Abstract

Supplier evaluation is a method that is used by companies, including PT. X to ensure that the supplier had been used in accordance with the desired standard. PT. X is a shipping company that serves shipping containers throughout Indonesia, especially in eastern Indonesia. In its operations, PT. X needs trailer tires as truck tires used to transport containers from and to the port where the ship rests. The evaluation of supplier assessment conducted by the previous purchasing department still tends to be subjective and there is no definite method. So that in this study an evaluation of supplier assessment was carried out using the analytic hierarchy process method. The AHP method helps companies make decisions by comparing the level of importance of each assessment criteria and sub-criteria. The value of the level of importance will then be processed using Microsoft Excel to get the weight of the assessment used in the supplier assessment form. In research that uses the AHP method, the final result is the best supplier, the supplier with the highest final value, namely supplier 1.

Abstract

Efficiency is a key component of the organization, and one of the most significant areas is the production process. To support the growth of the business, PT. X has adopted the principle of continuous improvement. However, the continuous improvement projects in the production process, especially in the packing area, have not been implemented in a planned manner and have not been clearly measured. Before designing suitable improvements, the wastes that occur in the packing area must be identified. The method used in this study is Value Stream Mapping (VSM), which is a Lean Manufacturing tool for mapping the whole manufacturing process and identifying waste-producing activities. According to the findings of the analysis, the main waste that dominates the packing area is motion (95,76%), which is caused by excessive and non-ergonomic movement done by the workers in carrying out the process of moving goods. The improvement effort made is reorganizing the layout of the packing area in order to reduce existing waste. The changes made are then mapped in the future VSM. The implementation of the improvements made can reduce motion waste by 20%, production lead time by 1,27%, and worker movement distance by 12,51%.

Abstract

PT. X is a company that produces cigarette filter products in Indonesia. PT. X always makes continuous improvement so that the products produced are of the best quality to maintain the trust of customers. One of the improvements that will be made by PT. X is to improve operator skills and knowledge, so as to increase operator productivity. A production line is said to be productive if the production target on the machine has been met. If the production target is met, the machine downtime will also be lower. One of the factors that cause downtime is the occurrence of defects. Based on the AR (availability rate) report data that has been collected by PT. Previously, the average time for handling defects on 10 machines for 10 weeks was 123.47 minutes per shift or 41.15% of the average production up-time for each shift. This makes the machine's AR value only at 60-70%. If you look at the KPIs that have been determined by the company, the company's target for the AR value is > 85%. The high average downtime causes production results to often do not reach the target and make the machine AR percentage decrease. The higher the downtime percentage, the less finish good will be generated.

Abstract

PT X is a company that works in manufacturing electrical components. One of their plants called Y plant has a mini warehouse that functions as a buffer for inventory between the main warehouse (A plant) and the production line on Y plant. One of the challenges currently present at Y plant’s mini warehouse is the high value of  consignment-Kanban inventory maximum Kanban capacity (K-max), reaching up to $200,073 for 445 part numbers. This problem is caused by the imbalances between certain part numbers’ K-max quantity and their actual average daily usage in real life. The proposed solution for this problem is to recalculate their K-min and K-max quantities by using the latest data that represent their real life conditions. The proposed solution is then implemented to 339 out of 445 consignment-Kanban type part numbers. This implementation brings reduction to the total K-max quantity by 43.96% reduction, and reduction to the total K-max value by 43.98%.

Abstract

PT. X is a manufacturing company engaged in the production of cosmetic packaging. This study focuses on the purchasing process in the Purchasing Department. The problem faced by the Purchasing Department is the lead time for submitting a purchase requisition (PR) to making a purchase order (PO). The standard set by the company is four days. From 2018 to January 2021, 28.45% of purchases did not meet lead time standards. Improvement efforts made were Data Cleaning, naming standardization, making part numbers, submitting PR using email, updating PR forms, and inventory management. After making efforts to improve the percentage of purchase lead times that exceed the four-day span in the PR to PO process, it is 10.89% in February to May 2021. The decrease obtained from the improvements made is 17.55%.

Abstract

Occupational health is an important aspect to be considered by company. Workers, while producing food, cannot be separated from risk of getting occupational diseases. This company wants to implement ‘Zero Diseases’ program and requires documented monitoring and relevant control methods for occupational diseases arising from work activities. Assessing a Health Risk Assessment might be considered the most appropriate way to answer the company’s need related to documenting types, risks categories, and appropriate control methods of related occupational diseases. The method used in data collection is direct interviews, questionnaires, and annual employee’s health monitoring data from the company. The data is processed according to the needs of each type of occupational diseases. The risk categories are grouped based on a risk matrix. Sums up low risk occupational diseases as much as 59%, medium risk as much as 37%, and high risk as much as 4%. Control methods are included and adjusted to the types of occupational diseases and based on the principal of hierarchy of controls. All types of occupational diseases have administrative controls, eight of them have Personal Protective Equipmemt (PPE), and one of them has engineering controls.

Abstract

PT. Z is one of the largest tobacco producing companies in Indonesia, as a company that has the spirit of continuous improvement, the company wants to continue to increase their productivity, which is measured by yield and labor productivity. This research was conducted to provide suggestions as an effort to increase yield and labor productivity. In the project of eliminating idle time for the rotary dryer, it was carried out by rotating workers and adding workers from other lines, the result shows there was a significant increase in labor productivity. In the cleaning process, a suggestion was given in the form of the method used, which initially used the blow method to the suction method. In the metal detecting process, it is proposed to place a magnet before the raw material passes through the metal detector machine, this is expected to reduce overprocessing waste by 25 to 37.5 minutes or 625 to 937.5 kilograms. To determine machine parameters that affect yield, multiple linear regression analysis was performed. Based on these results, it was found that there were 4 variables. which significantly affects the yield for product 1. Meanwhile for product 2, there were 5 variables that significantly affect yields.

Abstract

PT. X is a glass processing company located in Surabaya. Production system based on a customer order. Production could not work based on the schedule because the software cannot match the knowledge on the production floor. It will cause production cannot follow the schedule and inaccurate estimate completion time. This problem affected the percentage of lateness orders reached 33.07%. This project aims to make a proposed schedule that can minimize tardy jobs. The algorithm used in scheduling is Modified Hodgson Algorithm. This algorithm uses the remaining time of the process to decide the order of the jobs. The results showed that there was no difference between initial and proposed algorithm in almost each case, because the input of the cutting process between the present and proposed algorithm are quit the same. The implementation of proposed scheduling has been done in cutting, edge, drill, and notch process. Problems that often occurred are that the product is still in the previous process. It happened because the scheduling does not consider the transport time. The percentage of conformity between the proposed scheduling with realization for cutting, re-cut, edge square, edge irregular, and drill & notch processes is 100%, 33%, 32%, 35%, and 30%.
