Abstract

Abstrak Populasi kendaraan bermotor yang terus meningkat dapat mengakibatkan peningkatan kadar emisi gas buang. Penyumbang emisi gas buang terbesar berasal dari knalpot kendaraan bermotor. Saat ini dunia otomotif (khususnya sepeda motor) berkembang sangat pesat. Sebagai alat transportasi tentunya sepeda motor juga membutuhkan performa mesin yang optimal. Banyak cara yang ditempuh oleh konsumen untuk menghasilkan sepeda motor dengan performa yang tinggi. Modifikasi yang sering dilakukan adalah dengan cara penggantian parts racing pada sepeda motor untuk mecapai performa yang diinginkan. Ada berbagai macam cara melakukan modifikasi pada mesin yang bertujuan untuk meningkatkan performa mesin sepeda motor. Salah satunya dengan modifikasi, heater pada muffler sepeda motor Yamaha New Vixion Lightning. Metode penelitian ini bersifat eksperimental deskriptif kuantitatif dengan standar pengujian performa mesin berdasarkan SAE J1349. Instrumen penelitian adalah tachometer, chassis dynamometer, thermocouple, thermo control, 4-in-1 multifunction environment meter, stopwatch, dan fuel meter. Analisis data menggunakan metode deskriptif kuantitatif dimana penelitian ini menggambarkan fenomena, baik yang bersifat alamiah ataupun rekayasa manusia. Hasil pengujian menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan heater pada knalpot sepeda motor Yamaha New Vixion Lightning dapat meningkatkan performa mesin. Hal ini ditunjukkan dengan meningkatnya performa mesin pada sepeda motor Yamaha New Vixion Lightning. Dengan menggunakan knalpot eksperimen 1 heater dapat mereduksi konsumsi bahan bakar rata-rata sebesar 28,19%, meningkatkan torsi rata-rata sebesar 6,53%, dan meningkatkan daya rata-rata sebesar 3,85%. Sedangkan dengan menggunakan knalpot eksperimen 2 heater dapat mereduksi konsumsi bahan bakar rata-rata sebesar 42,91%, meningkatkan torsi rata-rata sebesar 10,13%, dan meningkatkan daya rata-rata sebesar 10,23%. The biggest contributor to exhaust emissions comes from motor vehicle exhaust. Currently the automotive world (especially motorcycles) is developing very rapidly, as a means of transportation of course motorcycles also need optimal engine performance. Many ways traveled by consumers to produce motorbikes with high performance. Modifications are often done is to replace racing parts on a motorcycle to achieve the desired performance. There are various ways to make modifications to the engine that aims to improve the performance of motorcycle engines, one of them is by modifying mufflers on Yamaha New Vixion Lightning motorcycles. This research method is quantitative descriptive experimental with exhaust gas emission testing standards based on SAE J1349. The research instruments were tachometer, chassis dynamometer, thermocouple, thermo control, 4-in-1 multifunction environment meter, and fuel meter. Data analysis uses quantitative descriptive methods where this research describes phenomena, both natural and human engineering. The test results show that the use of a heater on a Yamaha New Vixion Lightning motorcycle exhaust can improve engine performance. This is indicated by the increase in engine performance on Yamaha New Vixion Lightning motorcycles. By using experimental exhaust 1 heater, it can reduce the average fuel consumption by 28.19%, increase the average torque by 6.53%, and increase the average power by 3.85%. Whereas by using the experimental exhaust 2 heater, it can reduce the average fuel consumption by 42.91%, increase the average torque by 10.13%, and increase the average power by 10.23% Keyword: Heater, muffler, torque, power, fuel consumption

