been modified by Anggraeni (2018), while for the subjective well-being variable using the Satisfaction with Life Scale (SWLS) and the Positive and Negative Experience Scale (SPANE) which has been adapted by Akhtar (2019). Multiple linear regression analysis was employed to evaluate the influence of personality, social desirability, and depression aspects of loneliness on subjective well-being. Results indicate that loneliness negatively affects subjective well-being, accounting for 48.1% of the variance. The depression aspect showed the strongest influence (30.2%), followed by personality (10.9%), and social desirability (7%). Abstrak. Mahasiswa rantau sering kali menghadapi berbagai tantangan, termasuk stres psikososial, perbedaan social support yang diterima, serta masalah interpersonal dan intrapersonal lainnya yang muncul sebagai konsekuensi dari proses adaptasi terhadap lingkungan sosial dan budaya yang baru. Mahasiswa rantau yang mengalami kesulitan dalam membangun dan mempertahankan hubungan sosial yang bermakna di lingkungan baru, dapat memicu perasaan kesepian yang berpotensi mempengaruhi subjective well-being mereka. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh loneliness terhadap subjective well-being pada mahasiswa rantau di Universitas Islam Bandung. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah kuantitatif dengan desain penelitian kausalitas. Penelitian ini melibatkan 362 mahasiswa rantau di Universitas Islam Bandung, dengan keterangan 132 responden laki-laki dan 230 responden perempuan. Alat ukur yang digunakan untuk variabel loneliness adalah Loneliness Scale Version 3 (R-UCLA Version 3) yang telah dimodifikasi oleh Anggraeni (2018), sedangkan untuk variabel subjective well-being menggunakan alat ukur Satisfaction with Life Scale (SWLS) dan Scale Positive and Negative Experience (SPANE) yang telah diadaptasi oleh Akhtar (2019). Teknik analisis data menggunakan regresi liniear berganda untuk mengukur pengaruh personality, social desirability, dan depression pada variabel loneliness terhadap subjective well-being. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa loneliness berpengaruh negatif terhadap subjective well-being dengan kontribusi sebesar 48.1%, yaitu dengan keterangan aspek depression memiliki pengaruh terbesar (30.2%), diikuti personality (10.9%), dan social desirability (7%).

Abstract

Abstract. This study discusses the relationship between job insecurity and work engagement among employees of Bank Y. Organizations need dynamic and dedicated employees, namely employees who have engagement in carrying out their work [2]. Job insecurity can reduce work engagement and performance, thus highlighting the need for strategies to reduce job insecurity and increase work engagement. Work engagement is very important for employee performance and well-being. The Job demands-Resources (JD-R) theory is relevant to work engagement because both aspects can determine the level of work engagement. Although job insecurity can affect work engagement, this relationship is complex and requires further research. The research method used in this study is quantitative with a correlation research design. The measuring instrument for job insecurity uses the Job insecurity Scale, and for work engagement uses the UWES-9 measuring instrument. And the results of the Pearson Correlation Output between the Job insecurity and Work engagement variables are known to have a correlation value of 0.033, this value is too close to 0 which can be interpreted that there is a very weak linear relationship between the two variables. Abstrak. Penelitian ini membahas mengenai hubungan antara job insecurity dan work engagement di kalangan karyawan bank Y. Organisasi membutuhkan karyawan yang dinamis dan berdedikasi, yaitu karyawan yang memiliki engagement dalam menjalankan pekerjaannya [2]. Job insecurity dapat mengurangi work engagement dan kinerja, sehingga menyoroti perlunya strategi untuk mengurangi job insecurity dan meningkatkan work engagement. Work engagement sangat penting untuk kinerja dan kesejahteraan karyawan. Teori Job demands-Resources (JD-R) relevan dengan work engagement karena kedua aspek tersebut bisa menentukan tinggi rendahnya work engagement. Meskipun job insecurity dapat mempengaruhi work engagement, hubungan ini kompleks dan membutuhkan penelitian lebih lanjut. Metode penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah kuantitatif dengan desain penelitian korelasi. Alat ukur untuk job insecurity menggunakan Job insecurity Scale, dan untuk work engagement menggunakan alat ukur UWES-9. Dan didapatkan hasil Output Korelasi Pearson antara variabel Job insecurity dan Work engagement diketahui memiliki nilai korelasi 0.033, nilai ini terlalu dekat dengan 0 yang dapat diartikan bahwa terdapat hubungan linear yang sangat lemah diantara kedua variabel.

