Abstract

This study discusses the theological analysis of giving belis in marriages for the people of Sumba. This culture or custom has been passed down from generation to generation and always intersects with church marriage. There are many different responses to belis in Sumba community marriages, especially from Christians. The research method used is a literature study. The object of study is the giving of dowries in the marriages of Isaac and Rebekah, Jacob and Rachel, David and Michal, and Shechem and Dina. Theological reflections obtained from this study: First, dowry in the Bible is given as a sign of respect for women and their families. Second, dowry is not coercion but rather the ability of a man to prove his love for a woman who wants to be his wife. Therefore, if it is applied to the belis culture in the Sumbanese people, belis does not conflict with the Christian faith, and belis has positive things that aim to help each other. The implications include: First, belis must be given according to the man's ability. Second, belis may not be held to fulfill the personal ambitions of the bride and groom or their family. Purchase payments must be made for the common good. Third, belis is given in an honorable way. There is no need to justify any means to prove the ability to pay belis at high prices.

Abstract

This study aims to interpret the ethical values of the Javanese community in the contextual mission of the church in the context of shifting ethical values in society today due to globalization and dynamic social changes in society. The ethical values of the Javanese community which are correlated with the church's mission contextually tend to become degraded in the reality of social change in today's society. Using a qualitative method, this research was conducted at the Samironobaru Javanese Christian Church and found that in an effort to contextualize the church's mission, the church in the context of Javanese society needs to actualize the ethical values of the Javanese community in a contextual church mission approach.

Abstract

This study examines the concept of the Intermediate State theologically, particularly in relation to the doctrines of Purgatory and Soul Sleep. The purpose of this study is to evaluate whether both doctrines have a strong basis in the Bible. The method used is a qualitative theological approach through literature study and analysis of biblical texts. This study includes the concepts of Sheol, Hades, and interpretations of relevant verses. The results of the study indicate that the doctrine of Purgatory does not have a strong biblical basis and is more developed from church tradition. Meanwhile, the doctrine of Soul Sleep is also inconsistent with the biblical testimony that describes the dead remain conscious in the Intermediate State. Therefore, it is concluded that after death, humans immediately enter a state of consciousness, either in communion with God or in separation from Him, without going through an additional process of sanctification or unconsciousness.

Abstract

Abstract Cross-age spiritual formation at GPdI Jamblang Cirebon is carried out to provide holistic and substantive spiritual formation. That is why the methods used are adapted to the age group, such as lecture methods, presentations, sermons and others. And as a result of this spiritual formation, it was concluded that guidance on the topic of Jesus' resurrection was very necessary because it could help the congregation stand strong in the struggle. Abstrak Pembinaan Rohani lintas usia di GPdI Jamblang Cirebon dilaksanakan untuk memberikan pembinaan rohani secara holistik dan substansi. Itulah sebabnya metode yang digunakan disesuaikan dengan kelompok usia seperti metode ceramah, presentase, khotbah dan lain-lain. Dan hasil dari pembinaan rohani ini diperoleh kesimpulan bahwa pembinaan dengan topik kebangkitan Yesus sangat perlu dilakukan karena dapat membantu jemaat kuat berdiri dalam pergumulan.

