Abstract

Indonesia merupakan negara beriklim tropis sehingga sangat beresiko terhadap tempat tumbuh dan berkembangnya berbagai vektor penyakit terutama penyakit endemik seperti demam berdarah dengue. Dalam memastikan pasien menderita DBD diperlukan pemeriksaan laboratorium salah satunya pemeriksaan kadar trombosit dan hematokrit. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui gambaran kadar trombosit dan hematokrit pada pasien demam berdarah dengue berdasarkan jenis kelamin serta usia di Puskesmas Sisir Kota Batu. Penelitian deskriptif bersifat kuantitatif dengan sampel berupa seluruh data sekunder rekam medik penderita DBD di Puskesmas Sisir Kota Batu pada tahun 2016-2021 yang memenuhi kriteria inklusi berjumlah 198 orang. Teknik pengambilan sampel yaitu total sampling menggunakan master tabel kedalam SPSS. Hasil penelitian berdasarkan uji chi square menunjukkan DBD berpotensi menyerang seluruh jenis kelamin serta kebanyakan pada kelompok usia remaja (12-25 tahun) dan dewasa (26-45 tahun) dalam keadaan trombositopenia (68,7%), serta nilai hematokrit yang rendah/hemodilusi (49,5%). Selain itu, diperoleh bahwa tidak adanya korelasi yang bermakna (p>0,05) antara kadar trombosit dengan jenis kelamin (p=0,599) dan usia (p=0,114), serta nilai hematokrit dengan jenis kelamin (p=0,190). Terdapat adanya korelasi lemah dan bermakna terhadap nilai hematokrit dengan usia p=0,043 (p<0,05). Berdasarkan keterbatasan yang ada maka perlu dilakukan penelitian serupa disertai dengan data rekam medis yang lengkap, adanya data riwayat penyakit kelainan pasien, serta terapi atau pengobatan yang dilakukan pasien sebelum pemeriksaan. Kata Kunci: Demam berdarah dengue; hematokrit; jenis kelamin; trombosit; usiaAbstract  Indonesia is a country with a tropical climate so it is very risky to place growth and development of various disease vectors, especially endemic diseases such as dengue hemorrhagic fever. One of the laboratory test is the examination of platelet levels and hematocrit.  This study aims to determine the description of platelet and hematocrit levels in dengue hemorrhagic fever patients based on gender and age at Sisir Public Health Center Batu City. Descriptive research is quantitative with a sample of all secondary data medical records of DHF patients at the Sisir Health Center in Batu City in 2016- 2021, there were 198 people who met the inclusion criteria. The sampling technique is total sampling using the master table into SPSS. The results of the study based on the chi square showed that DHF had the potential to attack all gender and mostly in the age group of adolescents (12-25 years) and adults (26-45 years) in a state of thrombocytopenia (68.7%), and a low hematocrit value/hemodilution (49.5%). In addition, it was found that there was no significant correlation (p>0.05) between platelet levels by gender (p=0.599) and age (p=0.114), and the hematocrit value by gender (p=0.190). There is a weak correlation and significant to the hematocrit value with age p=0.043 (p<0.05). Based on the existing limitations, it is necessary to carry out a similar study accompanied by complete medical record data, data on the patient's disease history, as well as therapy or treatment carried out by the patient before the examination.Keywords: Dengue hemorrhagic fever; platelets; hematocrit; gender; age

Abstract

Pembuatan preparat awetan permanen meliputi proses fiksasi menggunakaan KOH 10%, dehidrasi, clearing dan mounting. Clearing bertujuan untuk menjadikan struktur morfologi sampel atau objek menjadi lebih jernih, transparan dan jelas.. Pada penelitian ini larutan yang digunakan yaitu larutan Xilene dan Toluena. Xilene merupakan larutan yang tidak ramah lingkungan, harga lebih mahal dan mudah terbakar,. Sedangkan Toluena merupakan larutan yang terbuat dari pohon tolu yang ramah lingkungan, digunakan sebagai minyak bumi mentah, harga terjangkau, Xilene dan Toluena bersifat menjernihkan karena memiliki kandungan karbon yang sama. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui ada atau tidaknya perbedaan kualitas hasil preparat awetan permanen Aedes albopictus (Stegomyia albopictus) pada proses clearing dengan menggunakan larutan Xilene dan Toluena. Sampel penelitian ini adalah 32 nyamuk Aedes albopictus (Stegomyia albopictus) dewasa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa preparat awetan menggunakan Toluena didapatkan hasil 12 preparat baik, 4 preparat cukup baik. Sedangkan hasil preparat awetan menggunakan Xilene didapatkan hasil 5 preparat baik, 8 preparat cukup baik, 3 preparat buruk. Pada penelitian ini peneliti menggunakan uji statistik Mann-Whitney dan diperoleh hasil yang signifikan yaitu nilai 0,000 0,05. Simpulan, pembuatan preparat awetan permanen Aaedes albopictus (Steggomyia albopictus) lebih baik menggunakan Toluena dibandingkan dengan menggunakanXilene.Kata Kunci: Aaedes Albopictus, Clearing, Toluena, Xilene

