Abstract

Abstract

Education on Clean and Healthy Living Behavior (PHBS) education is an important aspect of disease prevention, especially in early childhood. Getting used to clean living from an early age not only protects children from the risk of infection, but also forms the basis of sustainable health. PHBS education for PAUD children is a preventive step to increase awareness of hygiene and health from an early age. The “Clean and Healthy Living Behavior Education (PHBS) through Cartoon Films for PAUD Children” program initiated by this service team aims to introduce PHBS interactively. Learning methods include showing educational cartoon films, interactive discussions, direct demonstrations, and simple material delivery. The results of the program indicate an increase in understanding and a positive change in children's attitudes toward hygiene practices, particularly in handwashing and consuming nutritious food. Previously, only 2 out of 14 children understood the correct handwashing steps, but after the program, this number increased to 10 out of 14, demonstrating the effectiveness of animated educational films as a teaching tool. These findings suggest that animated films are an effective method for instilling PHBS in early childhood and have the potential for broader application as a preventive effort to improve public health quality.

Abstract

Integrated waste management activities in Jogonalan Hamlet, Kulonprogo have been implemented through a waste sorting system based on three main categories-organic, non- organic, and B3, which is the result of collaboration between Students of Community Service Program Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta and Kulonprogo Waste Bank Parent. The program began with a socialization and workshop presented by Mr. Sugiyanto, Director of Induk Bank Sampah Kulonprogo, who emphasized the importance of applying the 3R principles (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) and building a network of waste banks at the village and hamlet level. The implementation of the program is in the form of education to the community about the use of technology such as Google Maps to map the location of waste banks and digital savings book applications to record waste savings balances, as well as the importance of the involvement of various parties such as PKK, Farmers Groups, Women Farmers Groups, Pokdakan, Takmir Masjid, Karang Taruna, MSMEs, and PAUD in supporting a sustainable waste management system. The results of the activities show a significant increase in community awareness and participation in sorting waste, especially non-organic waste that has a selling value, although the main challenge in this program is to change the mindset and habits of the community to consistently sort waste, with the program's strengths lying in increasing community understanding that waste can be an economic source and the importance of individual roles in creating a cleaner environment, so it is hoped that with continued education and assistance, an integrated waste management system can become an integral part of the daily lives of the people of Jogonalan Hamlet

Abstract

Increased circulation, hormones, and energy metabolism due to exercise are thought to have a positive effect on nerve growth and development. This study aims to examine the effect of addition of sports games on IQ score, TSH, and BDNF levels of elementary school children in IDD endemic areas. This research method was a quasi-pretest-posttest control group design experiment. As many as 40 children aged 9 -11 years were divided into 19 children as controls, and 21 children doing sports games for 30 minutes per day, five times a week for eight weeks. Serum TSH and BDNF levels were measured using ELISA and IQ score using Culture Fear Intelligence Test (CFIT) method. Statistical analysis used was T-test, Wilcoxon, and Mann-Whitney test. The mean of serum TSH levels and IQ scores of the treatment group were not significantly different from those of the control group (p>0.05). The mean of BDNF levels in both groups increased significantly, and the increase in BDNF levels in the treatment group was greater than in the control group (p<0.05). It can be concluded that the addition of sports games did not significantly change TSH levels and IQ scores (p>0.05), but significantly increase BDNF levels (p<0.05).
