Abstract

This study is intended to analyze the feasibility operation KMP Roditha which owned by PT. ASDP Indonesia Ferry (Limited). Location of research in the trajectory Sheet - Padang Bai, was used the Break Even Point. Collecting a range of cost of KMP Rodita, therefore was known the operating costs, maintenance costs and income from the sale of tickets while one year. Stepsare used in this research is the analysis of quantitative data, where i would collect the data required in relation to the matter to be investigated, so that research results can be more reliable and credible. The results of this study indicate that KMP Roditha income in 2010 was Rp. 12,007,178,916, of a total of 504 trips. Break Even Point in 2010 occurred in the 5th month on 213 trips, so that KMP Roditha feasible to operate.

Abstract

Agricultural waste such as corn cobs and coconut shell can be used as alternative energy. Biomass as an alternative energy can be used as a fuel in the furnace. Corncob has low calorific value and density, so it is necessary to examine the combination’s effect of corn cobs and coconut shell toward the performances of biomass furnace. The gasification furnace was the development of a furnace design on previous research. Diameter of combustion chamber is 25 cm, diameter of free air duct and secondary air duct is 2 cm, and primary air duct is 1 cm. Combined corncob and coconut shell in sequence are 100%: 0%, 80%: 20%, 60%: 40%, 40%: 60%, 20%: 80%, 0%: 100%. Investigated parameters showing the furnace performance were boiling time, FCR, power input, power output, power loss and efficiency are boiling time, FCR, operating time, power input, power output, power loss and efficiency. Test of operating time were conducted by burning fuel until burned out. Then boiling time test were conducted by heated 1 liters water from ambient temperature to boiling (between 95oC - 97oC) on a 24 cm diameter pan.The results showed that the largest operating time (1317.33 Seconds), smallest FCR (2.249 Kg/hour), smallest power loss (19.532 kW), and the highest efficiency (8.19%) obtained at 0% : 100% combination. The fastest boiling time (157 Seconds) and the largest power output (1.828 kW) was obtained at 40%: 60% combination. While the largest power input (29.286 kW) was obtained at 60%: 40%.

Abstract

The more demands of the consumers for quality product have made the industry develop product which can satisfy the customers. This study aimed at finding out the design process and the product development which observed the customer’s needs and wants, and developed the initial design to obtain the design which met customer’s wants and needs. This study employed QFD method to identify the Voice of Customers (VoC). VoC was obtained through questionnaire, distibuted to 90 customers from 3 UKMs, i.e. UD Tiga Puteri, and two competitor UKMs, UKM Debu and UKM Mia Bamboo Collection. The questionnare distribution was undertaken to find the lavel of the customer’s interest, so that the UKM needed to develop a new product which met the customers’ satisfaction. From the three studied design, the old design (A) and the two new designs (B and C), the new desigm of chair (C) was the most appealing to the customers, with the average grade of 4.26, and the least appealing was the chair with the design (A) with the average score of 3.54. As for the bamboo chair product development according to the priority for improvement were, respectively, finishing process with priority contribution of 5.7, the strength value with the priority contribution of 2.5, durability with priority contribution of 1.9, and the aspect with the lowest priority value was colour with the score of 0.9.