Abstract

Self-injury occurs commonly in young people, especially during the development phase of emerging adults. It is seen as a manifestation of existential problems, such as obstacles in fulfilling or pursuing meaning in life which is the most basic human motivation. This study aims to determine the effect of logotherapy as an intervention to increase purpose in life in emerging adults who engage in self-injury. The research utilized a single case experiment A-B design involving two subjects, measuring their level of meaning in life with the Meaning in Life Questionnaire (MLQ). The analysis technique of visual analysis, baseline-corrected tau, and Reliable Change Index (RCI) yielded outcomes indicating logotherapy as an effective intervention option for increasing meaning in life in emerging adults with self-injury.

Abstract

Abstract. On the platform X parasocial relationship phenomenon, many claim to be stuck with their idols. Turner explained that individuals who are in the low self-esteem category are more likely to form a parasocial relationship. This study aims to determine how much self-esteem influences parasocial relationships among K-Pop fans in Bandung. The study used a quantitative research design with a causality method. The research sample consisted of 306 K-Pop fan respondents with a purposive sampling technique. The measuring instrument used was the Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale which was constructed by Maroqi (2018) and the Multiple Parasocial Relationship Scale which the researcher adapted. The data analysis process was carried out using multiple regression techniques to measure the influence of self-esteem and its two aspects, self-competence and self-worthiness, on parasocial relationships. The results showed that self-esteem had an influence of 0.8% on parasocial relationships among K-Pop fans in Bandung. The self-competence aspect does not affect parasocial relationships and the self-worthiness aspect has an effect of 0.16%. This finding shows that the effect of self-esteem on parasocial relationships is in the low category. This indicates that other factors may have a greater influence on the development of this parasocial relationship. Abstrak. Pada platform X fenomena hubungan parasocial, banyak yang mengaku terjebak dengan idolanya. Turner menjelaskan bahwa individu yang berada pada kategori self-esteem rendah memiliki kemungkinan yang lebih tinggi untuk menciptakan suatu hubungan parasosial. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui seberapa besar pengaruh self-esteem terhadap parasocial relationship terhadap penggemar K-Pop di Kota Bandung. Penelitian menggunakan desain penelitian kuantitatif dengan metode kausalitas. Sampel penelitian terdiri dari 306 responden penggemar K-Pop dengan teknik purposive sampling. Alat ukur yang digunakan adalah Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale yang sudah dikonstruksikan oleh Maroqi (2018) dan Multiple Parasocial Relationship Scale yang diadaptasi oleh peneliti. Proses analisis data menggunakan teknik regresi berganda untuk mengukur pengaruh self-esteem dan kedua aspeknya yaitu self-competence dan self-worthiness terhadap parasocial relationship. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa self-esteem memiliki pengaruh sebesar 0,8% terhadap parasocial relationship terhadap penggemar K-Pop di Kota Bandung. Aspek self-competence tidak memberikan pengaruh pada parasocial relationship dan aspek self-worthiness memberikan pengaruh sebesar 0,16%. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa kontribusi self-esteem terhadap parasocial relationship rendah. Hal ini menunjukkan terdapat faktor lain yang mungkin memiliki pengaruh lebih besar terhadap perkembangan hubungan parasosial ini.

Abstract

This study aimed to explore the topics adolescents discuss with their parents, how frequently these conversations occur, and how important adolescents perceive them to be. The participants were 331 middle school students aged 12–16 years (53.8% girls, 46.2% boys), selected through convenience sampling. Data were gathered using a questionnaire covering four domains of sexual communication: developmental and social issues, sexual safety, sexual experiences, and sexual activities. We applied Friedman test on data from a related sample, the Wilcoxon signed-rank test, the Mann-Whitney U test for comparing independent groups, and Spearman rank correlation. Results revealed that communication patterns differ between mothers and fathers. Mothers were more likely to discuss developmental and social issues, while fathers more often addressed sexual experiences. The findings highlight the need to enhance parent-adolescent communication about sexual matters.