Abstract

Performa kendaraan bermotor dapat dilihat dari torsi dan daya. Baik tidaknya kualitas pembakaran akan mempengaruhi performa (torsi dan daya) sepeda motor, baiknya kualitas pembakaran sejalan dengan performa. Proses pembakaran di ruang bakar dipengaruhi oleh beberapa faktor seperti temperatur, densitas, turbulensi udara, serta komposisi udara dan bahan bakar. Peningkatan turbulensi udara menjadi salah satu cara untuk meningkatkan performa mesin, dimana teknologi yang digunakan umumnya dikenal dengan sebutan jet ranger. Fungsi jet ranger adalah mengubah aliran angin yang semula linier menjadi vortex/spin/memusar. Penelitian ini berjenis eksperimen, dimana Honda Vario 150 cc menjadi objek penelitian. Metode pengujian torsi dan daya dilakukan berdasarkan standar Society of Automotive Engineering( SAE J1349). Temuan penelitian menunjukan bahwa jet ranger terbukti efektif meningkatkan performa (torsi dan daya) sepeda motor Honda Vario 150 cc. Setelah menggunakan jet ranger torsi meningkat disetiap putaran mesin dengan rata-rata peningkatan sebesar 15%. Peningkatan torsi terbesar pada putaran 3000 RPM yakni sebesar 30%, sedangkan peningkatan terendah terjadi pada putaran 9000 rpm yakni sebesar 2%. Berbanding lurus dengan torsi, daya juga mengalami peningkatan disetiap putaran mesin dengan rata-rata peningkatan sebesar 14%. Peningkatan daya terbesar terjadi pada putaran awal atau 1000 rpm yakni sebesar 66%, sedangkan peningkatan terendah terjadi pada putaran 9000 rpm yakni sebesar 3%. The performance of a motorized vehicle can be seen from the torque and power produced by the vehicle. Whether or not the combustion quality is good will affect the performance (torque and power) produced by the motorcycle, the better the combustion quality, the performance will be consistent with this. The combustion process in the combustion chamber is influenced by several important factors such as temperature, density, air turbulence, and the composition of air and fuel. Increasing air turbulence is one of the easiest ways to improve engine performance, where the technology used is generally known as a jet ranger. The function of the jet ranger is to change the originally linear wind flow to vortex/spin/swirl. This research is an experimental type, where Honda Vario 150 cc is used as the object of research. Torque and power testing methods are carried out according to the SAE J1349 standard. The findings of this study indicate that the use of a jet ranger has proven to be effective in increasing the performance (torque and power) of Honda Vario 150 cc motorcycles. After using the jet ranger, the torque increases at each engine speed with an average increase of 15%. The largest increase in torque occurs at 3000 RPM rotation, which is 30%, while the lowest increase occurs at 9000 RPM rotation, which is 2%. Directly proportional to torque, power also increases at every engine speed with an average increase of 14%. The largest increase in power occurred in the initial rotation or 1000 RPM, which was 66%, while the lowest increase occurred in the 9000 RPM rotation, which was 3%.

Abstract

Kompetensi tune up sepeda motor, khususnya pada bagian sistem injeksi bahan bakar, yakni pembersihan injektor menggunakan alat injector cleaner merupakan kompetensi yang penting dimiliki bagi mahasiswa Prodi PVTO UBHI Tulungagung. Sistem bahan bakar sepeda motor zaman sekarang rata-rata menggunakan sistem injeksi, tidak lagi menggunakan sistem kaburator. Namun, alat injector cleaner masih belum dimiliki oleh Prodi PVTO untuk menunjang perkuliahan. Tujuan pada penelitian ini yakni membuat alat Automotive Injektor Cleaner (ATOMIC) untuk memenuhi kebutuhan peralatan penunjang praktikum teknologi sepeda motor. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah perancangan, pembuatan, pengujian, dan analisa kinerja ATOMIC terhadap performa sepeda motor empat tak berteknologi EFI. Berdasarkan hasil dan pembahasan, diketahui bahwa terdapat peningkatan nilai daya torsi sesudah membersihkan injektor menggunakan ATOMIC. Pada aspek daya, nilai tertinggi sebesar 14,2 HP dimana sebelum menggunakan ATOMIC sebesar 13,8 HP pada 9000 RPM. Sedangkan pada aspek torsi, nilai tertinggi sebesar 12,32 N.m dimana sebelum menggunakan ATOMIC sebesar 112 N.m 6500 RPM. Dengan demikian, melalui hasil penelitian tersebut dapat disimpulkan bahwa ATOMIC yang telah dihasilkan layak digunakan sebagai penunjang perkuliahan Teknologi Sepeda Motor di Prodi PVTO Universitas Bhinneka PGRI. The competence of motorcycle tune ups, especially in the fuel injection system, namely the cleaning of the injector using an injector cleaner is an important competency for students of UBHI Tulungagung PVTO Study Program. Today's motorcycle fuel system uses an injection system on average, no longer using a carburetor system. However, the injector cleaner tool is still not owned by the PVTO Study Program to support lectures. The purpose of this study is to make Automotive Injector Cleaner (ATOMIC) tools to meet the needs of motorcycle technology practicum supporting equipment. The method used in this study is the design, manufacture, testing, and analysis of ATOMIC performance on the performance of four-stroke motorcycles with EFI technology. The result of this study is the production of an ATOMIC that functions well and is ready to be used as a support for Motorcycle Technology lectures at the PVTO Study Program of Bhinneka PGRI University.

