Abstract

The rapid development of technology has led to deviant behaviors among teenagers, such as dating, smoking or vaping, and bullying. Limited PAI learning in class makes ROHIS activities an important alternative for internalizing Islamic values among Gen Z students at SMA Negeri 1 Gemolong. This research aims to explain the internalization process of PAI values and identify supporting and inhibiting factors. The subjects are ROHIS members. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, data was collected through interviews, observation, and documentation. Results show the internalization process through ROHIS aligns with the ROHIS Work Program Plan, including daily (WhatsApp channel), weekly (routine studies, mosque cleaning, and da'wah posters and videos), and annual programs (Ta'aruf, zakat management, Pesantren Kilat, Bukber and Sarasehan, Takjil distribution, training, grand study and talkshow, and social service). This aligns with ROHIS's vision and mission. Internalization occurs in three stages: 1) value transformation through WhatsApp, routine studies, da'wah posters and videos, Pesantren Kilat, training, and grand study; 2) value transaction through mosque cleaning, da'wah posters and videos, Ta'aruf, zakat management, Bukber and Sarasehan, Takjil distribution, and social service; 3) transinternalization of values, embedding morals towards Allah, humans, and the environment. Methods used include exemplary, habituation, motivation, and rule enforcement. Supporting factors include clear ROHIS vision and mission, support from coaches and PAI teachers, and internal motivation of ROHIS members. Inhibiting factors include suboptimal social media use and limited time and activity schedules.

Abstract

Indonesian society is plural and requires a religious approach that is inclusive, tolerant, and balanced. Inter-sectarian comparison is considered important because it can demonstrate that the diversity of opinions in Islamic jurisprudence is an intellectual wealth of Islam that can promote moderation and prevent students from fanaticism. This study aims to analyze cross-sectarian comparative studies as an effort to strengthen religious moderation in Islamic Religious Education. This study uses a qualitative method with a Library Research approach. The results of the study show that religious moderation in Islam emphasizes the principles of tolerance, openness, and justice. In Islamic Religious Education, strengthening religious moderation can be done thru teacher example, implementation of a moderation-based curriculum, integration of moderate values into all materials, and dialogical and participatory teaching methods. Cross-madzhab comparative studies are relevant in shaping moderate attitudes because they provide a proportional understanding of the differences in scholars' opinions, thus fostering an inclusive perspective and preventing students from adopting fanaticism or claiming sole truth. Interfaith comparison should be positioned as a supporting means that enriches students' religious perspectives, not as an arena to emotionally sharpen sectarian differences. Thus, cross-madzhab comparative integration in Islamic Religious Education learning has the potential to strengthen students' characters to be more inclusive, tolerant, and capable of living harmoniously in a multicultural society.

Abstract

The large number of students from diverse backgrounds and with varying characters, such as a lack of politeness toward teachers and parents, students who still violate the rules in the madrasah environment, and a low level of religious character awareness. The purpose of this study is to determine the cultivation of religious character in eighth-grade students at MTs Darul Ma'arif Purwodadi. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach. It will be held at MTs Darul Ma'arif from November 2024 to April 2025. Data collection methods used observation, interviews, and documentation. Data validity was ensured using source and method triangulation. The data was then analyzed using an interactive model with data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing steps. The results of this study indicate that the cultivation of religious character at MTs Darul Ma'arif is carried out thru the habituation of reading Asmaul Husna, Quran Reading and Writing (BTQ), Dhuha and Dhuhr prayers in congregation, and Quran recitation, which are carried out according to a regular weekly schedule. Asmaul Husna habituation is done every Friday and Saturday under the supervision of teachers and led by students on a rotating basis, creating a solemn learning atmosphere despite some minor discipline issues. BTQ learning emphasizes memorizing short surahs from Juz 'Amma using the tartil method and makhorijul huruf, which are closely supervised by the teacher who also serves as a role model for religious behavior for the students.

Abstract

Indonesian society is plural and requires an inclusive, tolerant, and balanced religious approach. A cross-madzhab comparative study of fiqh demonstrates that differences of opinion among Islamic scholars represent intellectual richness rather than sources of division, and can therefore foster religious moderation and prevent fanaticism. This study aims to analyze the role of cross-madzhab fiqh comparison in strengthening religious moderation within Islamic Religious Education. Using a qualitative library research approach, this study analyzes classical fiqh texts, contemporary scholarly works, and educational literature through thematic content analysis. The findings indicate that Islamic religious moderation emphasizes tolerance, openness, and justice, which can be strengthened in Islamic Religious Education through teacher exemplification, moderation-based curricula, value integration across learning materials, and dialogical-participatory learning methods. Cross-madzhab comparison is relevant in shaping moderate attitudes by enabling students to understand juristic differences proportionally, thus discouraging exclusive truth claims and fanaticism. This study contributes to Islamic education discourse by positioning cross-madzhab comparison as a pedagogical tool to strengthen students’ inclusive and moderate religious character in a multicultural society.

Abstract

The erosion of students’ religious character in Islamic schools has become an urgent educational challenge, particularly in fostering discipline, moral awareness, and respectful behavior. This study investigates how religious character is cultivated among eighth-grade students at MTs Darul Ma'arif Purwodadi in the 2024/2025 academic year and evaluates the effectiveness of institutional religious habituation programs. Using a qualitative case study design, data were collected through classroom observations, semi-structured interviews with teachers and students, and institutional documentation. Data were analyzed using an interactive model of data reduction, data display, and verification, with triangulation applied to ensure trustworthiness. The results indicate that religious character formation is facilitated through an integrated system of religious habituation, including Asmaul Husna recitation, Qur’anic literacy (BTQ), congregational prayers, and regular Qur’an recitation. These practices, supported by consistent teacher supervision and role modeling, contribute to increased religious awareness, improved discipline, and more positive student behavior. However, variations in student engagement and self-discipline suggest the need for more individualized reinforcement strategies. This study contributes to Islamic education literature by demonstrating how structured religious routines and pedagogical modeling can serve as an effective framework for character education in madrasah settings.
