Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan kemampuan mahasiswa dalam hal keterampilan berbicara dengan menggunakan Strategi Quantum Learning. Adapun tujuan dari penelitian adalah untuk mengetahui apakah dengan menggunakan strategi Quantum Learning dapat meningkatkan kemampuan mahasiswa FKIP Bahasa Inggris semester IV TA 2016/2017 dalam hal keterampilan berbicara mereka, bila dibandingkan dengan tanpa menggunakan strategi Quantum learning. Dari hasil penelitian dapat dilihat dari 72 orang siswa, dalam mendeskripsikan hasil penelitian ini, peneliti membagi dalam 3 tahap yaitu : Deskripsi hasil perhitungan kemampuan berbicara mahasiswa fakultas keguruan dan ilmu pendidikanjurusan bahasa Inggris TA 2016 – 2017 tanpa strategi Quantum learning.Deskripsi hasil perhitungan kemampuan berbicara mahasiswa fakultas keguruan dan ilmu  pendidikan  jurusan bahasa Inggris TA 2016 – 2017 dengan menggunakan strategi Quantum learning.Deskripsi hasil hubungan antara pengaruh penggunaan strategi Quantum Learning terhadap kemampuan berbicara mahasiswa FKIP jurusan bahasa Inggris TA 2016 - 2017

Abstract

This study aims to describe the effect of Mind Mapping Learning Model on students ability in writing in Public Speaking courses. The subjects of the study were all three semester students of English education which amounted to four classes of 60 students. This research uses questionnaires data which is distributed to 60 English Semester Three Students at UMSU. The data analysis used is descriptive analysis which include mean, median, standard error and standard deviation, and t test to know the influence of Mind Mapping Learning Model to students ability in writing in Public Speaking course. Abstract

This research discusses the Implementation of Read, Ask, Paraphrase (RAP) Strategy in Improving Students' Achievement in Reading Comprehension. This research was conducted at SMA TAMAN SISWA Medan in the odd semester 2023/2024 academic year. The number of samples was 44 students, the researcher method used was classroom action research method conducted in two cycles. This research was conducted to find out the students' improvement of students' achievement in reading comprehension by applying Read, Ask, Paraphrase (RAP) Strategy. The instruments used in this research are observation sheet and Reading Comprehension test which consists of 20 multiple choices. This study used descriptive quantitative data, quantitative data shows the average score of students from pre-test to post-test. In the Pre-test, the average score was 44.9. In the first cycle Post-test, the average student score was 65.8 and the second cycle Post-test, the average was 80.5, students who scored more than 75 in cycle I were 24 students and the percentage was 54.55%, students who scored more than 75 in cycle 2 were 42 students with a percentage of 95.45%. The results showed that the application of the Read, Ask, Put (RAP) strategy was successful because the success criteria had been achieved. The success criteria is 75% of students can pass the target score of 75 based on the Minimum Completeness Criteria (KKM). This means that the RAP Strategy can improve student achievement in reading comprehension

Abstract

This research is based Unpacking English Primary Teachers Pedagogical Competence Teaching English as A Foreign Language in Indonesia. Researcher found that there is still a lack of knowledge in this regard in the field of English and many students still have difficulties in learning English at the elementary school level and the competence of a teacher is not deep in understanding English material and the researcher looks at how the teacher's competence in teaching Elementary school level students to easily understand English subjects. This research will be conducted using a descriptive qualitative method to describe problems in the process of a teacher's competence in teaching and focus on researching. Based on the findings and discussion, the result of this research can be concluding that:English teacher pedagogic competence in teaching English in SDS Plus Mip Marelan as a whole understands student characteristics by trying to know student personalities, mastering learning theories and educational principles by designing and using various teaching and learning activities, developing curriculum according to rules and objectivity of teaching and learning activities, organizing educational learning activities, helping students in developing self-potential, good communication behavior with students in class, and conducting assessments and evaluations using various techniques appropriate to learning materials and learning objectives.

Abstract

This study deals with the Effect of Flipped Classroom into Focus Group Discussion in Speaking Setting Classroom. The researcher took this method by expecting that students would be more active in communication and doing great speaking with their teacher and friends in learning English. This study was conducting by using experimental and control class and it took 68 (sixty eight) total students of SMAS Budi Agung Medan as sample. They were divided into two groups, they were 37 students were taken as experimental group and by the effect group discussion in speaking, 31 students were taken as control group by flipped classroom method-centre learning by teacher. The instrument of this study was making the sentences they could by paying attention the grammar, pronunciation, fluency, comprehension and vocabulary. The result of the t-test showed that the t-observed was higher than t-table (1.280>1.279). Group speaking method gave a significant effect on the students’ speaking. In order it is possible to make that the students' speaking enhanced as a result of the group discussion. The effect of speaking method in the students' flipped classroom performed better than the usual approach (TCL). Discussions in groups were of a lot of relaxing, cheerful, and challenging activities that make it difficult for students learn spoken English in the classroom.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to know the portrayal of student's in mastering reading comprehension after taught by LRD strategy. To improve students ' reading skills, researchers used the Listen Reading Discuss (LRD) method as a teaching method to assist students in improving their reading skills. The type of Applied Research is class action research consisting of two cycles, each cycle consists of planning, action, observation and reflection. Based on the results of this study, there is an increase in reading ability. This can be seen from the average pre-test score of 56.28, post-test cycle I of 69.17, and post-test cycle II of 89.05. by increasing the percentage of mastery of classical learning by 20% in the pre-test, 60% in the first cycle and 97.14% in the second cycle. Learning English with the Listen Reading Discuss (LRD) method has succeeded in improving student skill achievement in Class X of SMA Brigjen Katamso II for the 2022/2023 academic year. Finally, the researcher suggested to the teachers to use the LRD method as a method of teaching and learning process in terms of reading skills.

