Abstract

The development and use of diagnostic tests in the form of multiple choice four levels in biology learning are still lacking. This study aims to develop a valid and reliable four-tier multiple-choice test instrument to identify the conception profile of high school students on the concept of transport across membranes. The research method is in the form of development research by adapting the Kilic and Saglam models which consist of three stages, namely defining content, obtaining information on student misunderstandings, and developing tests. The research instruments used were validation sheets, test instruments, and interview sheets. Descriptive statistical analysis techniques were used to analyze the data in this study. The results showed that 15 items developed were declared valid and the reliability coefficient of the test was 0.82, including the very reliable category. Thus, it can be concluded that the four-tier multiple-choice test instrument developed has met the validity and reliability requirements to identify the conception profile of high school students about the concept of transport across membranes. The four-tier multiple-choice test developed can be used by high school teachers as an accurate test to identify the conception profile of their students because it can distinguish between students who understand the concept, do not understand the concept, or who experience misconceptions about the concept of transport across membranes.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui tingkat motivasi belajar siswa kelas VII SMP Anugerah Tondano pada pembelajaran IPA di era pandemi Covid-19. Penelitian ini merupakan jenis penelitian kuantitatif dengan metode deskriptif. Subjek dalam penelitian ini berjumlah 12 siswa kelas VII. Instrumen yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini berupa angket motivasi belajar siswa yang berisi delapan indikator tentang motivasi belajar siswa pada pembelajaran IPA di era pandemi Covid-19. Data penelitian dikumpulkan menggunakan teknik angket, sedangkan teknik analisis data menggunakan statistik deskriptif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa dari total 12 siswa sebagai subjek penelitian terdapat 1 siswa yang memiliki motivasi belajar sangat tinggi, 2 siswa memiliki motivasi belajar tinggi, 6 siswa memiliki motivasi belajar sedang, 2 siswa memiliki motivasi belajar rendah, dan 1 siswa memiliki motivasi belajar sangat rendah. Berdasarkan penelitian yang telah dilakukan, peneliti menyimpulkan bahwa motivasi belajar siswa kelas VII SMP Anugerah Tondano pada pembelajaran IPA di era pandemi Covid-19 termasuk pada kategori motivasi belajar sedang dengan persentase sebesar 76%.

Abstract

This study aims to develop a valid and reliable biological macromolecules three-tier test (BM-3T) so that it is feasible to identify misconceptions of prospective science teachers. This research is a type of research and development by following the research design by Kiliç and Sağlam, which consists of three stages, namely defining content, obtaining information on student misconceptions, and developing tests. Research data was obtained through interviews, validation, and test trials. The subjects in this study consisted of 14 prospective science teachers in the first semester in the 2021/2022 academic year at the Universitas Negeri Manado. The data analysis carried out includes the analysis of test validity, test reliability analysis, and test difficulty level analysis. The results showed that the 16 test items developed were declared valid, the test reliability coefficient of 0.78 was in the reliable category, and the level of difficulty of BM-3T shows an average value of 0.44, which is included in the moderate category. Therefore, BM-3T is appropriate to identify misconceptions of prospective science teachers on the topic of biological macromolecules.

Abstract

Kegiatan wawancara awal memberikan informasi bahwa model pembelajaran eksploratif belum pernah diterapkan pada mata kuliah ilmu lingkungan, dan dosen belum pernah melakukan penilaian psikomotorik khususnya keterampilan proses sains. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kemampuan keterampilan proses sains mahasiswa dalam pembelajaran eksploratif fenomena lokal dan global mengenai perubahan gelombang air dan kecepatan angin di Danau Tondano. Metode penelitian campuran (mixed method) dengan explanatory sequential design digunakan dalam penelitian ini. Lembar observasi dan pedoman wawancara digunakan sebagai instrumen penelitian. Subyek penelitian adalah 12 orang calon guru IPA yang mengontrak mata kuliah ilmu lingkungan di Universitas Negeri Manado pada tahun ajaran 2022/2023. Kami menggunakan teknik observasi dan wawancara sebagai teknik pengumpulan data. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa keterampilan proses sains mahasiswa calon guru IPA dalam pembelajaran eksploratif fenomena lokal dan global mengenai perubahan gelombang air dan kecepatan angin di Danau Tondano memperoleh persenase rata-rata 85% dan termasuk dalam kategori sangat baik. Hasil penelitian ini memberikan informasi baru bahwa kemampuan keterampilan proses sains menunjukkan hasil yang sangat baik melalui setting pembelajaran eksploratif.

Abstract

Pada masa pasca pandemi COVID-19 ini, perkembangan teknologi informasi dan komunikasi terjadi begitu cepat sebagai akibat dari penyesuaian terhadap pademi sebelumnya. Situasi ini menuntut pelajar harus memiliki kemampuan literasi digital untuk memanfaatkan teknologi dengan tepat. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan tingkat literasi digital calon guru sekolah dasar di Sekolah Tinggi Keguruan dan Ilmu Pendidikan (STKIP) Persada Evav Tual pasca pandemi COVID-19. Penelitian ini termasuk penelitian kuantitatif dengan metode survei. Subjek penelitian terdiri dari 119 mahasiswa yang diperoleh melalui teknik simple random sampling. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan teknik angket dengan instrumen penelitian berupa kuisioner. Data penelitian dianalisis secara deskriptif kuantitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tingkat literasi digital calon guru sekolah dasar di STKIP Persada Evav Tual pasca pandemi COVID-19 secara umum berada pada kategori sedang dengan persentase 59%. Tingkat literasi digital pada aspek internet searching (67%) termasuk pada kategori tinggi, hypertext navigation (58%) termasuk pada kategori sedang, content evaluation (54%) termasuk pada kategori sedang, dan knowledge assembly (60%) termasuk pada kategori tinggi. Hasil penelitian ini dapat menjadi salah satu dasar pertimbangan mengenai pelaksanaan pembelajaran di STKIP Persada Evav Tual selain tatap muka, baik itu pembelajaran daring atau campuran pada masa normal baru pasca pandemi COVID-19.

