Abstract

Internet and social media are sources of information and religious knowledge references, especially for millennials and middle-class urban communities. The transformation of Islamic da’wah mode from offline to online is still dominated by men preachers. Actually, women's da’wah movement can be found in new media platforms but they get less attention. This study aims to explore the role of women preachers in Islamic da’wah in the digital era. Second, to explore the digital da’wah strategy of the Islamic Gender Justice studies (Ngaji KGI) community. The research method used to analyze the problem above was a qualitative-research with an anthropological-da’wah approach. This paper shows that the role of female da’i is equal and their position is crucially the same as that of male da’i. In addition, Ngaji GKI strategy by adhering to relative advantage, compatibility, complexity, triability and observability makes its existence different from other communities.

Abstract

This research discusses the management of the TikTok platform as a women's empowerment media that focuses on providing information, educating, and persuading audiences. The positive side of social media contributes as a medium for women's empowerment to voice issues about women. This research aims to analyze Nina Bayan Radio's TikTok management and analyze its opportunities and challenges in the cyber era. This research uses qualitative research with a descriptive approach. The data collection techniques in this research are through observation, interviews and documentation. This research shows two important findings. First, the management of TikTok Radio Nina Bayan applies general management to manage the Gundem Batur Nina program with structured planning, organizing, implementing and monitoring steps. The involvement of the broadcasting team, listener response and online monitoring on TikTok is an integral part of program implementation. Secondly, there is a great opportunity for Radio Nina Bayan to reach a wide audience through the TikTok platform due to the needs of the audience, especially Gen Z. The challenges are limited funding, problems with listeners' response and online monitoring on TikTok. However, the challenges are limited funds, problems in remote areas, and technological management constraints.

Abstract

This study critically examines the depiction of women’s inequality in digital films, focusing on gender disparity rooted in patriarchal culture, which endures despite Islam’s emphasis on justice and equality. The shifting behaviour of audiences in accessing information, education, and entertainment situates digital films as a powerful medium for advancing gender equality, harnessing the influence of mass media to reshape religious and cultural values. This research analyses three significant films: Yuni, Photocopier, and Before, Now and Then, chosen for their emphasis on gender equality, wide audience appeal, and recognition through national and international awards. Employing Norman Fairclough’s critical discourse analysis, the study explores textual, discursive, and socio-cultural dimensions. The findings reveal that, textually, the films highlight women’s struggles with injustice, discrimination, and violence. The discursive dimension emphasises the need for women to assert their rights and the propagation of Islamic teachings that promote gender equality and universal compassion. From a socio-cultural perspective, the study underlines that systemic injustice will persist unless concerted efforts are made to challenge patriarchal dominance and societal authority over women through the medium of film.

Abstract

The internet and social media have changed people's lifestyles. One form of change is the search for religious references through the internet. Before the internet and massive social media were used, Kyai or Tuan Guru became the main reference and source of religious knowledge. The search for religious knowledge then shifted to virtual spaces so that the religious authority of the messenger was not a priority. This study examines the communication performance of millennial students on social media. The data collection method is descriptive qualitative. The subjects of this study were four Islamic boarding schools, namely Sirajul Huda, Darul Falah, Nurul Haramain and Nurul Hakim Islamic boarding schools. The results of this study indicate that the digital da'wah strategy carried out by Islamic boarding schools in Lombok pays attention to four things, namely the message of da'wah (content), the target of da'wah (audience), da'wah channels (social media), and preachers of da'wah (communicators). These four elements are then framed in an interesting and creative program content on social media so that da'wah is not only related to monotonous lectures, but can be through short films, short videos, podcasts and others.

Abstract

This study focuses on examining the challenges and needs for the reformulation of the da'wah and communication paradigm in the post-pandemic era. Through a qualitative approach, the results of this study show that in the post-pandemic era, da'wah requires a redefinition and reformulation of paradigms, known as the happy da'wah paradigm, namely placing happiness in the experience of the da'wah process and the practice of religious teachings, not on the purpose of da'wah. The performance of the activity system is directed to "offer" the da'wah message, not to "impose" the message. The appearance and performance of this system is packaged in an attractive, creative, innovative, supportive and affirmative communication pattern by utilizing information technology as an efficient communication medium.

Abstract

The Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia held a national campaign movement to wear masks to prevent transmission of COVID-19. The movement was welcomed by the pesantren. The purpose of this study was to describe the movement of wearing masks with the at-tawazun counseling approach (pesantren-based counseling) in Pondok Pesantren Salafiyah Syafi'iyah Situbondo, East Java. This research used a service-learning approach. The results of this study revealed the campaign to wear masks by balancing (at-tawazun) between physical and spiritual efforts, namely: a counseling approach with (1) uswah hasanah techniques, namely giving concrete examples of wearing good masks, (2) megha' kalemmar aéngnga sé ta' lekkoa, namely modeling using masks from students figures so that they are imitated by other students, (3) mauidhah hasanah, namely educational speech using masks, (4) balance between targhib and ta'zir which is giving reinforcement or punishment, and (5) art, namely campaigns using masks through the students' art performance. This research should be adopted in several other pesantren or Islamic-based educational institutions for the campaign to wear masks. This research contributes to the development of "Islamic Guidance and Counseling", "Islamic Psychology", and several other counseling theories.

The two villages that became the focus of the service were Jembatan Gantung village and East Mareje village in the Lembar sub-district of West Lombok. This service activity produced a number of important and interesting findings, namely: First, the two villages that are the focus of the service have the potential of natural resources and human resources that need to be developed. Second, the website is one of the media that can be managed easily as a representation of the village in the digital world. The village website has a role as an information center, improving community resources, promotional media and village development. Third, capacity building of village officials as website content managers needs to be improved to build the sustainability of the program. Fourth, the website needs to be managed in a solid team and designed in creative and interesting ways so that people like to access it.
