Abstract

Abstract

Prefabricated buildings represent a novel approach to construction, characterized by standardized designs, factory-based processing, and assembly-line operations. Over the recent years, the continuous advancement and maturation of BIM (Building Information Modeling) technology have fostered advantageous conditions for the enhancement and transformation of the construction sector. Prefabricated buildings integrate a variety of digital technologies to break down barriers in various links of the traditional construction industry. This approach effectively fosters information sharing and resource substitution across different stages and among various stakeholders in construction, thereby preventing issues such as inadequate information communication that often arise during the building process. This review elucidates the prevalent employment of BIM technology in PB (prefabricated buildings) through a systematic literature review and content analysis. A three-stage systematic literature review approach was adopted to identify and review 81 relevant articles, culminating in a summary outlining the contribution, development trends, and restriction of BIM technology in PB. The review also emphasises the potential of BIM technology, but the need for effective integration of the technology to improve future prefabrication practices

Abstract

This research aims at assessing the reliability of rebar sleeve grouting connections used in P.C building under cyclic lateral loadings. Such connections are necessary for structural stability at the time of an earthquake. It is essential to determine their performance for improving the safety in prefabricated structures. For the research, three full scale column to foundation samples that used standardized construction materials and methods were used in testing. Rebar sleeve grouting connections were each confined and encased in high strength grout and had ribbed steel sleeves to enhance the mechanical interlocking. Specific performance factors like load transfer efficiency, deformability and energy absorption were recorded as lateral cyclic loads were progressively applied to simulate actual seismic actions. Measurements were made using load cells, displacement transducers, and strain gauges while videotaping of the experiment was done with normal and high-speed cameras. The analysis also showed that of all the factors, sleeve geometry, grout quality and bond strength means have larger impact on seismic performance. Energy dissipation and deformation capacity was captured by displaying that ductile failure modes included rebar yielding and controlled grout cracking. All these findings are relevant to understanding the learnings available for the prefabricated structure design in improving the construction practices and defining the standard tests required to enhance the Seismic performance of the structures.

Abstract

Assessing the quality of MRT services unveils a generally satisfactory experience among respondents, with comfort emerging as a particularly noteworthy aspect. Satisfaction levels for MRT service quality range from 3.63 to 4.12, indicating a favorable perception overall. Notably, comfort stands out with the highest satisfaction rating, surpassing the "Satisfied" threshold, while accessibility receives the lowest rating. In essence, the majority of MRT passengers’ express contentment with the service, spanning operation, maintenance, and performance. Additionally, Bukit Bintang station emerges as a focal point during peak hours due to its proximity to diverse amenities. However, the prevalence of respondents underscores the necessity for broader demographic representation in future studies. Anticipated increases in MRT ridership necessitate proactive measures to accommodate the growing demand, with projected passenger numbers expected to rise significantly. Peak demand for the MRT SBK line is estimated at 115,498.543 passengers per day, reflecting a notable escalation of 281.82% across various purposes. Yet, reliance on responses may introduce biases in trip generation models and subsequent travel demand forecasting, emphasizing the importance of diversifying the respondent pool for more accurate predictions. Overall, the evaluation underscores the satisfactory nature of MRT services, particularly in terms of passenger comfort.