Abstract

Bridal tear leaves can be used to treat various health and beauty problems because they contain various active compounds, such as flavonoids, saponins, and tannins. These compounds have antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and antibacterial properties. This flower contains antioxidants that can help protect the skin from damage caused by free radicals. This research aims to see the effectiveness of antioxidants from bridal tear leaves. The research method involves leaf extraction using 96% ethanol and testing antioxidant activity using the DPPH method. The research results showed that the extract sample from bride's tear leaves was (IC50 – 69.7146 ug/mL). This shows that the bride's tear leaf extract is quite strong in inhibiting free radical reactions.

Abstract

Soursop leaves (Annona muricata L.) are known to contain various bioactive compounds with potential antioxidant properties. This study aimed to evaluate the antioxidant activity of soursop leaf extract using the DPPH (2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl) method and to determine its total phenolic content using the Folin–Ciocalteu method. Antioxidant activity was assessed at extract concentrations of 500 and 1000 ppm, with quercetin used as a positive control. The results showed that the soursop leaf extract exhibited very strong antioxidant activity, with an IC50 value of 9,486 ppm. The total phenolic content of the extract was relatively high, ranging from 102,929 to 195,702 mg GAE/g extract. The strong antioxidant activity observed is likely associated with the high content of phenolic compounds, which play a crucial role in scavenging free radicals. These findings suggest that soursop leaf extract has significant potential as a natural antioxidant source for applications in the functional food and pharmaceutical industries.

Abstract

The presence of secondary metabolites in plants plays an important role in their biological activities and supports the use of natural ingredients as candidates for phytopharmaceutical development. This study evaluated the phytochemical profile of ethanol extracts of sente leaves (Alocasia macrorrhizos) and guava leaves (Psidium guajava L.), as well as their combined extract. The extracts were obtained using maceration, followed by qualitative phytochemical screening, UV-Vis spectrophotometry, and FTIR analysis. Physicochemical parameters showed that the moisture content of sente and guava leaves was 4.251% and 4.617%, respectively, while the ash content was 0.97% for sente and 0.59% for guava leaves. The extraction yield of guava leaves (3.81%) was higher than that of sente leaves (2.59%). The results showed that A. macrorrhizos contained flavonoids, tannins, and triterpenoids, whereas P. guajava exhibited a more complete profile, including alkaloids, saponins, flavonoids, tannins, and triterpenoids. The combined extract yielded positive results for almost all tested metabolite groups. The UV-Vis spectra showed absorption peaks in the range of 321–369 nm, while the FTIR spectra revealed the presence of –OH, aliphatic C–H, aromatic C=C, and C–O functional groups. Overall, the findings indicate that both extracts and their combination have strong potential as sources of bioactive compounds and may be further developed for phytopharmaceutical applications.

Abstract

Staphylococcus epidermidis is a bacteria that causes diseases such as urinary tract infections, kidney infections and mostly causes swelling (abscesses) such as acne and skin infections. This bacteria is one of the most common species of the genus Staphylococcus bacteria in clinical interest. Cat's whiskers (Orthosiphon stamineus) is a herbal plant, Lamiaceae family which is used as an antioxidant and is able to inhibit bacteria because it contains antibacterial compounds, namely flavonoids, tannins, triterpenoids and saponins. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of cat's whiskers leaf extract in inhibiting the growth of S.epidermidis. Experimental research type. Disc diffusion method, paper disk planting technique. The results of the study on the inhibition zone A1 (cat's whiskers leaf extract concentration 25%) 7mm, A2 (cat's whiskers leaf extract concentration 50%) 8.375, A3 (cat's whiskers leaf extract concentration 75%) 12.6 mm are categorized as resistant, and A4 (cat's whiskers leaf extract concentration 100%) 15.258 mm are categorized as intermediate, which shows that A4 is the most sensitive and has the most even distribution in inhibiting the growth of S. epidermidis. The results of One Way Anova have a sig value <0.05 there is a significant difference in the four extracts and their positive controls meaning that there is an effect of the concentration of cat's whiskers leaf extract on the growth of S. epidermidis. The conclusion of this study is that there is an effect of the concentration of cat's whiskers leaf extract on the growth of Staphylococcus epidermidis.
