Abstract

This research is to find out the characteristics of Napoleon in Animal Farm. This is a qualitative research project since the data collected is in the form of words rather than numbers. The data were collected in the novel Animal Farm as the primary source. The secondary sources, such as books, documents, and the internet, are used to support the analysis. An objective approach was applied in analyzing the data. The result shows Napoleon possessed certain characters, such as opportunist and dictator, who used hypocrisy, treachery, conspiracy, intimidation, and distortion as his means of achieving his goals. Napoleon uses his power to obtain his ambition. As a man, his ambition to indulge himself is reality, but more ambition is obtained in an unfair way that reflects Napoleon's experience of only destroying other animals. He uses his strength or his power to intimidate or hurt those who are weaker. Four pigs are killed on Napoleon’s order. Three hens were executed, as were a goose and some sheep.

Abstract

Human resources cannot be separated from training activities in an organization or company. Human resource training is required for all organizations and institutions because almost everyone recognizes that the success of an organization or company is heavily reliant on the human resources that manage it. Employees require training in order to improve their abilities, knowledge skills, motivation, and behavior. Human resource training is critical in today's modern era of development because employees' formal education is insufficient to meet the demands of jobs and positions in organizations and companies. Furthermore, putting human resources on the job does not guarantee that they will understand their roles and responsibilities. New human resources frequently feel insecure and unsure of their roles and responsibilities in the organization or company where they work. As a result, new employees should receive training that includes an introduction to corporate culture and values, regulations, and policies, as well as their primary tasks that support the achievement of the organization's or company's vision and mission. Human resources who lack self-confidence are less likely to fulfill their duties and obligations fully, particularly in educational institutions. Furthermore, human resources professionals who have long worked in organizations and companies require training to improve their skills, insight, and motivation in assisting the organization's vision and mission.

Abstract

This research intends to reveal violence and its impact in Alice Walker’s The Color Purple. The design of this study is qualitative research that pictures the data in the form of words and quotations. The writer collects and selects the data from the primary source, the novel itself, and the secondary source, which includes books explaining research, literature, and some other references that are relevant and support the analysis. In analyzing the data, the writer uses an objective and mimetic approach to explore the literary work as a reflection of human life. The result shows that Afro-American women, as pictured in Celie’s experience, are treated badly physically, sexually, and mentally by black men who are introduced as her stepfather and her husband. These bad treatments are caused by an internal factor that comes from Celie’s plain character: a fear of fighting. Besides that, the external factor, which comes from social conditions at that time, also gives influence toward men’s point of view about black women, in which for them, women are inferior socially so that they are usually the object of cruel treatment from white, even black men.