Abstract

Salah satu alasan keterbatasan guru-guru TK atau PAUD dalam berbicara bahasa Inggris adalah karena bahasa Inggris belum menjadi mata pelajaran wajib untuk anak usia dini. Bahasa Inggris merupakan mata pelajaran wajib hanya di level SMP sederajat dan SMA sederajat. Di level TK atau PAUD, bahasa Inggris hanya digunakan untuk keterampilan berbicara dasar seperti basic greetings (sapaan dasar), menyanyikan lagu bahasa Inggris sederhana atau menyebutkan kosa kata dasar (basic vocabulary) tertentu seperti alfabet, anggota keluarga, nama hewan, atau menyebutkan warna dalam bahasa Inggris. Sementara itu, di era informasi, komunikasi dan teknologi (ICT era) ini, keterampilan berbicara bahasa Inggris semakin diperlukan. Dengan menguasai bahasa Inggris, guru-guru juga dapat berkomunikasi dengan orang asing, bisa membaca dan memahami buku-buku bahasa Inggris, memahami konten-konten pendidikan berbahasa Inggris di sosial media, dan sebagainya. Tujuan dari pengabdian masyarakat ini adalah untuk melatih kemampuan berbicara guru-guru TK Islam Al-Ikhlas Taqwa terutama dalam pengucapan basic greetings (sapaan dasar) yang sering digunakan guru-guru ketika menyapa anak-anak didik mereka. Diharapkan dengan pelatihan ini, guru-guru termotivasi untuk lebih percaya diri berkomunikasi dalam bahasa Inggris dan membiasakan murid-muridnya dengan bahasa Inggris sejak usia dini untuk menjawab tantangan zaman di era globalisasi ini.

Abstract

The present study evaluates how the integration of the Montessori Method and Anki Digital Flashcards influences the English speaking proficiency of first-year junior high school students at Darul Ulum School, Thailand. A one-group pretest-posttest quasi-experimental approach was utilized with 20 students participating.The intervention combined experiential, student-centered activities based on the Montessori approach with the digital learning features of Anki, which utilizes spaced repetition to enhance vocabulary retention and pronunciation. Data were collected through oral pretests and posttests, focusing on three indicators: vocabulary, fluency, and pronunciation. The findings revealed a notable improvement in the mean score, rising from 79.55 in the pretest to 90.00 in the posttest, resulting in a mean gain of 10.45 points. Statistical analysis using a paired t-test indicated that this improvement was statistically significant (p = 0.001). Observations indicated that students became more confident, fluent, and accurate in their spoken English. The integration of Montessori’s interactive methods with Anki’s digital repetition system created a more active, engaging, and inclusive learning environment. This study concludes that the combined approach is highly effective in enhancing speaking skills for beginner-level EFL learners and offers a promising model for language instruction that meets the needs of today’s digital-native students.

Abstract

This study entitled œAnalysis the Effect of Polysemy on the Speech Learning from Covid-19 by Nadiem Makarim to Elementary School Student. The objectives of this study were (1) to identify the types of polysemy, (2) to investigate polysemy elements used in the speech, and (3) to identify the effect of polysemy were used on the speech to elementary students. The descriptive qualitative is applied in this study. The data were obtained from the speech by Nadiem makarim using documentation method. Afterward, analysis of this study use data reduction, data display, conclusion drawing and verification. The findings of the research show that there are 65 data of polysemy™s words which find in Learning from Covid-19 speech. Based on the types of polysemy, most of Irregular Polysemy were 38 words (58.5%) and followed by Regular Polysemy with 27 words (41.5%). The effect of polysemy on the speech to the elementary student has not been widely applied to elementary school students. Inasmuch as, the student has limited complex reasoning to a word that has another meaning and is critical. In a sentence, polysemy plays an important role and has the function to distinguish the meaning of a word meaning.

Abstract

This research is entitled Analysis the Increase Learning Outcomes in Poets Subject Through CTL Approach to Grade III of State Elementary School 060807 Medan. The reason for this research is to improve the learning outcomes and learning exercises of grade III of State Elementary School 060807 Medan in learning to write poetry. This study utilized classroom research activities conducted in two cycles with student research subjects as the research method. Research information collection methods in the form of test and non-test procedure methods. At that point, the analysis in this consider used the quantitative method. The results of this study show an increase in student learning results. In the preaction test, the average value was 59.57, while in cycle I the normal value was 72.50. In this way the increment in the normal value of writing poetry from the preaction to cycle I was 12.75 points. In cycle II the normal score came to 81, an increase of 8.5 points from cycle I and 21.25 points from the preaction test. Based on the research comes about, teachers are advised to apply the Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) approach since it is demonstrated to progress student learning results.
