Abstract

Province of NTB is an area that often experiences floods, which result in moral and material losses such as death, damage to public facilities and infrastructure, material losses, outbreaks of infectious diseases, obstruction of transportation, stagnation of economic activity and leaves trauma to each of them individual. Several factors that cause flooding in NTB are high rainfall and the overflow of sea water to the mainland. This Community Empowerment aims to looking for a comprehensive solution in dealing with the problems of flooding and ROB in Nusa Tenggara Barat and to Encouraging all participants, even from the Government or general public to work together in preventing floods and ROB in Nusa Tenggara Barat. This activity was attended by 60 participants consisting of the Government, Academics, College students, Friends of SWE Affiliate NTB and SWE Affiliate NTB. The activities show that this activities afford a comprehensive solution in overcoming floods and ROB in NTB. We also hoped that the participants who attend can work together to prevent flooding and Rob in NTB

Abstract

Bima Regency is an area with significant earthquake risk, making the application of earthquake – resistant construction principles in educational facilities essential. However, the understanding of construction workers and the local community regarding technical standards for earthquake – resistant buildings is still limited. This community service activity aimed to improve knowledge and implementation of simple earthquake – resistant construction principles in school facility development at SD Negeri 7 Sape, Bima Regency. The methods included socialization activities on the technical requirements of earthquake – resistant buildings followed by direct supervision and assistance during construction work. The materials delivered covered building material quality, structural dimensions and elements, structural connections, and construction workmanship quality. The results showed an improvement in workers and community members understanding of earthquake – resistant construction principles and better application of structural details, such as proper stirrup spacing, adequate concrete cover, and the use of 135˚ stirrup hooks. The activity also increased awareness regarding the importance of material quality and accuracy in construction work. Therefore, this community service program contributes positively to improving the quality of simple earthquake – resistant buildings and supports disaster risk education efforts in educational facilities.

Abstract

Indonesia has significant potential for natural asphalt derived from Buton Island, Southeast Sulawesi, known as Asbuton. One product developed from its utilization is Cold Paving Hot Mix Asbuton (CPHMA), which can serve as a road surface layer and offers the advantage of low-temperature compaction. However, the performance of CPHMA mixtures is strongly influenced by compaction temperature and the use of additives. Therefore, this study aimed to determine the effect of variations in compaction temperature and the addition of Portland cement on the volumetric and mechanical characteristics of CPHMA mixtures. The research was conducted at the Highway Laboratory, Civil Engineering Study Program, Mataram University. Variations included compaction temperatures of 30°C, 90°C, and 150°C, and Portland cement contents of 0%, 7%, 8%, and 9%. Tests performed consisted of sieve analysis, aggregate density, aggregate impact value, and evaluation of volumetric (VMA, VIM, VFB) and mechanical characteristics using the Marshall method. The results indicated that compaction temperature significantly affected mixture performance, where higher temperatures produced denser and more stable mixtures. The addition of Portland cement also enhanced bond strength. The optimum condition was achieved at 150°C with 8% cement content, providing the best balance between volumetric properties and mechanical performance.
