Abstract

AbstrakPenelitian mengenai pembentukan karbon aktif berbahan dasar arang tempurung kelapa sebagai adsorben telah dilakukan. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mengetahui pengaruh konsentrasi larutan NaOH dalam aktivasi kimia fisika untuk adsorpsi logam Cu2+. Arang tempurung kelapa hasil pirolisis digerus hingga mencapai ukuran granul milimeter kemudian dibersihkan dalam larutan alkohol 96% dan dipanaskan diatas hot plate selama 60 menit pada suhu ruang. Proses aktivasi kimia arang tempurung kelapa dilakukan dengan merendam arang tempurung kelapa dalam larutan NaOH pada variasi konsentrasi 1%, 2%, 4%, 7% selama 24 jam. Proses aktivasi fisika dilakukan dengan memanaskan arang hasil aktivasi kimia pada suhu 4000C selama 1 jam didalam tungku horizontal dan dialirkan gas Argon. Pada penelitian ini hasil uji AAS menunjukkan bahwa karbon aktif arang tempurung kelapa dapat diaplikasikan untuk mengadsorpsi logam Cu2+. Semakin tinggi konsentrasi larutan NaOH maka persentase logam Cu2+ teradsorpsi akan semakin menurun. Persentase logam Cu2+ teradsorpsi maksimum dihasilkan oleh karbon aktif dengan larutan NaOH 1% sebesar 80.87%. AbstractThe research on the formation of the activated carbon made from coconut shell charcoal as an adsorbent has been done. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the concentration of NaOH solution in the activation of chemistry physical for metal adsorption of Cu2+. Coconut shell charcoal pyrolysis results were crushed to size granules in millimeter then cleaned in a solution of 96% alcohol and heated on a hot plate for 60 minutes at room temperature. Chemical activation process of coconut shell charcoal is done by soaking the coconut shell charcoal in various concentration of NaOH solution at 1%, 2%, 4%, 7% for 24 hours. Physical activation process was done by heating the samples using horizontal furnace at temperature 4000C for 1 hours and Argon gas was flowed. In this study, the AAS test results indicate that activated carbon coconut shell charcoal can be applied to adsorb metals Cu2+. The higher the concentration of NaOH solution then the percentage of Cu2+ adsorbed metal will be decrease. The percentage of the maximum adsorbed Cu2+ metal was produced by activated carbon with  NaOH 1% solution at 80.87%. Keywords: activated carbon, coconut shell charcoal, chemical – physics activation, NaOH, Cu2+

Abstract

Menumbuhkan karakter peduli lingkungan merupakan sikap dan tindakan yang selalu berupaya mencegah kerusakan pada lingkungan alam sekitarnya, dan mengembangkan upaya-upaya untuk memperbaiki kerusakan alam yang sudah terjadi. Kerusakan pada lingkungan sebagian besar diakibatkan oleh manusia, ketergantungan manusia terhadap lingkungan menjadi faktor utama pada kerusakan lingkungan, kota wamena yang menjadi ibukota dari Kabupaten Jayawijaya sudah mulai tercemar dengan sampah plastik yang setiap harinya bertambah. Penangulangan langsung belum terlihat jelas hasilnya dari peran pemerintah hal ini dinas lingkungan hidup kabupaten. Melihat potensi bahaya yang akan ditimbulkan ini sangat besar maka perlu adanya kegiatan langsung agar memberikan edukasi kepada masyarkat yang tinggal di dalam ruang perkotaan. Dari kegiatan ini diharpakan mampu memperbaiki sehingga tidak terjadi penurunan kualitas hidup. Manusia harus menjaga kualitas dan kuantitas lingkungan hidupnya secara arif. Melalui upaya pelestarian lingkungan salah satunya melalui kegiatan langsung agar dilihat oleh masyarakat untuk memberiakan kesadaran kepada masyarakat. Makna peduli tidak hanya diaplikasikan kepada sesama manusia saja akan tetapi peduli dapat diaplikasikan terhadap semua makhluk hidup dan lingkungan sekitarnya, oleh sebab itu setiap individu seharunsya memiliki karakter peduli, baik itu karakter peduli sosial maupun karakter peduli lingkungan. Dalam kerangka Character Building, karakter peduli lingkungan menjadi nilai yang penting untuk ditumbuh kembangkan pada kehidupan sehari-hari.

Abstract

Plastic waste management remains a critical environmental challenge in Indonesia, particularly in remote areas like Pisugi District, Jayawijaya Regency, Mountains Papua. High plastic consumption combined with limited waste infrastructure leads to significant environmental and public health risks. This community service project applies the Smart Waste Planning concept to empower local residents by transforming plastic waste into paving blocks, a sustainable and economically valuable product. Conducted through a participatory and educational approach, the program involved field observation, socialization, hands-on technical training, mentoring, evaluation, and sustainability planning. The two-day training successfully enhanced public awareness, technical skills, and cooperation among 16 participants from district leadership and community representatives. Challenges such as limited equipment and material variation were addressed through collaborative problem-solving. The paving blocks produced demonstrate promising structural quality for light infrastructure use, opening new economic opportunities and reinforcing local environmental stewardship. Support and involvement from district government strengthened program legitimacy and sustainability prospects. This initiative integrates environmental preservation, social empowerment, and economic development, aligning with sustainable development and circular economy principles. The Smart Waste Planning model serves not only as a technical solution but as a comprehensive community empowerment strategy toward a stronger and self-reliant local society.

Abstract

The activity of sharing onion gardening and collective planting in Walelagama Village, Jayawijaya Regency, is an initiative aimed at enhancing food security and empowering the local community. This event aims to enhance residents' knowledge and skills in cultivating onions effectively and sustainably, while also encouraging active participation in collective planting efforts. Through training, demonstrations of best practices, and community collaboration, it is hoped that a broader culture of planting will be established and agricultural productivity in the area will increase. This activity also supports efforts to conserve natural resources and improve the welfare of the local community. The results of this activity show increased interest and capability among residents in onion cultivation, as well as the creation of community solidarity in maintaining sustainable agriculture in Walelagama Village.
