Abstract

Desa Ngunut berada di wilayah Kecamatan Kawedanan, Kabupaten Magetan yang sebagian besar penduduknya menggantungkan hidup dari bercocok tanam. Dari segi ekonomi, sebanyak 27% warga Desa Ngunut, Kecamatan Kawedanan merupakan keluarga pra sejahtera, sehingga diperlukan upaya untuk dapat meningkatkan perekonomian keluarga di wilayah mitra melalui pemberdayaan potensi warga. Salah satu upaya peningkatan perekonomian melalui pemanfaatan tanaman sereh yang berpotensi dikembangkan untuk mengembangkan usaha perekonomian dari hulu ke hilir akan tetapi belum menjadi komoditas di wilayah Desa Ngunut. Hal ini dikarenakan warga belum memahami manfaat dan potensi ekonomi dari tanaman sereh. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini dilakukan melalui penyuluhan untuk memperkenalkan manfaat dan potensi ekonomi tanaman sereh (Cymbopogon nardus), serta pembuatan minyak esensial sereh menggunakan alat destilasi sederhana. Luaran yang dicapai adalah peningkatan pengetahuan dan pemahaman secara keseluruhan dari 68,67% menjadi 84,33% pada warga Desa Ngunut, Kecamatan Karangrejo, Kabupaten Magetan mengenai tanaman sereh (Cymbopogon nardus) yang dapat dimanfaatkan untuk meningkatkan perekonomian warga

Abstract

Solar radiation can cause negative effects on human skin such as skin pigmentation, skin cancer, sunburn and aging, so protection is needed, one of which is sunscreen use. Moringa leaves (Moringa oleifera L.) contain flavonoid, secondary metabolite which is effective as photoprotectors because of their ability to absorb UV light and can be formulated into cream preparations. The aim of this research was to evaluate the physical quality and SPF value of 3 Moringa leaf extract cream formulas. The results of the physical quality evaluation for homogeneity, pH and organoleptics have met the requirements. Spreadibility test shows that formula I has a spreading power per load of between 5-6.23cm. The viscosity test showed that all formulas had good average viscosity results, namely formula I 23111 cPs, formula II 22670 cPs, and formula III 20170 cPs. The largest SPF test result was formula III which contained 5% extract which had a value of 4.8653 with medium SPF potential.

Abstract

Abstract — Purslane (Portulaca sp.) is a wild plant that can be consumed and can be used as decorative plant. Purslane has benefits, including antioxidant, anti-hyperlipidemia, anti-diabetes, anti-atherosclerosis and anti-inflammatory. Most of people do not have any knowledge about the potential of Purslane, including Family Empowerment and Welfare (PKK) cadres in Karangrejo, Magetan Regency as our partners. The aim of this community service activity was to introduce the benefits of Purslane and providing skills for cultivating this plant so that it could optimize land and increase the collections of family's medicinal plants (TOGA). This activity has been carried out through education and training on the cultivation of Purslane to partners and evaluation of the activity was carried out using pre-tests and post-tests in the form of short questions about the benefits and cultivation of Purslane. Partners knowledge about the potential of purslane plants has increased from 91.25% to 96.25% based on correct answers and partners knowledge about the cultivation of Purslane has increased from 36.25% to 61 .25% based on correct answers. Education about the benefits and cultivation training has been able to increase partners knowledge and skills in managing the potential of Purslane. Keywords — PKK, Karangrejo, Krokot, Cultivation Abstrak — Krokot (Portulaca sp.) merupakan tanaman liar dan dapat dikonsumsi maupun digunakan sebagai tanaman hias. Krokot memiliki berbagai manfaat antara lain sebagai antioksidan, antihiperlipidemia, antidiabetes, antiaterosklerosis, serta antiinflamasi. Sebagian besar masyarakat belum memiliki pengetahuan tentang potensi Krokot termasuk mitra dari kader PKK di lingkungan Kelurahan Karangrejo Kabupaten Magetan. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk memperkenalkan manfaat tanaman Krokot dan memberikan bekal keterampilan untuk membudidayakan tanaman tersebut sehingga mengoptimalkan penggunaan lahan serta menambah jenis koleksi tanaman obat keluarga. Adapun kegiatan ini dilakukan melalui edukasi dan pelatihan budi daya Krokot kepada mitra serta adanya. Evaluasi kegiatan dilakukan menggunakan pre-test dan post-test berupa pertanyaan singkat seputar manfaat dan budi daya Krokot. Pengetahuan mitra tentang potensi tanaman Krokot telah mengalami peningkatan dari 91,25% menjadi 96,25% jawaban benar serta pengetahuan mitra tentang budi daya tanaman krokot telah mengalami peningkatan dari 36,25% menjadi 61,25% jawaban benar. Penyuluhan manfaat dan pelatihan budi daya ini dapat meningkatkan pengetahuan dan ketrampilan mitra dalam mengelola potensi Krokot. Kata Kunci—PKK, Karangrejo, Krokot, budidaya

Abstract

Background: Indonesia is an equatorial country that is rich in sunlight all year. UV light is divided into three wavelength groups: UV-A (320-400nm), UV-B (280-320nm), and UV-C (100-290nm). Intracell chromophores in skin cell membranes such as riboflavin, porphyrin, nicotinamide, and enzymes will absorb the UV-A light. The UV-B light penetrates the dermis layer and causes DNA structure changes, which lead to wrinkles and a rising risk of skin cancer. Premature skin aging and skin cancer can be prevented with sunscreen preparation containing compounds that can protect the skin from UV radiation. Flavonoid is one of the purslane (Portulaca grandiflora) active metabolites that have the potency to be developed as sunscreen. Objective: This research aimed to determine the ability of purslane (Portulaca grandiflora) magenta flower variety herbs extract cream as a sunscreen as indicated by the %Te, %Tp, and Sun Protective Factor value. Methods: This research was an experimental study with various purslane magenta flower variety herbs extract cream formulas that were tested for their %Te, %Tp, and SPF value with a UV-Vis spectrophotometer. Results: The sunscreen cream preparation with 2.5% of purslane (Portulaca grandiflora) magenta flower variety herb extract had %Te, %Tp, and SPF values of 25.86 ± 2.41%, 36.05 ± 2.82%, and 3.97 ± 0.35 respectively. At the same time, preparations with 5% concentration of extract had %Te, %Tp, and SPF values of 8.23 ± 0.86%, 16.65 ± 0.92%, and 8.03 ± 0.38, respectively. Conclusion: The sunscreen activity of all extract concentration creams was significantly different compared to the negative control (cream base) in all parameters. Flavonoids are the compounds responsible for the sunscreen activity of purslane extract.

Abstract

Vitamin C is an unstable in storage. The stability of vitamin C is influenced by many factors such as temperature, pH, sunlight and the presence of heavy metals such as iron and copper. The purpose of this study was to determine differences in vitamin C levels in tablets based on storage areas with different lighting conditions at a pharmacy in Madiun. In this study, samples of vitamin C tablets were stored on the front shelf facing the entrance of the pharmacy which was exposed to indirect sunlight, the upper shelf which was exposed to the light, and the lower shelf which was protected from the light and sunlight, and. Storage was carried out for one month. Determination of vitamin C levels in tablet was determined using Spectrophotometry UV-Vis method, then the results were statistically analyzed using One Way Anova. The results showed that the levels of vitamin C in the tablets on the front shelf, upper shelf, and lower shelf were 95,56%, 97,67%, and 98,95% respectively. The results exhibit the lowest level of vitamin C was found on front storage, nonetheless there was no significantly difference levels from all storage location.