Abstract

The 21st century is known as the digital age, in which teachers' and students' ability to access and utilize technology is essential. This study aims to develop feasible and practical interactive multimedia on environmental pollution topics with a STEM approach for junior high school students. The research type we use is development research using the ADDIE model. The data collection techniques used were interviews and questionnaires. The research instruments used were interview sheets and questionnaires. Quantitative and qualitative data analysis techniques were used in this study. The results showed that the validation of subject matter experts was 93%, learning media experts was 94%, and peer assessment was 94%. All three were included in the very feasible category and did not require revision. In addition, the small group evaluation obtained an average score of 4.50 with a percentage of 90%. Based on these findings, interactive multimedia on environmental pollution topics with a STEM approach for junior high school students was declared feasible and practical for science learning. The STEM-based teaching material we have successfully produced can support and answer some of today's science learning challenges.Abstrak. Abad ke-21 dikenal sebagai era digital, dimana kemampuan guru dan siswa dalam mengakses dan memanfaatkan teknologi menjadi sangat penting. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangan multimedia interaktif berbasis STEM pada topik pencemaran lingkungan untuk siswa SMP yang layak dan praktis digunakan. Jenis penelitian yang kami gunakan adalah penelitian pengembangan menggunakan model ADDIE. Teknik pengumpulan data yang kami gunakan adalah wawancara dan kuisioner. Instrumen penelitian yang kami gunakan adalah lembar wawancara dan angket. Teknik analisis data kuantitatif dan kualitatif digunakan dalam penelitian ini. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa validasi ahli materi pelajaran 93%, ahli media pembelajaran 94%, dan penilaian teman sejawat 94% yang mana ketiganya termasuk pada kategori sangat layak dan tidak memerlukan revisi. Selain itu, hasil penilaian siswa dalam small group evaluation memperoleh skor rata-rata 4.50 dengan persentase 90%. Berdasarkan temuan tersebut, multimedia interaktif berbasis STEM pada topik pencemaran lingkungan untuk siswa SMP dinyatakan layak dan praktis dimanfaatkan dalam pembelajaran IPA. Bahan ajar berbasis STEM yang berhasil kami produksi diharapkan mendukung dan menjawab sebagian tantangan pembelajaran IPA masa kini.

Abstract

Teachers generally lack sufficient knowledge about STEM approaches, so teachers have difficulty developing STEM-based modules. Our research aims to develop a STEM-based science e-module on the human excretory system topic that is suitable for use by junior high school students. We use a type of research and development (R&D) concerning the Borg & Gall development model modified by Palilingan. Data collection techniques using interviews and questionnaires. The research instruments used interview sheets, product validation questionnaires, and product practicality questionnaires. The results showed that: (1) the validity test by learning media experts obtained a score of 98.33% and was included in the very valid category (no need for revision); (2) the validity test by subject matter experts shows a value of 99.17% and is included in the very valid category (no need for revision); and (3) limited trials in small groups show a value of 93.40% and are included in the very practical category. Based on the research that has been done, the STEM-based science e-module on the human excretory system topic that is suitable for use by junior high school students is appropriate for use by junior high school students.

Abstract

Our study aimed to develop a feasible STEM-based virtual laboratory on global warming topics for junior high school students. We used the development research type by adopting Thiagarajan's 4D model development procedure, which was limited to the development stage. The data collection methods we used were questionnaires and interviews, while the research instruments were interview sheets and questionnaires. Product validation involved a lecturer as a subject matter expert and a lecturer as a learning media expert. In addition, a small group evaluation sample with 10 students was selected using a simple random sampling technique to be involved in the product trial. Qualitative and quantitative data analysis techniques were used. The results showed that the assessment by subject matter experts received a feasibility percentage of 84%, including the criteria worth using, and the assessment by learning media experts received a feasibility percentage of 85%, including the criteria worth using. In addition, the small group student response trial showed 91%, which means the developed product is very practical. Thus, the STEM-based virtual laboratory on global warming topics was declared feasible for junior high school students to use in science learning

Abstract

This research aims to determine the prospective science teachers' mastery level of science process skills (SPS), the mastery level of SPS indicators, and the prospective science teachers' mastery level of SPS based on gender. This study used a descriptive method with a quantitative approach. Purposive sampling techniques are used and obtain 23 prospective science teachers during the last two years at the Universitas Negeri Manado. The research instrument used interview guidelines and observation sheets. The results showed (1) the prospective science teachers' mastery level of SPS in practicum activity at the laboratory is 80% categorized as sufficient; (2) the mastery level of SPS indicators by prospective science teachers: classifying 87% categorized as good, observing 86% categorized as good, asking questions 82% categorized as sufficient, experimenting 81% categorized as sufficient, planning an experiment 79% categorized as sufficient, interpreting data 77% categorized as sufficient, and communicating 70% categorized as very poor; (3) based on gender, the mastery level of the SPS by prospective female science teachers (83%) is higher than prospective male science teachers (73%). The findings are useful for science education lecturers to direct their laboratory teaching for prospective science teachers to master science process skills.
