Abstract

The conspicuity of traf ic signs is crucial, as their purpose is to give drivers with direction and information. The ef ectiveness and ef iciency of a traf ic sign is determined by its visibility, legibility, and veracity of information for observers. This study recruited primarily postgraduate students as participants. The assessment was conducted as part of a controlled experiment. Method used in this research is a controlled indoor experiment using a visual search task in which a random order of daytime and nighttime scenes are given within 200 milliseconds. Subjects were instructed to identify any visible signs at the scene. Four variables, including the size/distance of signs, the complexity of the background, the luminance contrast, and the color dif erence, were utilized. The results reveal that the size of the sign influences its conspicuity. Sign conspicuity is likewise af ected by luminance contrast, however it may have a greater ef ect at night. The results may also show that the impact of color dif erence between daylight and nighttime conditions is minimal. In as much as a portion of the parameter's value is based on visual evaluation, and the findings do not appear to have reached a statistically significant level, additional methodological refinement is required. Abstract

The latest lighting standard in Indonesia, SNI 7391:2008, emphasizes uniform distribution for road lighting to ensure the safety and accuracy of motorists. However, in urban kampungs, local roads serve as non-commercial public spaces and require lighting that is suitable for human-scale activities. This study examines road lighting in Siwalankerto, Surabaya, and explores how residents' nighttime experiences relate to their perceived adequacy of illumination (PAI). The research involved 26 participants who rated their experiences while using the local road after dark. Nighttime experiences, including pleasantness, willingness to stay, and safety, were compared to illuminance levels and PAI. The findings show a correlation between perceived adequacy of illumination and pleasantness, as well as the willingness to stay in the road space. There was no significant correlation between safety and PAI.

Abstract

Keberadaan penyandang disabilitas masih mendapatkan stigma negatif. Mereka dianggap tidak mampu mandiri untuk hidup layak dan sejahtera. Tim Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat Program Studi Akuntansi Universitas Ciputra Surabaya dan Program Studi Pendidikan Khusus Universitas PGRI Adi Buana Surabaya berupaya untuk membantu penyandang disabilitas dalam menangkis stigma negatif tersebut. Tim pelaksana bekerja sama dengan LPPM Universitas Ciputra dan kelompok Sahabat Masyarakat Berdaya untuk menyiapkan starter kit, modal kerja dan serangkaian pelatihan kewirausahaan bagi penyandang disabilitas yang tergabung dalam Persatuan Sepakbola Amputasi (PERSAS) dan Disabilitas Motor Club (DMC). Selanjutnya, melalui serangkaian pelatihan, anggota PERSAS dan DMC mendeklarasikan program Disabilitas Giat Berdaya (DIGDAYA) Batch 1. Deklarasi tersebut dimaksudkan untuk menggugah semangat peserta agar menjadi lebih mendiri dan mampu menjadi sejahtera hingga terlepas dari stigma negatif disabilitas.

Abstract

Tulisan ini bertujuan untuk mendiskusikan alternatif ide desain pencahayaan malam hari di ruang publik non-komersial dengan menggunakan tiga asas perancangan pecahayaan Richard Kelly. Penelitian ini menggunakan koridor jalan kampung kota Siwalankerto, Surabaya sebagai studi kasus. Hal ini didasari oleh isu dan fenomena penerapan pencahayaan koridor jalan kampung kota di malam hari yang menggunakan standar SNI 7391:2008 yang menitikberatkan pada aspek teknis seperti nilai kuat cahaya. Kebutuhan nilai kuat cahaya tertentu kemudian dipenuhi dengan penggunaan lampu penerangan jalan umum (LPJU) tanpa mempertimbangkan aspek pendukung lain yang membentuk kampung kota. Studi ini bertujuan untuk mengilustrasikan bagaimana koridor jalan kampung kota di malam hari dapat didesain dengan mempertimbangkan karakteristik dan kebutuhan aktifitas penduduk sekitarnya. Analisa objek studi dipresentasikan melalui penggambaran tiga teknik pencahayaan yaitu ambient luminescence, focal glow, dan play of brilliant. Hasil studi ini mencoba melihat pencahayaan koridor jalan kampung kota dari perspektif dan pertimbangan skala manusia sebagai pengguna utama. Hal ini diharapkan mampu menjadi bahan refleksi pengembangan dan ide baru pada desain pencahayaan ruang publik non-komersial seperti koridor jalan kampung kota.
