Abstract

ABSTRACTThis research is a qualitative study that aims to find out how the implementation of thetudang sipulung culture as group communication in foreign language learning. The researchwas organized in the Foreign Language educational Department Program at the Faculty ofLanguages and Literatures, Makassar State University, and data were collected throughparticipatory observation in teaching and learning foreign languages. The research data wereanalyzed using Miles and Huberman model data analysis. The analysis consists of four mainstages: data collection, data reduction, data presentation (data display), and conclusiondrawing /verification. The study results showed that the culture of the tudang sipulung asgroup communication is one of the methods that can be applied in learning foreign languages.This culture can be used as one of the procedures during the learning process in which it is theprimary method and part of learning models. The cultural implementation of the tudangsipulung as group communication has four main elements: interaction, time, number ofmembers, and goals. In addition, this culture also adopts primary, secondary, linear, andcircular communication patterns in its application. The Tudang sipulung culture also hasseveral benefits, such as establishing social relations, channeling ideas, thoughts, andsuggestions, improving critical thinking skills, developing mutual respect, making decisions,plans or activities, solving problems, and producing solutions to the problems discussed andincreasing knowledge.Keywords: the culture of tudang sipulung, group communication, forign language learning

Abstract

This article  offers a case study of the cooperative learning model example nonexample effectivity on writing skill of second semester German education departement student in faculty of language and literature of Makassar state university. The population was German student on second semester devided into two classes.  Class A with 27 sudents as experiment class and class B with 29 students as control class.  The data were collected through writing test and analysed by using t-test analysis. The result showed that tcount 5.77 > ttable 2.005 on significant standart 0.05. The result of the study concluded that cooperative learning model example nonexample is effected on second semester of German education departement student writing skill in faculty of language and literature of Makassar state university.

Abstract

Abstrak: Tulisan ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan penerapanbeberapa model yang inovatif dan dapat digunakan dalampembelajaranbahasaMandarin yang selama ini dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode pembelajarankonvensional. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah studi pustakayangdilakukan dengan mengumpulkan data dari artikel-artikel yang terdapat padaprosiding, jurnal nasional, dan internasional. Artikel yang digunakanadalahjurnal yang diterbitkan dalam 5 tahun terakhir. Penerapan pendekatan/metodeini berdampak positif bagi siswa. Dampak positifnya berupa pembelajaranyanginteraktif, mudah, menyenangkan dan membantu siswa dalammemahami bahasaMandarin. Kata Kunci: Model, Pemebalajaran, Bahasa Mandarin

Abstract

This research is quantitative correlational research with the aim of finding out the relationship between the ability to read and understand Arabic texts and the learning outcomes of Class VIII students at the Darul Hasanah Polewali Mandar Modern Islamic Boarding School. The method in this research is a correlative descriptive method to describe and measure the degree of relationship between two variables, namely, the ability to read, understand Arabic texts (X) and the results of learning Arabic (Y). The objects of this research were class VIII students at the Darul Hasanah Polewali Mandar Modern Islamic Boarding School. The results of this research show that there is a relationship between the ability to read and understand Arabic texts and the learning outcomes of Class VIII students at the Darul Hasanah Polewali Mandar Modern Islamic Boarding School. The correlation value contained in this study was 0.4132 or in the range 0.40-0.599. This shows that the level of correlation/relationship between the ability to read and understand Arabic texts and the learning outcomes of Class VIII students at the Darul Hasanah Polewali Mandar Modern Islamic Boarding School is in the medium category.