Abstract

Emissions produced by motorized vehicles greatly contribute to various environmental and health problems. One technology that is currently being developed to reduce the number of emissions in the environment is the catalytic converter. This technology is proven to be able to reduce exhaust emissions well, but how big the impact on engine performance (torque and power) still needs further research. The main objective of this study was to determine the impact of using chrome plated copper (CuCr) catalytic converters on engine performance. The vehicle used in the test is a Yamaha Vixion Lightning 150 CC. Engine performance (torque and power) was measured using the Inertia Chassis Dynamometer test instrument with the SAE J1349 standard. The findings of this study indicate that the use of experimental exhaust results in a decrease in vehicle torque and power. This is certainly a compromising factor that must be accepted, considering that installing a catalyst is the same as increasing the exhaust gas flow barrier. The decrease in torque and power is still in the acceptable category, considering that the average decrease only occurs at about 5% for torque and 7% for power. All these arguments show that since the main purpose of using catalytic converters is to lower exhaust emissions, it makes engine performance lower than expected.

Abstract

Sebagian besar warga Desa Doroampel berprofesi sebagai petani. Sejalan dengan itu, sektor pertanian yang besar memberikan limbah pertanian yang juga besar. Salah satu limbah pertanian tersebut adalah limbah sekam padi. Limbah tersebut seharusnya dapat dimanfaatkan untuk memberikan nilai tambah bagi warga desa. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah memberikan pelatihan dan pendampingan kepada masyarakat Desa Doroampel untuk mengolah limbah pertanian agar menjadi produk yang bermanfaat berupa biobriket arang sekam padi. Metode yang digunakan pada pengabdian ini adalah pelatihan dan pendampingan. Hasil dari pengabdian ini adalah telah dilakukan pelatihan dan pendampingan terkait dengan pemanfaatan limbah padi menjadi produk yang bermanfaat dan memiliki nilai jual yakni biobriket. Kemudian, warga juga diberi pendampingan untuk memasarkan produk biobriket tersebut secara digital melalui beberapa marketplace besar yang ada di Indonesia.

Abstract

Sampah merupakan salah satu permasalahan lingkungan yang hingga kini belum dapat terselesaikan secara sempurna. Keterbatasan lahan untuk pembuangan membuat permasalahan dalam penanganan sampah menjadi kompleks. Dalam hal ini, bank sampah menjadi alternatif strategi pengelolaan sampah. Program pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bermitra dengan perangkat desa dan karang taruna yang memiliki antusias dalam pengelolaan sampah. Metode pelaksanaan digunakan meliputi sosialisasi dan pembentukan sistem bank sampah, dimana kegiatan pelatihan berperan untuk memberikan pengetahuan terkait cara memilah sampah yang dapat didaur ulang, sedangkan pembentukan sistem bank sampah dilakukan untuk meningkatkan sanitasi lingkungan pada masyarakat Desa Doroampel. Hasil program pengabdian kepada masyarakat menunjukkan bahwa masyarakat telah memiliki pemahaman yang baik dalam memilah dan memanfaatkan sampah yang berpotensi untuk didaur ulang. Selain itu, proses pendampingan pembentukan sistem bank sampah juga memberikan respon yang baik, dimana warga merasa terbantu dengan adanya kegiatan ini.

