Abstract

One of the vegetation that may be used each as meals and medication is the Moringa plant (Moringa oleifera L.). Empirically, Moringa leaves have many advantages and had been proven to be powerful in treating numerous diseases, consisting of diabetes, hepatitis, heart ailment and excessive cholesterol. The chemical parts contained on this plant are terpenoids, tannins, steroids, polyphenols, and alkaloids. This look at aims to pick out medicinal uncooked substances the use of the meals dehydrator drying method whilst on the equal time making sure the drug raw materials, so that the standardization can be accounted for for its quality. Standardization is done by setting specific and non-specific parameters. This study uses descriptive qualitative and quantitative analysis methods. The sample of this research was taken from Luwung village, Sidoarjo regency. The results of standardization for specific parameters showed the determination of the flavonoid content of 16,08±3,62 mgQE/g, the TLC test showed stains in the form of yellow-green fluorescence under UV light at 366 nm, the water-soluble extract test yielded 7.8%, and the water-soluble extract test yielded 7.8%. ethanol yielded 13.58%. The results for non-specific parameters showed that drying shrinkage was 4.2%, water content was 1.80%, and ash content was 1.4%. The results of the microbial contamination test were 3.9x colonies/ml while the total mold/yeast contamination was 3.1x colonies/ml. Based at the results of studies that has been carried out, Moringa leaf simplicia from Luwung village has met the requirements of specific and non-specific parameters, so that the simplicia may be used as raw material for medication.

Abstract

Cardamom is one of the medicinal plants that can produce essential oils and is included in the top 9 largest spice commodities in the world. As a world export commodity, cardamom is often traded in the form of essential oils and dried fruit forms. This review aims to provide information about phytochemical studies in cardamom and cardamom pharmacological studies to determine the content contained in cardamom. The method used in this article review uses the google scholar, Dimension, and PubMed websites. With the keywords cardamom, phytochemical content, morphology, and pharmacological activity of cardamom plants. In the cardamom plant content test, dragendorf and mayer solvents were used to check for the presence of alkaloid compounds, in the flavonoid examination, HCl, Mg, and amyl alcohol solvents were used, in the examination of tannin compounds, gelatin solvents were used, and in polyphenolic senaywa used FeCl 3 solvents to check the presence of polyphenolic compounds. The antimicrobial activity of cardamom plants is shown by the presence of sineol, terpineol, and alpha-borneol which can reduce bad breath and kill bacteria that cause dental plaque. Anti-inflammatory activity in cardamom plants can prevent and inhibit proinflammatory proteins through all inflammatory signaling pathways. In antioxidant activity there are several compounds including flavonoids that can increase antioxidant defenses and can reduce inflammation. Cardamom has compounds such as: alkaloids, flavonoids, tannins, polyphenolics, and saponins. Because of the presence of compounds contained in cardamom plants, there are several pharmacological activities, including: antimicrobial activity, antioxidant activity, and anti-inflammatory activity.

Abstract

Pendahuluan: Indonesia merupakan salah satu negara dengan varietas mangga terkaya. Tanaman mangga telah dilaporkan memiliki sifat anti-inflamasi, imunomodulator dan antioksidan. Penggunaan tanaman mangga di Indonesia terutama berpusat di sekitar mangga. Meskipun daun mangga sering dianggap limbah dan tidak dimanfaatkan, daun mangga mengandung senyawa aktif mangiferin, polifenol, dan triterpenoid yang memberikan berbagai manfaat bagi daun mangga seperti obat, penyembuhan luka, dll. Metode: Penelitian ini menggunakan ekstrak daun mangga (Mangifera indica L. var. Arumanis) terhadap aktifitas aktioksidan  melalui metode DPPH (1,1 dyphenyl-2-pikrilhidrazil) dengan perbedaan pelarut, serta untuk mengetahui nilai IC50 dari ekstrak daun mangga (Mangifera indica L. var. Arumanis) pada masing – masing pelarut. Hasil: Didapatkan hasil penelitian bahwa ekstrak etanol 70% simplisia daun mangga menunjukkan nilai IC50 sebesar 132 ppm (antioksidan sedang), ekstrak etil asetat simplisia daun mangga sebesar 430 ppm (antioksidan lemah), dan ekstrak n–heksana simplisia daun mangga sebesar 842 ppm (antioksidan lemah) hasil tersebut didapatkan di penelitian ini.  Kesimpulan: Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa pelarut polar mampu melarutkan komponen senyawa polar maupun nonpolar pada tanaman mangga (Mangifera indica L. var. Arumanis). Pelarut yang berbeda mempengaruhi senyawa mana yang larut dalam proses ekstraksi dan diuji berdasarkan polaritasnya.

Abstract

Background: The Bidara plant (Ziziphus mauritiana Lam) is a plant that can be used as a traditional medicine for the treatment of various diseases. Apart from that, the Bidara plant is one type of plant that has the widest distribution and has high economic value. According to several research results, Bidara leaves contain many compounds found in Bidara plants, including saponins, flavonoids, tannins, alkaloids and phenols. Objective: This review journal aims to determine the compounds contained in each part of the Bidara plant and their pharmacological activity. Method: The method used in this article is the literature review method. Results: In this journal review article, there is discussion about Bidara (Ziziphus mauritiana Lam) especially on pharmacological activities such as antibacterial, antimicrobial, antidepressant, anticancer, antipyretic, analgesic, anti-inflammatory and antioxidant in parts of the Bidara plant. Conclusion: in several of these reviews it can be concluded that the part of the Bidara plant that contains many ingredients and has many benefits is the leaves.
