Abstract

Nutritional status is a measure of success in fulfilling nutrition as indicated by weight and height. Nutritional status in this study is the condition of respondent’s health status by measuring weight (kg) divided by height (m²) or Body Mass Index (BMI). Measurement of nutritional status can be used to screen new suspected cases of pulmonary tuberculosis (TB). A person with a thin nutritional status is at risk of developing TB disease compared to the normal one. The purpose of this study was to determine the correlation between nutritional status and new cases suspect of pulmonary TB in the tuberculosis patient’s family in the working area of Tembokrejo Public Health Center, Banyuwangi in 2022. This study used a correlation analytic design with a cross sectional approach and the sampling technique used accidental sampling with 41 respondents as sample. The instrument used for data collection was an observation sheet. Data were analyzed using SPSS with the Fisher’s Excat Test. The results showed that the nutritional status variable obtained a high proportion of pulmonary TB incidence in repondents with underweight nutritional status as many as 2 respondents (4.9%) compared to respondents with normal nutritional status as many as 1 respondent (2.4%). After statistical analysis, the p-value was 0.155, which means Ho was accepted and Ha was rejected, so it can be conluded thet there was no correlation between nutritional status and new cases suspect of pulmonary TB in the tuberculosis patients’ family in the working area of Tembokrejo Public Health Center Banyuwangi in 2022. A person with poor nutritional status makes the diseases attack their body easier, besides it causes the immune system decrease, so it is necessary to improve nutritional status to avoid transmission of disease including tuberculosis.

Abstract

The content of flavonoid compounds in betel leaf is used as a protection as analgesic. The purpose of this study was to test the analgesic effects of Banyuwangi green betel leaf extract (Piper betle L.) on male white mice (Mus musculus). The doses of green betel leaf ethanol extract that were used were 4.696 mg, 9.392 mg and 18.784 mg and the positive control were mefenamic acid. The test animals used in this study were white male mice (Mus musculus) that were adapted for about 3 days in experimental environmental conditions. Based on the results of the study, the analgesic effect test of green betel leaf extract (Piper betle L.) can provide analgesic effectiveness on mice (Mus musculus). Ethanol extracts of green betel leaf (Piper betle L.) at doses of 4.696 mg/kgBW were able to provide a good analgesic effect with good responses to white male mice (Mus musculus). The percentage of analgesic power that was close to the percentage of analgesic power of the gold standard which is 69.23%.

Abstract

Potential hazards are things that have the potential to cause incidents resulting in losses. Besides the risk of disease infection, hospitals have other hazards, such as Hazardous and Toxic Materials. Hazardous and Toxic Materials refer to chemical and biological substances, either individually or mixed, which contaminate and disrupt the environment due to their properties, concentration, or quantity and endanger the health of all contaminated organisms. Blambangan Regional Public Hospital is a workplace with potential hazards and risks that can lead to work accidents. This study aimed to identify potential hazards and risks in the Hazardous and Toxic Materials Warehouse at Blambangan Regional Public Hospital. This research was a qualitative descriptive study with an observational approach using the Job Safety Analysis (JSA) method. The research was conducted at the Hazardous and Toxic Materials Warehouse at Blambangan Regional Public Hospital in June-July 2023. The results identified medium-risk potential hazards and risks in the Hazardous and Toxic Materials Warehouse at Blambangan Regional Public Hospital: moving and arranging goods from trolleys to storage pallets, delivering B3 materials to Hemodialysis Units, an unclean environment in the Hazardous and Toxic Materials warehouse, scattered cardboard boxes piles. If muscles are subjected to repeated loads over a long period, there is a risk of joint damage (musculoskeletal disorders). This research concludes that potential hazards exist in Blambangan Regional Public Hospital's Hazardous and Toxic Materials warehouse located in Banyuwangi, including ergonomic, chemical, and mechanical dangers, each with a medium risk ranking.

Abstract

Hazardous and Toxic Materials are substances, chemical and biological in a single form or mixture, whose properties, concentration, or amount can contaminate, damage, and endanger the environment and health directly or indirectly. Improper storage of Hazardous and Toxic Materials can harm humans and the environment. Blambangan Regional Public Hospital has a Hazardous and Toxic Materials Warehouse used for storing chemicals needed for pharmacy service processes. This study aimed to investigate the Hazardous and Toxic Materials storage in the Hazardous and Toxic Materials Warehouse at Blambangan Regional Public Hospital. This was an observational study using descriptive methods. It was conducted in the Hazardous and Toxic Materials Warehouse of Blambangan Regional Public Hospital during June-July 2023. The results showed that the Hazardous and Toxic Materials storage in the Blambangan Regional Public Hospital Warehouse had Hazardous and Toxic Materials inventory data, and Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS). The availability of Hazardous and Toxic Materials safety facilities includes Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), Hazardous and Toxic Materials signs and symbols, and a spill kit. However, the lack of safety facilities includes Hazardous and Toxic Materials cabinets, body wash stations, and eye wash stations. Guidelines and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for Hazardous and Toxic Materials management are still incomplete, and Hazardous and Toxic Materials emergency handling is not yet well established. This study concludes that the Hazardous and Toxic Materials storage in Blambangan Regional Public Hospital Warehouse does not meet the requirements according to Permenkes No. 66 of 2016, because out of 5 required aspects, only 3 aspects are fulfilled.