Abstract

Increased exhaust emissions from motor vehicles have become a major concern in efforts to reduce air pollution. One developed solution is the use of transition metallic catalytic converter (TMCC) technology in vehicle exhaust systems. This study aims to compare the fuel consumption efficiency of three types of exhaust systems, namely standard exhaust without a catalyst (STD WC), the standard exhaust with Original Equipment Manufacturer catalyst (STD OEM), and an exhaust system equipped with a Copper-Coated Chrome Metallic Catalytic Converter (TMCC CuCr). The data analysis method employed a quantitative approach by collecting fuel consumption data at each rpm and analyzing the mean and standard deviation. The research findings indicate that STD OEM has a lower average fuel consumption (0.80 liters per hour) and smaller standard deviation (0.06) compared to TMCC CuCr (0.83 liters per hour and 0.07). Although TMCC CuCr demonstrates good efficiency, STD OEM remains the best choice in terms of fuel efficiency. However, if the differences in fuel consumption and standard deviation are considered insignificant, TMCC CuCr could be a more economical alternative with its affordable price and greater material availability. Furthermore, its fuel consumption performance is not significantly different from that of STD OEM.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of variations in fuel brands, spark plug types, and tire pressure on four-stroke motorcycle engine performance. The independent variables tested include three variations of fuel brands (Pertamax, Shell Power, and AKR 92), spark plug types (standard, iridium, and platinum), and tire pressure (28 psi, 33 psi, and 38 psi). The experimental method was conducted on a Honda MegaPro PGM-FI motorcycle by measuring torque and power at various RPM using a chassis dynamometer test equipment. The results show that the sample 2 with combination of Shell-Super fuel brand, platinum spark plugs, and 33 psi tire pressure has a significant positive impact on engine performance, with higher torque and power as well as more consistent variations than other combinations. This research has important implications for motorcycle users, enabling them to optimize vehicle performance by choosing the right fuel, keeping spark plugs in good condition, and maintaining optimal tire pressure.

Abstract

Vocational Education in Automotive Technology (VEAT) plays a crucial role in preparing students for the industry. The ability to compose scholarly works is a vital aspect, reflecting the assessment of learning and the development of analytical, synthesis, and information literacy skills. VEAT students often encounter challenges in using the Mendeley reference management tool, potentially reducing the quality of scholarly works and increasing the risk of plagiarism. There is a knowledge gap among VEAT students regarding the use of Mendeley, necessitating strategic steps to enhance their understanding and skills. This community engagement initiative introduces in-depth training and mentoring on Mendeley for VEAT students, aiming to improve research efficiency, academic literacy, and confidence in composing scholarly works. The implementation method involves training design, field observations, preliminary studies, and the evaluation of students' understanding before and after training. Implementation includes Mendeley installation, account creation, and application usage, with evaluations covering several key indicators. Results indicate that this community engagement activity successfully enhances the understanding and skills of VEAT students in reference management, evidenced by significant improvements in all evaluation indicators. The average score increased by 62%, reflecting consistent improvement. Despite the positive outcomes, attention to technical constraints and consideration for extending training duration is necessary. Continuous evaluation is required to ensure the effectiveness of this community engagement initiative, expected to contribute positively to the quality of vocational education in the automotive technology field.

Abstract

The publication of scientific articles in accredited journals plays a central role in the academic world, especially for engineering students. While previous Community Service (Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat or PKM) activities focused on enhancing students' understanding and skills related to scientific article writing, this PKM identifies specific needs of engineering students for more comprehensive training and mentoring. In order to meet these needs, the PKM organizes specialized training and mentoring for engineering students. Evaluation is conducted by measuring the quality of article writing, language clarity, scientific contribution, and adherence to the guidelines of the SINTA indexed journals. The PKM stages involve the collection of initial data, training implementation, assignment of article writing tasks, technical mentoring, and evaluation using assessment instruments. The results of the PKM activities have significantly improved the quality of student writing. Scores for article quality, language clarity, scientific contribution, and adherence to the guidelines of SINTA indexed journals have increased, reflecting the students' ability to produce better articles. Overall, this PKM activity makes a significant contribution to enhancing the abilities of engineering students in writing scientific articles that meet the standards of accredited SINTA journals. The relevance of this improvement is not only limited to meeting graduation requirements but also extends to the students' contribution to the development of knowledge in the field of engineering.
