Abstract

ABSTRACT: FEAR OF MISSING OUT AND PSYCHOLOGICAL WELL BEING IN EMERGING ADULTHOOD INDIVIDUAL The group that dominates today's use of social media and the internet is emerging adulthood. Meanwhile, several studies show that excessive use of social media can cause negative effects, one of which is on the level of psychological well-being as a result of fear of missing out. The goal of this study is to see if there is a link between fear of missing out and psychological well-being in emerging adults. The Fear of Missing Out measure and the Javanese Psychological Well-being Scale were used in this quantitative study, which included 226 participants aged 18 to 25 years old (39 males; 187 females). To see the relationship between the two variables researchers used parametric analysis using Pearson Product Moment. The findings of this study show a negative correlation value (r (224) = -.324; p< .001), implying that as the fear of missing out grows, so does psychological well-being.The implication of this study is to show the need to pay attention to the psychological well-being of individuals by managing the use of social media so that they do not have a negative impact on the level of individual psychological well-being..Keywords: Emerging Adulthood, Fear of Missing Out, Psychological  Well-Being Individu usia emerging adulthood merupakan kalangan yang mendominasi penggunaan media sosial dan internet saat ini. Abstract

Psychological well-being has an important role in achieving academic success. However, the psychological well-being of college students tends to decrease as the years of study increase. This study aims to determine whether there is a correlation between academic hardiness and student psychological well-being. Quantitative research with a cross-sectional design was conducted on 148 students at Airlangga University. The Revised Academic Hardiness Scale and Javanese Psychological Well-Being Scale were used as data collection tools. The results of the hypothesis test show that there is a positive correlation with moderate strength between academic hardiness and psychological well-being in college students. The results of this study are useful for the development of positive psychology studies in the context of college students.

Abstract

This study aims to investigate the relationship between binge-watching and psychological well-being among university students, a population particularly susceptible to fluctuations in mental health due to academic, personal, and social pressures. A quantitative, survey-based design was employed. The sample consisted of 161 university students aged 18-25 years who had engaged in binge-watching, defined as viewing a minimum of three consecutive episodes of a television series within a single sitting. Psychological well-being was measured using the Short-form Ryff’s Psychological Well-being Scale Ryff & Keyes (1995)while binge-watching tendencies were assessed through the Binge-watching Addiction Questionnaire (Forte et al., 2021). Data analysis was conducted via Pearson’s product-moment correlation using IBM SPSS Statistics version 26 for MacOS. Results demonstrated a statistically significant, albeit modest, positive correlation between binge-watching frequency and psychological well-being, suggesting that increased engagement in binge-watching may coincide with heightened perceptions of psychological flourishing among students, whereas lower levels of engagement may be linked to diminished psychological well-being.

Abstract

This research aims to optimise the mental health of parents and early childhood in Gili Iyang, Sumenep, through psychoeducation for the ‘Child Friendly Home’ movement. The programme uses psychoeducation and joyful learning methods to increase parents' motivation and positive attitudes in creating a nurturing environment that supports children's development. The participants were 50 parents, children, and early childhood educators from Bancamara and Banraas villages. Participants were selected by purposive sampling, based on the purpose of the activity, which is to optimise the mental health of parents and early childhood. The results of the pretest and posttest evaluations showed a significant increase in knowledge with a note that there was a need for re-evaluation in the preparation of the questions. However, through observation, discussion, and question and answer, positive attitudinal changes related to child-friendly parenting were observed. These findings indicate the importance of community-based interventions to improve family mental health in rural areas. This study recommends that further development is needed so that similar programmes can be implemented in other communities.
