Abstract

This Community Service Activity (PKM) aims to strengthen the intellectual capacity of specialised students of Tafsir at Ma'had Aly Attaqwa KH. Noer Alie through the organisation of a general lecture series. The programme is designed to bridge classical scholarly traditions (turats) with modern intellectual challenges by implementing an Outcome-Based Education (OBE) curriculum. This methodology focuses on measurable outcomes, specifically the students' ability to critically examine and analyse contemporary thought, particularly the hermeneutics of Muhammad Syahrur. The results of the activity demonstrate the effectiveness of the OBE approach, as students showed measurable improvements in their analytical and critical thinking skills. They were not only able to scientifically critique new ideas but also strengthened their awareness of the fundamental role of turats as a solid methodological foundation. The key to engaging with new ideas like Syahrur's is a strong mastery of classical scholarly foundations. The main conclusion emphasises that mastery of classical interpretive methodology is an absolute prerequisite for engaging critically and productively with modern thought. Overall, this activity successfully prepared Ma'had Aly students to become ethical, intelligent, and critical Muslim intellectuals. They were equipped with the ability to bridge the gap between the solid intellectual heritage of Islam and the dynamics of their times, enabling them to provide authentic enlightenment and solutions to the community's needs.

Abstract

The weakness of the learning process is one of the problems in Indonesia's education world today. In the learning process, children are less encouraged to develop thinking skills, and they tend to be directed to memorize information so that students are more theoretically brilliant but weak in the application. Coupled with distance learning also gives unsatisfactory results for students because they only receive material without not being practiced. There is a need for changes in the learning process. The purpose of this community service activity is to provide assistance on practical Fiqh learning to teachers at SD IT Bina Insani Muslim. Although the study of material on Fiqh is practically not too deep, it is hoped that the teacher will be able to provide the whole teaching because Islam gives more attention to daily worship. To achieve this goal, training and mentoring SD IT Bina Insani Muslim teachers is a need of Islamic Fiqh Learning (Practical Fiqh). This service activity was carried out at SD IT Bina Insani Muslim in Jatimulya Tambun Selatan. Service partners are all teachers at SD IT Bina Islam Muslim. This service was held on June 14 and 15, 2021. Located in the hall of SDIT Bina Islam Muslim, attended by 23 teachers who were divided into two sessions. Given that the COVID pandemic has not yet ended, this training and mentoring event is divided into two days. The methods used in this implementation are lectures and demonstrations or direct training. The results of community service activities are increasing the ability and understanding of educators in terms of practical fiqh material and increasing and developing the understanding of educator participants in terms of fiqh problems in everyday life

Abstract

This study explores the philosophical foundations, principles, and  comparisons of human rights from an international perspective (Universal Declaration of Human Rights/UDHR) and Islam (sourced from Medina Charter, and Cairo Declaration). Through literature review and descriptive-comparative analysis , it was found that although both perspectives acknowledge the inherent dignity of humans and basic rights, there are fundamental differences in the sources (natural dignity vs. divine revelation) and limitations of rights (e.g., related to freedom of religion and expression). Historically, both Western and Islamic traditions have developed frameworks for the protection of rights, with the Medina Charter as an early progressive document in the context of pluralism. The dynamics of modern human rights enforcement reveal a paradox between universalism and cultural relativism. However, through dialogue and harmonization—particularly through flexible reinterpretation of Islamic concepts such as ijtihad—it is possible to bridge these differences. This study concludes that the recognition and implementation of human rights can be strengthened globally and in the Islamic world, encouraging cross-cultural cooperation for equitable and sustainable social development.

Abstract

Religious conflict in Indonesia does not always stem from doctrinal differences, but often arises from issues of communication, governance, public perception, and social relations within heterogeneous urban spaces. This study aims to analyze the intervention of the Indonesian Ulema Council in the conflict involving Majelis Taklim Umi Cinta in Bekasi City Indonesia, with a focus on how MUI exercised its authority in resolving a non-doctrinal religious conflict. This research employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive case study design. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with MUI administrators, local government officials, Islamic religious counselors, community leaders, reporting residents, and the leader of the study group, as well as through document analysis of MUI decrees, mediation records, media reports, and activity documentation. The data were analyzed using the interactive model of Miles and Huberman, consisting of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing and verification. The findings show that the conflict was not primarily caused by doctrinal deviation, but by miscommunication, media framing, environmental disturbance, and weak governance of a non-formal religious assembly. The study also finds that MUI’s authority operated effectively through tabayyun, mediation, and cross-institutional coordination based on moral legitimacy rather than legal coercion. The implication of this research is that religious authority in contemporary Indonesia should be understood not only as a guardian of doctrine, but also as a form of social mediation in managing public perception, religious governance, and coexistence in heterogeneous communities.

Abstract

This community service program aims to strengthen the spiritual readiness and religious understanding of Indonesian Muslim communities in Japan in preparation for the month of Ramadan through a series of mosque-based activities. The activities were carried out using a participatory approach through thematic lectures, Qur’an recitation, shalawat, sharing sessions on the experiences of Muslim migrants, and question-and-answer sessions led by speakers from academic and religious circles who understand the socio-cultural context of Japan. The results show a high level of enthusiasm among participants, reflected in attendance, attentiveness during the sessions, and active participation in discussions on Ramadan worship practices in workplace, campus, and family settings. This series also strengthened scholarly and institutional networks between PCINU Japan, local mosque committees, and universities in Indonesia, and reinforced the function of mosques as a “homecoming space” and a center for consolidating Islam Nusantara in a non-Muslim-majority country. The Tarhib Ramadan program model and the dynamics of these community mosques have the potential to be replicated in other Indonesian Muslim communities abroad as an effort to enhance religious literacy, Ramadan spirituality, and social cohesion among the diaspora.
