Abstract

Abstract

This research aimed at examining ways by which Madurese women could achieve satisfaction in early marriage. This research used a qualitative research method with an interpretative phenomenological analysis (IPA). To understand the meaning of one?s experience by looking for themes from available data, IPA rested on three pillars, namely phenomenology, hermeneutics, and idiography. In this research, the researchers used semi-structured interviews to collect data and purposive homogeneous sampling. The participants involved were three married women under 18 years old who were living in Madura. The results of the research show that the three women are satisfied in their marriage. The satisfaction of their marriage can be seen from taking care of each other when sick, giving her enough money, and always happy with her husband, not far apart. Furthermore, Madurese women dissatisfaction in her marriage can be seen from anger if she is not given money and is not helped in doing household.

Abstract

This study specifically aims to analyze the contribution of need satisfaction for autonomy, need satisfaction for competence, and need satisfaction for relatedness that is associated with teacher teaching motivation. The participants of this study were 84 early childhood education programs teachers in Kediri Regency and Tulungagung Regency (100% women, Mage = 31.71 years; SD = 8.86). Data were collected using the Basic Need Satisfaction in General Scale and the Autonomous Motivation for Teaching Questionnaire presented in Indonesian language. Data analysis in this study used descriptive statistical techniques and Pearson correlation technique. The results shows that there is no significant correlation between need satisfaction for autonomy with teaching motivation (r= .043; p = .585), there is significant correlation between need satisfaction for relatedness with teaching motivation (r= .208; p = .008), and there is significant correlation between need satisfaction for competence with teaching motivation (r= .167; p = .031). Understanding teaching motivation based on self-determination may help teachers in disadvantaged areas to improve and recognize self-potential, so that teachers can develop themselves by optimizing need satisfaction as a factor that influences the teacher's activities in teaching.

Abstract

Sibling conflict has some influences on children’s development, positively and negatively. It is not only about the frequency, but also about the strategies used in managing conflict. The main purpose of this study was to adapt and to validate Sibling Conflict Strategy Scale developed by Recchia (2009), so it can be used by parents in Indonesia to identify their children’s strategies. The process of adaptation was guided by the International Testing Commission (ITC) Guidelines model for test adaptation, which include forward – backward translation processes, followed by expert reviews to test language and conceptual equivalence. Then, we conducted the validation process by testing the Content Validity Index (CVI) and Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA). Two hundred and six parents in Surabaya who have children in the age range of 52-87 months (M = 71.21) were participated in the pilot study. The result showed that each indicator, dimension, and construct met all the Goodness of Fit criteria (RMSEA < .08; CFI > .9). In addition, the value of Construct Reliability (CR) > .70 and Average Variance Extracted (AVE) > .50 were also obtained. Thus, the Sibling Conflict Strategy Scale can be used as a valid and reliable measurement to measure children’s sibling conflict strategies in Indonesia.

Abstract

A number of data show that early marriages still occur in Madura. This is caused by several factors, one of which is low education. This study took place in Madura because in Madura early marriage is still quite a lot done. Some of the underlying factors are the Islamic understanding that if a child is already adult (baligh), they can already get married. In addition, Madurese people still adhere to the tradition of matchmaking and the existence of a belief called sangkal (if women reject applications from men, they will become spinsters or ta paju lake '). This study aims to conduct a literature review on the low level of education with the occurrence of early marriage in Madura. Literature search is done through portalgaruda.org, google scholar, and onesearch.id database by using the keywords "pernikahan dini” (“early marriage”) and “tingkat pendidikan” (“level of education”). The literature collected by using these keywords are 31 articles, but after adding the keyword "Madura" the literature collected becomes 7 articles. The method used in this study is a study of narrative literature. The study shows that low education plays a role in the occurrence of early marriage in Madura.

Abstract

Kata Kunci: need for cognition scale, adaptasi, model pengukuran, confirmatory factor analysisDOI : http://dx.doi.org/10.17977/um023v7i22018p148
