Abstract

Pandemi Covid-19 membawa dampak cukup besar bagi lingkungan, diantaranya adalah meningkatnya jumlah limbah masker sekali pakai. Limbah masker sekali pakai memiliki kandungan serat plastik yang membutuhkan waktu cukup lama untuk terurai di lingkungan. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui pengaruh komposisi campuran limbah masker terhadap berat dan kuat tekan paving block, dan kesesuaian paving block dengan standar SNI 03-06910-1996. Pembuatan paving block diawali dengan pencucian dan penjemuran masker di bawah sinar matahari, lalu masker dicacah menjadi berukuran kecil. Selanjutnya masker dicampur dengan semen dan pasir dengan variasi komposisi A (1M:1S:5P), B (2M:1S:4P), C (3M:1S:3P), dan dicetak dengan ukuran 20cmx10cmx6cm. Setelah dilakukan perawatan selama 28 hari, diuji ke laboratorium. Data hasil pengujian dianalisis secara deskriptif dan analitik menggunakan Manova. Hasil pengujian menunjukkan bahwa rata-rata berat dan kuat tekan variasi A, B dan C secara berturut-turut adalah 2.77 kg dan 9.10 MPa; 2.64 kg dan 9.10 MPa; 2.29 kg dan 6.68 MPa. Dari hasil penelitian disimpulkan campuran limbah masker pada paving block berpengaruh signifikan terhadap berat dan kuat tekan. Variasi A dan B termasuk dalam mutu D berdasarkan SNI 03-0691-1996 yang digunakan untuk halaman rumah dan taman.

Abstract

Plastic waste has become a growing environmental concern due to its resistance to natural degradation. Plastics possess several advantageous properties, including water resistance, corrosion resistance, low weight, and high flexibility. Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET) and Low-Density Polyethylene (LDPE) are commonly found in waste. This research aims to process these plastics into roster (ventilation blocks) as an alternative material for non-structural construction. The plastic was melted and then molded using a 5 cm  5 cm  5 cm mold to create test samples for compressive strength and water absorption testing. Products of the rosters were tested for light and wind penetration. The study showed that the average compressive strength of the PET roster was 4.10 N/mm², LDPE roster did not exhibit a distinct collapse point but demonstrated a superior capacity to withstand loads. The water absorption values for the PET and LDPE rosters were 0.15% and 0.67%, respectively. Both types satisfied the water absorption requirements of the Indonesian National Standard. Furthermore, light and wind penetration testing revealed no significant differences between the PET and LDPE blocks. Based on these findings, ventilation blocks fabricated from plastic waste are considered highly feasible and possess strong potential as an alternative, eco-friendly non-structural construction material.