Abstract

Abstract Sunday School teacher training is a crucial foundation for shaping the quality of children's faith education in the church. This study aims to describe effective training strategies for Sunday School teachers within the context of GKJ Gunungkidul Yogyakarta, focusing on teaching methods that align with children's developmental stages and the demands of the times. A qualitative approach was used to gather data through observation, literature study, and interviews. The findings indicate that effective teaching strategies must consider children's age-related developmental stages, the use of visual aids and teaching media, interactive classroom management, and the implementation of contextual and collaborative learning models. In addition, Sunday School teachers must be equipped as spiritual facilitators who serve as role models of faith, possess reflective competence, and demonstrate sensitivity to children's character. Ongoing training—through workshops, peer discussions, and post-class evaluations—is essential to improve teaching quality and nurture children to grow in their faith in Christ.    Abstrak Pembinaan guru Sekolah Minggu merupakan fondasi penting dalam membentuk kualitas pelayanan pendidikan iman anak-anak di gereja. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguraikan strategi pembinaan guru Sekolah Minggu yang efektif dalam konteks GKJ Gunungkidul Yogyakarta, dengan fokus pada metode mengajar yang sesuai dengan perkembangan anak dan relevan dengan kebutuhan zaman. Pendekatan kualitatif digunakan untuk menggali data melalui observasi, studi pustaka, dan wawancara. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa strategi mengajar yang efektif harus mempertimbangkan tahap perkembangan usia anak, penggunaan alat peraga dan media visual, pengelolaan kelas yang interaktif, serta penerapan model pembelajaran kontekstual dan kolaboratif. Selain itu, guru Sekolah Minggu harus dipersiapkan sebagai fasilitator rohani yang berperan sebagai teladan iman, memiliki kompetensi reflektif, dan peka terhadap karakter anak. Pembinaan yang berkelanjutan, baik melalui pelatihan, diskusi kelompok, maupun evaluasi pascakelas, menjadi kunci untuk meningkatkan kualitas pengajaran dan membentuk anak-anak yang bertumbuh dalam iman kepada Kristus.

Abstract

Abstract The spiritual development of Sunday School children is an important foundation in the development of their faith, character, and personal relationship with God from an early age. This development process places Sunday School teachers as central figures, not only as teachers, but also as spiritual role models who reflect the love and integrity of Christ in their daily lives. The consistency of the teachers' spiritual lives serves as a tangible example for children in living out biblical values. In addition, effective nurturing requires synergy between the church and the family. Parents have an important role in reinforcing faith practices such as prayer, Bible reading, and acts of love at home, which complement the lessons children receive at church. At GKJ Wiladeg, there are challenges in the spiritual development of children because conventional teaching methods are not very interesting, resulting in low enthusiasm and understanding of God's word among children. Sunday School teachers also find it difficult to convey biblical values in a contextual and interesting way. In facing the challenges of the times, innovative teaching methods such as the use of puppet stages have proven effective in conveying Bible stories by engaging children's visual, auditory, and emotional aspects. This multisensory approach allows children to more easily understand, remember, and apply God's word in their daily lives. Through this comprehensive approach, Sunday School spiritual development is expected to produce a generation that knows God, loves Him, and lives as witnesses of Christ in the world. Abstrak Pembinaan kerohanian anak Sekolah Minggu merupakan fondasi penting dalam pengembangan iman, karakter, dan hubungan pribadi anak dengan Tuhan sejak dini. Proses pembinaan ini menempatkan guru Sekolah Minggu sebagai tokoh sentral, tidak hanya sebagai pengajar, tetapi juga sebagai teladan rohani yang mencerminkan kasih dan integritas Kristus dalam kehidupan sehari-hari. Konsistensi kehidupan rohani guru menjadi contoh nyata bagi anak dalam menghidupi nilai-nilai Alkitab. Selain itu, pembinaan yang efektif memerlukan sinergi antara gereja dan keluarga. Orang tua memiliki peran penting dalam memperkuat pembiasaan iman seperti doa, pembacaan Alkitab, dan perbuatan kasih di rumah, yang melengkapi pembelajaran yang diterima anak di gereja. Di GKJ Wiladeg terdapat tantangan dalam pembinaan kerohanian anak karena metode pengajaran yang konvensional kurang menarik, sehinga antusiasme dan pemahaman anak terhadap firman Tuhan rendah. Guru Sekolah Minggu juga kesulitan menyampaikan nilai-nilai Alkitab secara kontekstual dan menarik. Dalam menghadapi tantangan zaman, inovasi metode pembinaan seperti penggunaan panggung boneka terbukti efektif dalam menyampaikan cerita Alkitab dengan melibatkan aspek visual, auditori, dan emosional anak. Pendekatan multisensori ini memungkinkan anak lebih mudah memahami, mengingat, dan menerapkan firman Tuhan dalam kehidupan sehari-hari. Melalui pendekatan yang menyeluruh ini, pembinaan kerohanian Sekolah Minggu diharapkan mampu menghasilkan generasi yang mengenal Tuhan, mengasihi-Nya, dan hidup sebagai saksi Kristus di tengah dunia.
