Abstract

Metopograpsus sp is one of species of crabs usually found in indo-pacifik and lived at mangrove's trunk. The characteristic of this type of crab has type color on the carapace organ that indicate the presence of carotenoid. carotenoid pigments are natural dyes in plants and crustacea. The purpose of this study is to determined type of carotenoid pigments of metopograpsus sp by using TLC Method. The result of this study were identified three type of pigments of metopograpsus sp that are β-Karoten, Astaxanthin, dan Astacene.Key word : Metopograpsus sp, TLC, Carotenoid pigments.

Abstract

Phyllidia varicosa is an organism belongs to the order Nudibranchia, which is commonly known as a sea rabbit. This organism is able to synthesize secondary metabolites from food. The purpose of this study was to obtain P. varicosa extract and symbiotic bacterial extract from P. varicosa, then determine the antibacterial activity of P. varicosa extract and the symbionic bacteria extract against Escherichia coli DSM498, Bacillus megaterium DSM32T and anti-UV activity. P. varicose symbiotic bacterial were isolated and extracted. The results obtained 5 bacterial isolates. The results of antibacterial assay of isolates PhVa 1.1, PhVa 1.3, PhVa 2.1, PhVa 2.3 and PhVa 2.4 shown that these isolates have an antibacterial activity against E. coli DSM498 and B. megaterium DSM32T. Anti-UV assay results shown an absorption at UV-A with the highest value of 1.991 at λ 340 nm.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the structure of the target fish community, including species composition, type of research and to analyze the ecological index in which the diversity index, uniformity index, dominance index, and community similarity index. Data collection was carried out in coral reef ecosystems in the traditional zones of Madolin, Alung Banua, Sachiko, Muka Kampung, and East Bunaken areas, all data collection areas were included in the Bunaken National Park area. Data was taken using the Underwater Visual Census method, also equipped with a documentation search for underwater photography and videography carried out at the Marine Biology laboratory, Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences, UNSRAT. There are 3 families, 21 species and 130 individuals at the Madolin area, 5 families, 24 species, and 72 individuals at the Alung Banua area, 5 families, 23 species, and 77 individuals at the Sachiko area, 2 families, 11 species and 129 individuals at the Sachiko area. Muka Kampung, and 4 families, 18 species, and 160 individuals at the East Bunaken location. The calculated ecological index values obtained are H' 2.11 (Madolin), 2.90 (Alung Banua), 2.65 (Sachiko), 1.57 (Muka Kampung), 1.67 (East Bunaken) indicating the ecological condition of the ecosystem. coral reefs are still stable even though diversity is classified as moderate but inversely proportional to low dominance ranging from 0.07 to 0.33 on average. The results of the community similarity analysis using the Sorense index (<50%) showed that there was no similarity in reef fish communities between the 4 stations, namely (Madolin & Alung Banua), (Madolin & Muka Kampung), and (Muka Kampung & East Bunaken). Keywords : target fish community, diversity, dominance, community similarity

Abstract

In the world there are 60 species of seagrass, and 12 types are found in Indonesia. This study aims to determine the results of the description of the community structure and the percentage cover of seagrass in the waters of the Marine Fields Station, observations were made at 2 (ST.1 & ST.2) stations using themethod seagrass watch and the results of data analysis of the community structure using the equation formula from Cox, 1967. In the waters of the Marine Fields Station, there are 6 species, namely Enhalus acoroides, Thalassia hemprichii, Cymodocea rotundata, Syringodium isoetifolium, Halodule pinifolia, and Halophile ovalis. The results of the percentage of seagrass cover at ST.1 were 58.85% and ST.2 53.13% and the average value obtained from these 2 stations was 55.99%. Overall, the community structure of ST.1 species Thalassia hemprichii has the highest important value index of 80.66%. And in ST.2 Syringodium isoetifolium which has the highest important value index is 93.27%. Parameters in the waters of Maine Field Station, namely pH, salinity, temperature, substrate are good. Keywords: Seagrass, Percentage Cover, Community StructureÂ