Abstract

Abstract. The phenomenon of students juggling dual roles as students and workers is on the rise, but these roles often lead to significant academic and professional stress. This study aims to examine the influence of Adversity Quotient on optimism among working students at Bandung Islamic University. A quantitative approach with a causal design was used. Data was collected through an online survey using a questionnaire distributed to 125 active students working part-time with specific criteria. The instruments used were the Adversity Response Profile scale and a modified optimism scale, which were then analyzed using simple linear regression through the SPSS application. The results showed that both Adversity Quotient and optimism among students were in the low category. However, there was a significant positive influence of Adversity Quotient on optimism, contributing 40.8%. This means that the higher an individual's ability to cope with difficulties, the higher their level of optimism. This study contributes to the development of positive psychology research and serves as a reference for educational institutions and the workplace in understanding the potential and challenges of working students. Fenomena mahasiswa yang menjalani peran ganda sebagai pelajar dan pekerja semakin meningkat, namun peran ini kerap menimbulkan tekanan akademik dan profesional yang signifikan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji pengaruh Adversity Quotient terhadap optimisme pada mahasiswa bekerja di Universitas Islam Bandung. Pendekatan yang digunakan adalah kuantitatif dengan desain kausalitas. Data dikumpulkan melalui survei daring menggunakan kuesioner yang dibagikan kepada 125 mahasiswa aktif yang bekerja paruh waktu dengan kriteria tertentu. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah skala Adversity Response Profile dan skala optimisme yang dimodifikasi, kemudian dianalisis menggunakan regresi linear sederhana melalui aplikasi SPSS. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa baik Adversity Quotient maupun optimisme pada mahasiswa berada dalam kategori rendah. Namun, terdapat pengaruh positif yang signifikan dari Adversity Quotient terhadap optimisme dengan kontribusi sebesar 40,8%. Artinya, semakin tinggi kemampuan individu dalam menghadapi kesulitan, maka semakin tinggi pula tingkat optimisme yang dimiliki. Penelitian ini memberikan kontribusi dalam pengembangan kajian psikologi positif, serta menjadi acuan bagi institusi pendidikan dan dunia kerja dalam memahami potensi dan tantangan mahasiswa bekerja. Penulis mengucapkan terima kasih kepada pihak-pihak yang telah membantu kelancaran penelitian ini.

Abstract

Abstract. Human resources are the most critical asset in an organization, serving as the driving force behind the company’s success. Employee work engagement has become a central focus in modern human resource management due to its significant role in achieving organizational goals. This study aims to examine the influence of job stress on employee work engagement at X. The method used is quantitative, employing a questionnaire approach involving 90 contract and permanent employees of PT X. The instruments used were the Job Stress Scale and the Utrecht Work Engagement Scale (UWES). The results showed that job stress had a negative and significant effect on work engagement. The regression coefficient was -0.835 (p < 0.05), indicating that higher job stress levels are associated with lower levels of work engagement. The coefficient of determination (R-squared) value of 0.431 indicates that job stress explains 43.1% of the variation in work engagement. These findings imply that effective management of job stress is essential to enhance employee work engagement at PT X. Abstrak. Sumber daya manusia merupakan aset terpenting dalam organisasi yang berperan sebagai motor penggerak utama keberhasilan perusahaan. Work engagement karyawan menjadi fokus utama dalam manajemen sumber daya manusia modern mengingat perannya yang signifikan dalam mencapai target perusahaan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat pengaruh stres kerja terhadap work engagement karyawan di PT X. Metode yang digunakan adalah kuantitatif dengan pendekatan kuesioner yang melibatkan 90 karyawan kontrak maupun tetap PT X. Alat ukur yang digunakan adalah Job Stress Scale dan UWES (Utrecth Work Engagement Scale) Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa stres kerja memiliki pengaruh negatif dan signifikan terhadap work engagement. Koefisien regresi sebesar -0,835 (p < 0,05) mengindikasikan bahwa semakin tinggi tingkat stres kerja, semakin rendah tingkat work engagement karyawan. Nilai koefisien determinasi (R-squared) sebesar 0,431 menunjukkan bahwa stres kerja mampu menjelaskan 43,1% variasi work engagement. Temuan ini mengimplikasikan bahwa pengelolaan stres kerja yang efektif penting untuk meningkatkan work engagement karyawan di PT X.
